  • Recently, SRMs are used in automobiles for power assistant steering, accessory motion control and traction drives. Especially in the motion control and traction drives, safety and efficiency are of paramount important. The paper describes the essential elements, faced in designing and constructing drive circuits for a switched reluctance motor for automobiles. These converters will be referred to as energy efficient C-dump converter and modified C-dump converter Energy efficient C-dump converter topology eliminate all the disadvantages of the C-dump converter without sacrificing its attractive features, and also provide some additional advantages that have lower number of power devices, full regenerative capability, free-wheeling in chopping or PWM mode, simple control strategy, and faster demagnetization during commutation. The experiments are peformed to verify the capability of proposed control method on 6/4 salient type SRM.

  • 본 논문에서는 위치 센서인 엔코더를 이용하여 토로이달 SRM을 구동시, 각 상의 슬롯에 감긴 서치 코일에서 유기되는 전압 파형을 분석했으며, 그 유기전압을 이용해 회전자의 위치를 추적하는 방법을 제안하였다. 그리고 이 추적 방법을 토대로 엔코더 없이 서치코일만으로 위치를 검출하여 토로이달 SRM을 구동시키는 방법을 제안하였다. 엔코더를 사용하지 않고 서치 코일에서 특정지점을 검출하여 토로이달 6/4 SRM을 구동시켜 그 타당성을 검증하였다.

  • This paper presents a speed estimation algorithm of Switched Reluctance Motor(SRM) using flux-linkage modeling. The basic algorithm of this scheme is based on the flux linkage characteristic according to the phase current and the rotor position. A sufficient simulation and experimental data was used for neural network training. Through measurement of the phase flux linkage and phase currents, the neural network is able to estimate the rotor position and speed. The simulation result shows some good results, and possibility of this algorithm.

  • In a switched reluctance motor drive, it is important to synchronize the stator phase excitation with the rotor position, because the position of rotor is an essential information. In the high-speed region, switching angles are fluctuated back and forth out of the preset value, which is caused by the sampling period of the microprocessor. In this paper, a low cost analog encoder suitable for practical applications is proposed. The validity of the proposed analog encoder with a proper logic controller is verified from the experiments.

  • This paper presents a design and analysis of torque characteristics of a two-phase SRM(Switched Reluctance Motor) for high speed blower system. To reduce the electrical frequency and core losses at high speed region, In order to reduce torque ripple and torque dead-band, variable rotor air-gap structure is adopted and the air-gap is optimized according to torque production. The optimized torque output is verified by the FEM results.

  • In this paper, an advanced torque control scheme of Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) using modified non-linear logical TSF (Torque Sharing Function) based on the DITC (direct instantaneous torque control) with PWM(Pulse Width Modulation). In the proposed control scheme, a simple calculation of PWM duty ratio, switching rules from DITC and non-linear torque sharing function can reduce the torque ripple with fixed switching frequency. The proposed control scheme is verified by the computer simulations and experimental results.

  • Industrial interest in switched reluctance moor (SRM) drives has varied since 1850s. This has been primarily due to the emerging markets for variable speed drives in consumer and industrial products, such as home appliances, air conditioning, hand tools, fans, pump motor, etc. However, SRM has been plagued with the acoustic noise and vibration problem by input power of fixed section. Therefore, This paper offers electromagnetic analysis for torque ripple reduction in mechanical geometry and electric parameters. This means that the rotor pole arc and electric parameters have related to produce the active and negative torque. This analysis results are verified by the finite element method.

  • This paper presents a comparison of the rotor position estimation of a switched reluctance motor(SRM) with built-in search coils. Squared euclidean distance, fuzzy logic and neural network are used to estimate the rotor position. The simulation is performed by three methods and the results are compared. The experiment of squared euclidean distance is achieved and compared with the simulation result.

  • Switched Reluctance Motor(SRM) drive system is known to provide good torque characteristics and high efficiency drive. However, speed variation caused by higher torque ripple is one of main drawback. The Phase-Locked Loop (PLL) technique in conjunction with dynamic dwell angle control has good speed regulation characteristics. In this paper, appropriate advance angle control for high efficiency drive and PLL technique for accurate speed control is proposed. A TMS320F240 DSP is used to realize this drive system. Test results show that the system has good dynamic and precise speed control ability as well as high efficiency.
