Among the various industrial robots, palletizing robots have received particular attention because of their higher productivity in accordance with technological progress. When designing a palletizing robot, the main components, such as the servo motors and reducers, should be properly selected to ensure its performance. In this study, a practical method for selecting the motors and reducers of a robot was proposed by performing the dynamic analysis of rigid-flexible multibody systems using ANSYS and ADAMS. In the first step, the links and frames were selected based on the structural analysis results obtained from ANSYS. Subsequently, a modal neutral file (MNF) with information on the flexible body was generated from the links and frames using modal analysis through ANSYS and APDL commands. Through a dynamic analysis of the flexible bodies, the specifications of the major components were finally determined by considering the required torque and power. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, the analysis results were compared with those of a rigid-body model. The comparison showed that rigid-flexible multibody dynamic analysis is much more useful than rigid body analysis, particularly for movements heavily influenced by gravity.
The demand for metal 3D printing technology is increasing in various industries. The materials commonly used for metal 3D printing include aluminum alloys, titanium alloys, and stainless steel. In particular, for applications in the aviation and defense industry, aluminum alloy 3D printing parts are being produced. To improve the corrosion resistance in the 3D printed aluminum alloy outputs, a post-treatment process, such as chromate coating, should be applied. However, powdered materials, such as AlSi7Mg and AlSi10Mg, used for 3D printing, have a high silicon content; therefore, a suitable pretreatment is required for chromate coating. In the desmut step of the pretreatment process, the chromate coating can be formed only when a smut composed of silicon compounds or oxides is effectively removed. In this study, suitable desmut solutions for 3D printed AlSi7Mg and AlSi10Mg materials with high silicon contents were presented, and the chromate coating properties were studied accordingly. The smut removal effect was confirmed using an aqueous desmut solution composed of sulfuric, nitric, and hydrofluoric acids. Thus, a chromate coating was successfully formed. The surfaces of the aluminum alloys after desmut and chromate coating were analyzed using SEM and EDS.
In this study, an electric resistance dual-spot welding process using a copper electrode inserted in a heating electrode is suggested for the spot welding of AZ31 magnesium sheets. This spot-welding process involves two heating methods for welding at the interfacial zone between the magnesium sheets, one of which is the heating method by thermal conduction from the heating electrode heated by the welding current induced to the steel electrode, and the other heating method uses the electric resistance between the contacted surfaces of the two sheets by the welding current induced to the copper electrode. This welding process includes the welding variables, such as the current induced in the heating electrode and the copper electrode, and the outer diameters of the heating electrode. This is because the heat conducted from the heating electrode can be maintained at a higher temperature in the welding zone, which has a slow cooling effect on the nugget of the melted metal after the welding step. The pressure exerted during the pressing of the magnesium sheets by the heating electrode can be increased around the nugget zone at the spot-welding zone. Thus, it not only reduces the warping effect of the elastoplastic deformation of sheets, but also the corona bond can make it less prone to cracking at the welded zone, thereby reducing the number of nuggets expelled out of the corona bond. In conclusion, it was known that an electric resistance dual spot welding process using the copper electrode inserted in the heating electrode can improve the welding properties in the electric resistance spot welding process of AZ31 magnesium sheets.
Continuous global warming is causing ecosystem destruction and direct damage to human life. The main cause of global warming is greenhouse gases, which account for more than 90 % of carbon dioxide. The leaders of each country signed the Paris Agreement at the United Nations Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Currently, the total amount of CO2 emitted from South Korea is 664.7 million tons as of 2018, ranking eighth in the world. 37 % of South Korea's total CO2 emissions come from the construction & building field, especially the cement production, which is a construction material. Carbon reduction technologies can be largely divided into four types: carbon reduction (CC), carbon reduction and storage technology (CCS), carbon reduction and utilization technology (CCU), and carbon reduction, storage and utilization technology (CCUS). Overseas, CCUS technology is mainly applied to reduce and store CO2 emitted from construction and construction field. A technology for permanently storing CO2 through mineralization by capturing CO2 and utilizing CO2 into a cement production process was developed, and this technology is applied to the entire cement industry. However, the development of CCUS technology applicable to the cement industry is still insignificant in South Korea. In this study, carbon dioxide reduction technology and methods for reducing carbon dioxide emitted during the cement manufacturing process, which is the main component of concrete mainly used in civil engineering construction, were investigated. Overseas, it has reached the commercialization stage beyond the demonstration stage as a way to reduce carbon dioxide by vomiting carbonation reactions. Accordingly, if carbon dioxide reduction plan technology generated during cement manufacturing is developed based on domestic technology differentiated from foreign technology, it is expected to contribute one more step to the carbon neutrality policy.
Purpose - The ICT market in the EU is lagging behind that of the US; however, algorithm and software development within the EU have grown steadily, and they involve focusing on the creative cultural convergence conceptualized as part of Horizon 2020 and connecting neighboring markets in the EE and the Mediterranean region. It is essential to study the requirements to market the EU's creative ICT development in emerging industrial countries after examining its applicability in these countries. Research design, data, and methodology - This study deals with data pertaining to the EU's creative industry and competitive edge. The global cultural expansion of the EU facilitates a new concept involving not only low-cost IT products to enhance local cultural artifacts through R&D and the construction of efficient infrastructure services, but also information exchange with a realistic commercialization of the technology that can be applied for creative cultural localization. In the European industry, research on algorithms has been applied for the benefit of consumers. We investigated how the process is conducted in the EU. Results - Europe needs to adjust its economic structure to the local culture as part of IT distribution convergence. The convergence has been converted into a production algorithm with IT in the form of low-cost production. This is because there is an attempt to improve the quality of transport infrastructure, workforce availability, and the distribution of the distance to the local industries and consumers, using IT algorithms. Integrated into the manufacturing industry, based on the ICT infrastructure and solutions, smart localized regional clusters are formed with the help of grafting. Europe has own strategy to increase the number of hub-and-spoke cities. Europe is now becoming integrated, with an EPC system for regional cooperation rather than national competition in ICT technology. Europe has also been recognized in this study as changing the step-by-step paradigm for global competitiveness through new creative culture industries. Conclusions - As a result, there are several ways of converging with others through EU R&D intensity; therefore, the EU can be seen as successfully increasing marginal value, which is useful in developing a special industrial cluster or local cultural cities that create converged development by connecting people and objects with IT. In fact, when compared to the US, Europe has a strong culture and the car industries have a tendency to overshadow the IT industries with integration of services in IT distribution. Considering the rapid environmental changes, the convergence of IT services is likely to take place in Europe, similar to the pharmaceutical industry and the automotive industry. This requires a focus on human resources and automated systems management. The trend is to move away from low-wage industries, switched to key personnel centers of the local university-industry. EU emphasizes the creation of IT market demand in Europe involving local cultural convergence for marketing as the second step to strengthen the economic hub-and-spoke areas.
As the networks connect the world, enterprises tend to move manufacturing activities into virtual spaces. Since different applications use different data terminology, it becomes a problem to interoperate, interchange, and manage electronic data among different systems. According to RTI, approximately one billion dollar has been being spent yearly for product data exchange and interoperability. As commercial CAD systems have brought in the concept of design feature for the sake of interoperability, terminologies of design feature need to be harmonized. In order to define design feature terminology for integration, knowledge about feature definitions of different CAD systems should be considered. STEP (Standard for the Exchange of Product model data) have attempted to solve this problem, but it defines only syntactic data representation so that semantic data integration is unattainable. In this paper, we utilize the ontology concept to build a data model of design feature which can be a semantic standard of feature definitions of CAD systems. Using feature ontology, we implement an integrated virtual database and a simple system which searches and edits design features in a semantic way. This paper proposes a methodology for integrating modeling features of CAD systems.
We have developed and manufactured an experimental ultrasonic polishing machine with frequency of 20kHz at the power of vibration 1.7㎾ for effective ultrasonic polishing in processing of high hardness material. Design of the horn is performed by the FEM analysis. The following conclusions were empirically deduced through experimental results to clarify the major elements which affect the surface roughness during the ultrasonic process by following the experimental plans. The ultrasonic polishing machine has been developed in parts of structure part, ultrasonic generator, vibrator. We were able to process the high hardness material without difficulty as a result of ultrasonic polishing by utilizing the groove added step-type horn. Through analyzing by applying the experimental plans, the rotating speed of the horn was determined to be the major factor in influencing the surface roughness. In the case of ceramic, wafer, we were able to obtain good surface roughness when the feed rate and the ultrasonic output were higher. Because the load on slurry particle increases when the ultrasonic output is higher, the processed surface becomes worse in the case of optical glass.
Today's automobiles are changing into miniaturization and light weight for saving natural resources and energies. In order to raise the sufficiency of fuel consumption, new mechanism and components are required. Therefore, the expectations on the new materials are very high. Especially, Al materials are widely used to reduce the motors weight. Al using in automobiles is mostly casting material, and the material is developing rapidly in step with technical innovation. Al die casting has become an important field, as we are turning today's motor into light weight. One of the parts in steering system, valve housing, plays a role to reduce the operating effort of drivers. If valve housing being a part of steering system is produced by gravity casting, the space that manufacturing equipments are installed will be increased, and more energies and workers will be needed.
The demand increasing of optical applications like as display devices derives interest for fabrication process. The product s development is apt to fabricate numerous thin and wide surfaces with micro pattern. Naturally that needs injection molding fabrication for the mass production. In existing manufacturing, the product quality is controlled by input fabrication condition from the outside. That can be called as a try and error method and not fundamentally solve the troubles; imperfect replication, war page, short shot, etc. To understand the cause and bring a solution, it is needed that check of changing in the cavity. This study can catch them. Data acquisition system about temperature and pressure distribution is settled and can get some data. From this research, other studies related with DAQ in cavity can start on the easier step.
