반복하중을 받는 SD500 고강도 철근용 모르타르 충전식 슬리브 철근이음의 구조성능 (Structural Performance of Mortar-filled Sleeve Splice for SD500 High-strength Reinforcing Bar under Cyclic Loading)

  • 본 연구에서는 보다 자유로운 형상의 슬리브를 만들 수 있는 구상흑연 주철을 이용하여 보다 효과적으로 구조성능을 발휘하면서 SD500 고강도 철근에 적합하게 개발된 모르타르 충전식 슬리브 철근이음을 대상으로 실물크기의 19개 실험체를 제작하여 반복가력실험을 실시하였다. 그리고 강도, 강성, 슬립을 중심으로 한 구조성능에 대하여 본 실험의 주요한 변수에 따르는 영향을 분석하고, 국내기준을 비롯한 주요기준의 요구 성능과 비교하였다. 본 연구결과에서는 SD500 고강도 철근용으로 개발한 모르타르 충전식 슬리브 철근이음은 반복하중이 작용하는 경우에 대하여 국내기준을 비롯한 주요기준에서 요구하는 구조성능을 보유하고 있는 것이 확인되었고, SD500 고강도 철근용 모르타르 충전식 슬리브 철근이음에 대한 구조설계 기준 정립에 필요한 정량적인 기술 데이터를 제시하였다.

  • This study is performed to investigate the behavior of multi-column piers and to evaluate the seismic performance. In this study, 3 types of scale model piers with 2-column are designed and tested by quasi-static load in both longitudinal and transverse directions. Each type of model consisting of 2 specimens has different reinforcement details in the lap splice of longitudinal bars and amount of transverse reinforcements. This paper reports that the ductility of the model in transverse direction is rather higher than in longitudinal direction because of formation of several plastic hinges and that the ultimate displacement and the energy absorbtion capacity are enhanced by using continuous longitudinal bars instead of lap-splice ones. And it is confirmed that relatively large amount of ductility can be achieved by providing sufficient lap-splice length and transverse reinforcements with end hook even if longitudinal bars are lap spliced in the base of pier.

  • Lap splice in plastic hinge region of RC bridge piers is inevitable because of the constructional joint between footing and column. RC circular columns with lap-splice in plastic hinge region are widely used in Korean highway bridges. It is, however, believed that there are not many experimental research works for nonlinear behavior of these columns subjected to earthquake motions. This study has been performed to verify the effect of axial force, lap splice and confinement steel ratio for the seismic behaviour of reinforced concrete bridge piers. Quasi-static test have been done to investigate the physical seismic performance of RC bridge piers, such as displacement ductility and enemy absorption.

Seismic Performance and Retrofit of Circular Bridge Piers with Spliced Longitudinal Steel

  • It is known that lap splice in the longitudinal reinforcement of reinforced concrete(RC) bridge columns is not desirable for seismic performance, but it is sometimes unavoidable. Lap splices were practically located in the potential plastic hinge region of most bridge columns that were constructed before the adoption of the seismic design provision of Korea Bridge Design Specification on 1992. The objective of this research is to evaluate the seismic performance of reinforced concrete(RC) bridge piers with lap splicing of longitudinal reinforcement in the plastic hinge region, to develop the enhancement scheme of their seismic capacity by retrofitting with glassfiber sheets, and to develop appropriate limited ductility design concept in low or moderate seismicity region. Nine test specimens in the aspect ratio of 4 were made with three confinement ratios and three types of lap splice. Quasi-static test was conducted in a displacement-controlled way under three different axial load levels. A significant reduction of displacement ductility ratios was observed for test columns with lap splices of longitudinal steels.

높은 마디 고강도 철근의 이음성능 (Splice Length of High Relative Rib Area Reinforcing Bars)

  • The use of higher strength materials frequently requires the change of design provisions. Following to the previous researches, high strength reinforcing bars have a weak point about the development and splice length. Based on the previous research about high relative rib area, bond strength between reinforcing bars and concrete can be improved by the control of rib height and spacing. But, the code provisions do not include these specific shape of reinforcing bars. So, the purpose of this paper is to determine the effect of relative rib area to the bond strength. This paper describes the experiment and analysis of 5 beam-spliced specimens containing D25 with relative rib areas ranging from 0.073 to 0.17. The test results are also analyzed to make a design formula about the calculation of splice length on the consideration of relative rib area.

  • Experimental results on lap splice performance of high performance fiber reinforced cementitious composite(HPFRCC) with fiber types under repeated loading are reported. Fiber types were polypropylene(PP), polyethylene(PE) and hybrid fiber[polyethylene fiber+steel cord(PE+SC)]. The development length($l_d$) was calculated according to the relevant ACI code requirements for reinforcing bars in concrete. The current experimental results demonstrated clearly that the use of fibers in cementitious matrixes increases significantly the splice strength of reinforcing bars in tension. Also, the presence of fibers increased the number of cracks formed around the spliced bars.

  • Several experimental investigations have been carried out to study the behavior of reinforced concrete columns with short lap splices. However, very few analytical models have been developed for the analysis of such columns subjected to earthquakes. As nonlinear analysis procedures become more common in practice (such as those outlined in the Guidelines for Seismic Rehabilitation of Buildings published by the Federal Emergency Management Agency in the United States), the need for an accurate and reliable representation of the nonlinear response of strength degrading systems becomes more important. In this study, an analytical model for estimating the complete response of reinforced concrete columns with short lap splices is presented. The model is based on local bond stress-slip relationships and is validated against independent experimental data from cyclic loading tests on reinforced concrete columns with typical construction details of the 1960s. In this paper a simple equation for calculating the bar stress at splice failure is presented. Use of the proposed equation resulted in excellent agreement between the measured and calculated strength at splice failure.

  • Green frame is column-beam structure composed of precast concrete members. Based on Revision of Structural Concrete Design Code, the bottom rebar of beam shall be extend at least 150mm into the support member. However, if the bottom rebar extend to satisfy Revision of Structural Concrete Design Code, the installation fo beam is impossible due to interference between the columns and beams. Thus, the aim of this study is estimation of production length of precast concrete beam by using splice length of bottom rebar. In this study to solve this problem, lap splice were used on the join. This study was calculated length of the reinforcement by the diameter. According to the length of the rebar, the production length of beam concrete was calculated. The results of this study will satisfy the Revision of Structural Concrete Design Code about column-beam connection when green frame will be applied.

  • This paper describes the study on the basic characteristics of discharge generated in cable splices using ultrasonic measurement method. Two kinds of defect which might be existed in a real cable splice were simulated. One is surface discharge moisture and metallic alien substances and the other is partial discharge by metallic particle. As a result, there were some differences in the characteristics of ultrasonic signals according to each defect. Therefore, it was found that is could be possible to protect the failure in cable splices in advance by analyzing the ultrasonic signals coming from the cable splice due to partial discharge.
