Recently assessment of suppression of tumorigenicity 2 (ST2) level has become a useful cardiac biomarker in human medicine. This study compared serum ST2 levels and N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) levels between healthy dogs and dogs with chronic mitral valve disease. Twenty client-owned dogs were investigated. Dogs were divided into normal, asymptomatic, and symptomatic groups. Serum samples were used to measure levels of NT-proBNP and ST2. Samples for NT-proBNP were sent to IDEXX laboratory for analysis while ST2 levels were measured by using a canine interleukin 33 receptor ELISA kit. There was a significant difference in NT-proBNP levels between asymptomatic and symptomatic groups (P < 0.01), and between normal and symptomatic groups (P < 0.01). In contrast, ST2 levels were not relatively different between asymptomatic and symptomatic groups (P > 0.05). There was no significant difference was observed among all groups in ST2 study. The usefulness of measuring NT-proBNP level as a cardiac biomarker in dogs with chronic mitral valve disease was confirmed, but usefulness of the ST2 level was not observed. Further investigations are needed to evaluate the potential usefulness of ST2 level as a cardiac biomarker in canines.
The morphological change of ECG is the important diagnostic parameter to finding the malfunction of a heart. Generally ST segment deviation is concerned with myocardial abnormality. The aim of this study is to detect the change of ST in shape using a polynomial approximation method and the reference ST type. The developed algorithm consists of feature point detection, ST level detection and ST shape classification. The detection of QRS complex is accomplished using it's the morphological characteristics such as the steep slope and high amplitude. The developed algorithm detects the ST level change, and then classifies the ST shape type using the polynomial approximation. The algorithm finds the least squares curve for the data between S wave and T wave in ECG. This curve is used for the classification of the ST shapes. ST type is classified by comparing the slopes of the specified points between the reference ST set and the least square curve. Through the result from the developed algorithm, we can know when the ST level change occurs and what the ST shape type is.

The 1st order level network of Korea was adjusted simultaneously in 1987. After that, the 1 st order level network of Korea was adjusted simultaneously by National Geographic Information Institute in 2006. The levelling data were acquired by digital level with invar staff from 2001 through 2006. The 1st order level network consists of 36 level lines. Among them, 34 level lines comprise 11 level loops. Among 36 level lines, 4 level lines have fore & back error larger than the regulations for the 1st order levelling of NGII, Korea. Also, the closing error of 3 loops of level network exceed the regulation for the 1st order levelling of NGII. The standard error of fore and back leveling between bench marks(${\eta}_1$) are distributed between 0.2 $mm/{\surd}km$ and 1.7 $mm/{\surd}km$. The standard error of loop closing(${\eta}_2$) is 2.0 $mm/{\surd}km$. This result means that the 1st order level network of Korea qualifies for the high precision leveling defined by International Geodetic Association in 1948. As the result of the 1st order level network adjustment, the reference standard error($\hat{{\sigma}_0}$) of the level network was 1.8 $mm/{\surd}km$, which is twice as good as that of the 1st adjustment of level networks in 1987.

The 1st order vertical network of Korea was adjusted in 1987 at first time. This is the second adjustment of the 1st order vertical network of Korea by National Geographic Information Institute. All the levelling data were acquired by digital level with invar staff. The number of 1st order level lines are 36, and 34 level lines comprise 11 circles of level network. Backward and forward error of a few level lines are larger than the regulations of NGII, Korea. Also, 3 circles of vertical network has circuit closure error that is exceed the regulation. As the result of 1st order vertical network adjustment, the reference standard error of the vertical network was $1.8mm/{\surd}km$.

A metabolism trial was conducted with 28 Najdi rams allocated into seven dietary groups to evaluate the effect of dietary inclusion of Salicornia bigelovii Torr biomass on nutrient digestibility, rumina I fluid metabolites and nitrogen and mineral balances. Either the stems (ST) or spikes (SP) of this seawater-irrigated halophyte were incorporated into complete diets at rates of 0, 10, 20 and 30% levels, replacing equal amounts of rhodesgrass hay in a ground mixed control diet. Digestibility of DM, OM, EE, NFE and fecal and urinary nitrogen were not affected by increased level of ST in the diet. As level of ST increased from 0 to 20% in the diets, CP digestibility and nitrogen retention approached their maximum (p<0.01), whereas CF digestibility reached its minimum (p<0.01). On the other hand, except for EE, digestion of all nutrients and nitrogen retention were linearly depressed (p<0.01) as SP increased in the diets from 10 to 30% level. Concentration of ammonia-N, total VFA and pH values in the rumen fluid were lower (p<0.01) with the ST- or SP-fed diets than with the control diet. Increasing level of ST or SP in the diet was associated with an increase (p<0.01) in the proportion of acetate and a decline (p<0.01) in molar percentage of propionate in the ruminal fluid. Sodium absorption increased (p<0.01) with increased ST and SP in the diets up to the 10 and 20% level, respectively, followed by constant absorption values up to the 30% level. When the level of ST in the diet gradually increased to 30%, a concomitant increased (p<0:01) in Ca and P absorption were obvious; whereas, increased level of SP in the diets from 0 to 30% resulted in noticeable (p<0.01) depression in Ca and P apparent absorption.

Objective : The purpose of this study is To investigate the effects of acupuncture and moxibustion at Zusanli(ST36) and Weishu(BL21) Methods : serum gastrin level by radioimmunoassay was measured at 5 days after acupuncture and moxibustion of those acupoints. Gastric endocrine cell(G cell and Histamine immunoreactive density) by avidin-biotinylated complex(ABC) technique, histological examinations(Alcian Blue-PAS Stain; Alcian blue-Periodic Acid Schiff reagent) of the gastric mucosa were also performed. Acupuncture applied to the ST36 acupoint increased gastrin level of serum, but moxibustion did not produced significant effect. All of acupuncture and moxibustion at BL21 acupoint increased gastrin level of serum significantly. In moxibustion at ST36 and BL21, the number of gastrin secreting cells in gastric mucosa, the density of immunoreactive histamin secreting cells and the density of body mucosa stained by PAS were decreased compare to acupuncture at ST36 and BL21. In acupuncture and moxibustion at BL21, the density of pylorus mucosa stained by PAS were increased compare to the groups applied to ST36. In the density of body mucosa stained by AB, moxibustion at BL21 and ST36 were increased compare to the other groups. Results : These data suggest that acupuncture and moxibustion at BL21 increased gastrin level of serum and those effects were more potent than acupuncture at ST36.

To investigate the effect of acupuncture on Zusanli (ST 36) in this study, gastrin level of serum by radioimmunoassay was measured at 1, 3, 6 weeks in rats. In other groups, 1 mg/day omeprazole was administered for 1, 3, 6 weeks. Omeprazole increased significantly gastrin level of serum at 1, 3, 6 weeks in a time dependent manner. Acupuncture applied to the ST 36 acupoint decreased at 1, 3, 6 weeks. Furthermore, acupuncture applied to other acupoint, Yanglinquan (GB 34) did not produced significant effect. When the common peroneal nerve was dissected, acupuncture of ST 36 produced the change of gastrin level. These data suggest that acupuncture decreased gastrin level of serum in point specific way and that effect was not related with surrounding nerve.

This paper describes an automated detection algorithm of ST-T episodes using global curvature which can connect the isoelectric level in ECG and can eliminate not only the slope of ST segment, but also difference of the baseline and global curve. This above method of baseline correction is very faster than the classical baseline correction methods. The optimal values of parameters for baseline correction were found as the value having the highest detection rate of ST episode. The features as input of backpropagation Neural Network were extracted from the whole ST segment. The European ST-T database was used as training and test data. Finally, ST elevation, ST depression and normal ST were classified. The average ST episode sensitivity and predictivity were 85.42%, 80.29%, respectively. This result shows the high speed and reliability in ST episode detection. In conclusion, the proposed method showed the possibility in various applications for the Holter system.
When the existing polder levee was constructed, the river's numerical analysis decided the bank raise by applying the planned flood stage or by using the result from the sectional 1st dimensional numerical analysis. But, it was presented that there is a limitation in the 1st dimensional value analysis when the structure like the polder levee obstructs the special shaped running water flow. Therefore, in order to verify the numerical value applicability when the polder levee is constructed, this report compared each other through the 1st and 2nd dimensional numerical analysis and the mathematical principle model laboratory. In case of the polder levee construction through the numerical analysis and the mathematical principle model laboratory, it was decided that there was no big problem in the 1st dimensional numerical analysis applied design, considering the uncertainty of mathematical principle analysis though the first dimensional numerical analysis was calculated a little bigger than the second. But, after construction, it was found that the water level deviation of the 1st, 2nd occurred biggest at the place where the flow was divided into two. Also, as a result of comparing the 1st, 2nd dimensional numerical analysis with the mathematical principle model laboratory, it was confirmed that the 1st numerical analysis applied design decreased the modal safety largely, as the left side water level was calculated smaller more than 0.5m in case of the 1st dimensional numerical analysis.

To compare the efficacy of Stephaniae Tetrandrae Rhizoma and Sinomenii Caulis which are medicinal plants used as Bang Kee(防己), the plants were combined with Astragali Radix and Lycopii Herba into 6 different medicinal decoctions. The specimen decoctions prepared were each decoctions of Stephaniae Tetrandrae Rhizoma(St), Sinomenii Caulis(Si), Stephaniae Tetrandrae Rhizoma-Astragali Radix(StA), Stephaniae Tetrandrae Rhizoma-Lycopii Herba(StL), Sinomenii Caulis-Astragali Radix(SiA) and Sinomenii Caulis-Lycopii Herba(SiL). They were dosed to rats with induced hyperlipidemia. In the groups of rats with hyperlipidemia induced by high cholesterol diet, in the group which St was dosed to, there was no significant effect on the level of Tc, TG, HDLc. And in the group which Si was dosed to, the level of Tc, TG dropped and that of HDLc rose. In the groups of rats with hyperlipidemia induced by high cholesterol diet, in the group which StA was dosed to, there was no significant change in the level of Tc, TG, or HDLc. But in the group which SiA was dosed to, the level of Tc and TG dropped and that of HDLc rose. In the groups of rats with hyperlipidemia induced by high cholesterol diet, in the group which StL was dosed to, the level of TG dropped, but there was no significant change in the level of Tc or HDLc. And in the SiL group, there was no significant change in the level of Tc or TG, but the level of HDLc rose. On diseases such as hyperlipidemia, when using drug couple of Bang Kee-Astragali Radix as a treatment, Sinomenii Caulis is recommended rather than Stephaniae Tetrandrae Rhizoma, and when using drug couple of Bang Kee-Lycopii Herba as a treatment, Sinomenii Caulis and Stephaniae Tetrandrae Rhizoma neither showed significant effect. And as Lycopii Herba interrupts the effect of Sinomenii Caulis, drug couple of Sinomenii Caulis-Lycopii Herba is not recommended.
