  • Eddy Current Examination is expected as the effective technique for nondestructive inspection of steam generator and various kinds of heat exchanging tubes made of STS - 304. In Case of E. C. T, a study on the various factors which have an effect on coil impedance is very important to the sensitivity of defect detection and the ratio of signal to noise. Therefore, this study analyzed coil impedance by means of the variational principle, the minimized theory of energy functional and the application of Finite Element Method. Really by using E. C. T, the relationship between the size of defects and the intensity of Eddy Current Signals can be obtained. Signal intensity becomes maximum at certain frequency. This frequency is affected by the characteristics and the position of signal sources.

  • The experimental investigation is mainly focused to detect tool wear by cutting signal measurements in multi-insert face milling SS 41 and STS 304. This research have investigated the effects on the insert number, which has relationship with mean-cutting force. AE(acoustic emission) signal, tool life and surface roughness in machining SS41 and STS 304. The cutting force and AE signal are monitored to analyse the cutting process, The surface roughness of the specimens machined by TiN coated tool with the various insert numbers measured at various cutting speeds, feed rates and depths of cut, The width of flank wear is also observed.

  • In order to achieve the autimation and untended system of manufacturing process, it is necessary that the monitoring system check up the disorder of machine tool or the conditions of tool wear for the maximum use of cutting tool. In the metal cutting Process, AE signal is detected by AE sensor, then amplified and transmitted to an Locan-AT. The experiment was performed to SM25C and STS304 steels at uniform feedrate, cutting speed and depth of cut, The results of experimental data apparently showed emission intensity vary due to increasing of tool wear at the 165kHz, 200kHz in the SM25C and 140kHz, 165kHz, 200kHz, in the STS304 respectively Therefore, it is possible to predict the tool wear. This study is intended to suggest the way to the automation and untended system of machine tool through the system monitoring tool wear by using AE signal.

  • Recently, as researches and developments for milli-structure and micro machine are actively progressing, manufacturing technologies and skills for tiny small machine parts are getting more important. So, we have been trying to cut using high revolution air bearing spindle and micro-endmill, and studying for magnitude of cutting force, cutting force wave form and surface roughness. We figured out that in 60,000rpm is so slow that cutting is not perfact. Chatter occured to $2\mu{m}/rev\;at\;80,000rpm\;and\;4.4\mu{m}/rev$ at 100,000rpm. We confirmed that spindle run out increased surface roughness at high revolution.

비틀림각 검출방식을 이용한 토크미터의 해석과 개발 (Analysis and development of the angular twist type torque-meter)

  • In this study, the angular twist type torque-meter was designed and manufactured with STS 304 and fiber-reinforced composite materials to improve the dynamic properties of the existing torque-meter. From the Experimental and analytical results, it was found that the dynamic characteristics of co-cured bonded torque-meter rotating shaft were better than those of the adhesively and unreinforced torque-meter rotating shaft. For the torque-meter rotating shaft manufactured by co-cured bonded with the glass fiber-epoxy composite and with a stacking sequence of $[$\pm$30$^{\circ}$/STS304]_{2s}$, the natural frequency and the radial spring constant were increased by 64% and 137% compared to those of the unreinforced torque-meter rotating shaft.

  • Friction welding has many merits such as energy efficiency, simple processing, etc butt difficult to obtain good weld at the welded interface and heat affected zone. To date, the continuum mechanics and fracture mechanics are utilized to analyse stresses at the interface and propagation of cracks. In this study. STS304 and SM15C are selected because they can be differentiated distinctively from metallic point of view and crack can be observed easily. It is ovserved during friction welding that STS304, rotary part is hatter than SH15C, fixed part. The last fracture occurs around the center because the surface of fatigue fracture has smooth regions, due to the separation phenomenon in plastic flows layers and striation dimple pattern.

자기연마를 이용한 STS304 파이프 내면의 초정밀 가공 (Super Precise Finishing of Internal-face in STS304 Pipe Using the Magnetic Abrasive Polishing)

  • The magnetic abrasive polishing is the useful method to finish using magnetic power of a magnet. It's not a long time this method was introduced to korea as one of precision finishing techniques. The magnetic abrasive polishing method is not so common for machine that it is not spreaded widely. The are rarely researcher in this field because of no-effectiveness of magnetic abrasive. The mechanism of this R&D is dealing with the dynamic state of magnet-abusive. This paper deals with mediocritizing magnetic polishing device into regular lathe and this experiment was conducted in order to get the best surface roughness at low cost. We need to continue the research on it. This paper contains the result of experiment to acquire the best surface roughness, not using the high-cost polishing material in processing. The average diameters of magnetic abrasive are the particles of 150$\mu\textrm{m}$, 250$\mu\textrm{m}$.

  • In this study, behavior of deformation and mechanical properties under static tensile load in friction welded dissimilar materials. and necking phenomenon occuring at yeilding point are shown. Behavior of Hv(Micro Vickers Hardness) is observed that the maximum value is occured near by the interface. and the minimum value is arised at the heat affected zone. Fracture occured at the minimu value of Hv of the heat affected zone is observed. The position of fracture surface is subjected to behavior of Hv. Yielding strength subjected to friction welding conditions, specially to upset pressure is shown.

  • We found that the """interface reaction between Ni-based alloy bond, diamond, and steel core is very critical in bond strength of diamond tool. None element from metal bond diffuses into the steel core but the Fe element of steel core was easily diffused into the bond. This diffusion depth of Fe has a great effect on the bonding strength. The Cr in steel core accelerated the Fe diffusion and improved the bond strength, on the other hand, carbon decreased the strength. Ni-based alloy bond including Cr was chemically bonded with diamond by forming Cr carbide. However, the Cr and Fe in STS304 were largely interdiffused, the strength was very low. The Cr passivity layer formed at surface of STS304 made worse strength at commissure in brazing process.

  • In this paper, friction welding optimization for 1Cr0.5Mo to STS304 and AE applications for the weld quality evaluation were investigated The important results of this study are as follows : 1. The techiques for dissimilar friction welding optimization if the elevated temperature materials 1Cr0.5Mo and STS304 and its real-time weld quality evaluation by AE were developed, considering on both strength and toughness. 2. Quantitative relationship was identified among welding condition, weld quality and cumulative AE counts.
