  • There are two important variables in machining process control, which are feed and cutting speed. In this work, a two degree-of-freedom controller is designed and implemented to achieve on-line cutting force control and position control based on the modelling of cutting process dynamics which are established through step response test. Two schemes are proposed and implemented. The first is feed control under the constant spindle speed and spindle speed control under the constant feed speed. The second is a simultaneous control of feed and spindle speed. The last performs a position control under the constant cutting force. Those are confirmed to work properly. Especially the latter shows a faster response.

  • Recently, linear motor has been developed for linear motion of machine tools. Linear motor is useful to design the linear motion, high speed and high accuracy, because of the simple system not required the additional mechanical part such as coupling and ballscrew. This paper tested performance of linear motor relevant to motioning and positioning table such as F.R.F., step response and positional accuracy Linear motion system using linear motor requires the effective cooling system because it cause to decrease the positional error and to protect the motor coil. Therefore the positional error measurement was made to evaluate the effect of the temperature variation.

  • The paper outlines a comprehensive three-step approach to the development of advanced strategies for quality control of a complex machining process. The research framework is a developed concept for Integrated Supervisory Process Control. The promising results obtained demonstrate a non-traditional approach to the deployment of quality and productivity requirements set by the system users, whereby the efficiency and systematization of the development of quality control strategies can be significantly improved.

  • The objective of this research is to develop a measurement error model for sculptured surface in On-Machine Measurement(OMM) process based on a closed-loop configuration. The geometric error model of each axis of a vertical CNC machining center is derived using a 4$\times$4 homogeneous transformation matrix. The ideal locations of a touch-type probe for the sculptured surface measurement are calculated from the parametric surface representation and X-, Y- directional geometric errors of the machine. Also the actual coordinates of the probe are calculated by considering the pre-travel variation of a probe and Z-directional geometric errors. Then, the step-by-sep measurement error analysis method is suggested based on a closed-loop configuration of the machining center including workpiece and probe errors. The simulation study shows the simplicity and effectiveness of the proposed error modeling strategy.

  • In this work, a new non-photolithographic micro-fabrication technique is presented. The motivation of this work is to overcome the demerits of the most commonly used photolithographic techniques. The micro-fabrication technique presented in this work is a two-step process which consists of mechanical scribing followed by chemical etching. This method has many advantages over other micro-fabrication techniques since it is simple, cost-effective, rapid, and flexible. Also, the technique can be used to obtain a metal structure which has sub-micrometer width patterns. In this paper, the concept of this method and its application to microsystem technology are described.

Then scanning electron microscope based electron beam machining system is maybe regarded as a powerful model can be used for it simply. To get a complete suite of thus proper system, column unit build up with electron beam gun head unit is necessarily required more than anything else to modify scanning electron microscope. In this study, various components included ceramic isolation plate and main body which are essentially constructed for electron beam gun head unit are designed and manufactured. • This paper attempt to explore the shape of stress wave propagation of 3-dimensional stress field which in made in the process of the time increment. A finite element program about 3-dimensional stress wave propagation is developed for investigating the changing shape of the stress by the impact load. The finite element program, which is the solution for the 3-dimensional stress wave analysis, based on Galerkin and Newmark-${\beta}$ method at time increment step. The tensile stress and compressive stress become larger with the order of the middle , the upper and the opposite layers when the impact load is applied. In a while the shear stress become larger according to the order of the upper, the middle and the opposite layers when impact load applied.

  • One characteristic of Fine-Blanking is that the size and the direction of stress and strain are very complex in the plastic flow according to the condition of blanking. Especially, they are affected by the clearance of punch and die, by the force of blanking holder and by the force of counter punch. The purpose of this research is to how the deformation behavior in shear zone more clearly, based on Green & Cauch's large deformation theory. The deformation behavior and cracks were investigated in each step of shear, according to punch penetration increase, the use of V-indenter ring and the hardness of materials. This research found that the transforming behavior was the same as pure discretion and the cracks could be prevented when hardness is low.

  • In many project-oriented production systems, e. g., shipyards or large-scale steel products manufacturing, resource loading by an activity is flexible, and the activity duration is a function of resource allocation. For example, if one doubles the size of the crew assigned to perform an activity, it may be feasible to complete the activity in half the duration. Such flexibility has been modeled by Weglarz [13] and by Leachman, Dincerler, and Kim [7[ in extended formulations of the resource-constrained poject scheduling problem. This paper presents a new algorithmic approach to the problem that combines the ideas proposed by the aforementioned authors. The method we propose involves a two-step approach : (1) solve the resource-constrained scheduling problem using a heuristic, and (2) using this schedule as an initial feasible solution, find improved resource allocations by solving a linear programming model. We provide computational results indicating the superiority of this approach to previous methodology for the resource-constrained scheduling problem. Extensions to the model to admit overlap relationship of the activities also are presented.
