  • There is various kinds cause that influence to created DEM and orthoimage using stereo satellite images. Specialty, research about effect that GCP number gives to accuracy of DEM, orthoimage and modeling may have to be gone ahead. Therefore, this research increases GCP number by 5 to 30 and created each modeling, DEM and orthoimage using SPOT panchromatic images that resolution is 10m by digital image processing method. Accuracy assessment did by orthoimage using 20 check point. As a result, GCP number between 10∼30 modeling RMSE is 1 pixel low appear. Horizontal·vertical error that use orthoimage looked tendency that decrease GCP number increases, and confirmed by the most economical in GCP number 10∼15. Also, analyze correlation of GCP number and orthoimage position accuracy and presented improvement plan and research task hereafter.

  • This paper proposes an automatic extraction method of control point based on Geospatial Web Service. The proposed method consists of 3 steps. 1) The first step is to acquires reference data using the Geospatial Web Service. 2) The second step is to finds candidate control points in reference data and the target image by SURF algorithm. 3) By using RANSAC algorithm, the final step is to filters the correct matching points of candidate control points as final control points. By using the Geospatial Web Service, the proposed method increases operation convenience, and has the more extensible because of following the OGC Standard. The proposed method has been tested for SPOT-1, SPOT-5, IKONOS satellite images and has been used military standard data as reference data. The proposed method yielded a uniform accuracy under RMSE 5 pixel. The experimental results proved the capabilities of continuous improvement in accuracy depending on the resolution of target image, and showed the full potential of the proposed method for military purpose.

  • For classifying fire damaged areas and analyzing burn severity of two large-fire areas damaged over 100 ha in 2011, three methods were employed utilized supervised classification, unsupervised classification and Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI). In this paper, the post-fire imageries of SPOT were used to compute the Maximum Likelihood (MLC), Minimum Distance (MIN), ISODATA, K-means, NDVI and to evaluate large-scale patterns of burn severity from 1 m to 5 m spatial resolutions. The result of the accuracy verification on burn severity from satellite images showed that average overall accuracy was 88.38 % and the Kappa coefficient was 0.8147. To compare the accuracy between burn severity and field survey at Uljin and Youngduk, two large fire sites were selected as study areas, and forty-four sampling plots were assigned in each study area for field survey. The burn severities of the study areas were estimated by analyzing burn severity (BS) classes from SPOT images taken one month after the occurrence of the fire. The applicability of composite burn index (CBI) was validated with a correlation analysis between field survey data and burn severity classified by SPOT5, and by their confusion matrix. The result showed that correlation between field survey data and BS by SPOT5 were closely correlated in both Uljin (r = -0.544 and p<0.01) and Youngduk (r = -0.616 and p<0.01). Thus, this result supported that the proposed burn severity analysis is an adequate method to measure burn severity of large fire areas in Korea.

  • Soil erosion by rainfall is important factor for basin management because it reduces reservoir capacity and breaks out the contamination of water caused by turbid water. Recently, soil erosion study with GIS is in progress but does not consider soil erosion source area. This study calculated soil erosion amount using GIS-based soil erosion model in Imha basin and examined soil erosion source area using SPOT 5 High-resolution satellite image and land cover map. As a result of analysis, dry field showed high-density soil erosion area and we could easily investigate source area using satellite image. Also we could examine the suitability of soil erosion area by applying field survey method in common areas such as dry field and orchard area those are difficult to confirm soil erosion source area using satellite image.

  • In this study, the epipolar images were created by both methods of resolution adjustment and piecewise approach using RPC(Rational Polynomial coefficients) and ancillary data of IKONOS-2 and SPOT-5 satellite images whose resolutions are different from each other. The stereo geometry of these two satellite images was analyzed and the RPC block modelling was accomplished for generating epipolar images. In order to evaluate the accuracy of created epipolar images, the y-parallaxes were analyzed for the specific points which were apparently identified in mountainous, plain and urban area. Also the RMSEs of the specific points were calculated using the coordinates from the epipolar stereo images and the coordinates from the block triangulation. Y-parallaxes were within one pixel and the RMSEs were within two meters for X, Y and Z each.

  • This paper presents photogrammetric processing to generate digital elevation models and deals with the accuracy potential of SPOT-5 HRG supermode imagery for DEM generation. The DEMs obtained from digital topographic maps of 1/5000 scale were used as the refernce DEM data. DEMs extracted from HRG dats were compared with digital topograpic map DEMs on severed test sections. And digital surface model(DSM), refering to above the ground like buildings, was produced about the test built-up area.

  • The classification of the satellite images is basic part in Remote sensing. In classification of the satellite images, class separability feature is very effective accuracy of the images classified. For improving classification accuracy, It is necessary to study classification methode than analysis of class separability feature deciding classification probability. In this study, IKONOS, SPOT 5, Landsat TM, were resampled to sizes 1m grid. Above images were calculated the class separability prior to the step for classification of pixels. This Study concludes, each image was measured by the rate of class separability, values classified were showed highly about $1,600{\sim}2,000$.

  • With acquisition of satellite image being facilitated due to recent advancement in Electro optical and astronautic technologies, focus on establishment of Geoinformation and analysis using satellite images have increased. This research have conducted digital plotting and digitizing operation, utilizing stereo images and grey level images provided by SPOT5 satellite and evaluated the accuracy through comparison and analysis with digital map results. Digital plotting results acquired using stereo images have been compared and analyzed on the basis of scale 1:25,000 digital map results published by National Geographic Information Institute. Accuracy of 20 check points have showed RMSE results 5.369 m at X (Easting) and 4.718 m, digitizing using grey level images showed RMSE results 7.616 m in X (Easting) and Y (Northing) 6.532 m. This is within the allowance of accuracy standards for scale 1:25,000 maps, and although digitizing operation was confirmed to have lower accuracy than that of digital plotting, using the former is considered to be more effective in terms of economical efficiency.

  • Texture features can be incorporated in classification procedure to resolve class confusions. However, there have been few application-oriented studies made to evaluate the relative powers of texture analysis methods in a particular environment. This study evaluates the increases in the land-cover classification accuracy of the SPOT HRV multispectral data of Pusan Metropolitan area from texture processing. Twenty-four texture measures were derived from the SPOT HRV band 3 image. Each of these features were used in combination with the three spectral images in the classification of 10 land-cover classes. Supervised training and a Gaussian maximum likelihood classifier were used in the classification. It was found that while entropy produces the best empirical results in terms of the overall classification, other texture features can also largely improve the classification accuracies obtained by the use of the spectral images only. With the inclusion of texture, the classification for each category improves. Specially, urban built-up areas had much increase in accuracy. The results indicate that texture size 5 by 5 and 7 by 7 may be suitable at land cover classification of Pusan Metropolitan area.
