Percicarp anatomy of Fagophrum was examined on the basis of 12 species and two subspecies to contribute to a better understanding of specific phylogenetic relationship within genus. Examined species have a similar mature pericarp structure, but differences among the species are found with respect to whether or not sclerotic cells are present, and what kind of is the sclerotic cell shape in theexocarp. By the comparisons with pericarp anatomical structure, they are classified into three groups. First clade is composed of F. esculentum , F. esculentum ssp. ancestralis and F. homotropicum ; second clade is consisted of F. tataricum, F. tataricum ssp. potanini and Fl cymosum ; third clade is composed of f. callianthum,F. capillatum, F. gracilipes, F. leptopodum, F.lineare, F. pleioramosum, F.statice and F.urophyllum. The phylogey based on pericarp characters was considerably consistent with ones proposed by previous authors. It also suggested that pericarp characters are useful informatino for deduceing phylogenetic phylogenetic realtionship within geneus Fagopyrum. On the other hand, morphological character evolution indicated that there are tow synapomorphies in genus. There,it was suggested that these species having selfing and homostylous characters are evolved form heterostylous and ourcrossing species.
To increase of weed researches, abbreviations for Korean weeds name(tentatively named 'KSWS code', the Korean Society Weed Science code) of 433 species belonging to 68 families in arable land were suggested in this paper. The KSWS code was derived from Bayer code or/and modified. The KSWS code was composed of alphabetic 5 characters, namely 3 characters in generic name and 2 characters in specific name. And variable species's KSWS code was 1 characters in generic name and 1 characters in variable name.
Species boundaries among the Alcyonacean soft coral, the genus Dendronephthya, are often obscured by inter- and intraspecific morphological variations. In the present study, we attempted to infer the genetic relationships of eight dendronephthians based on their molecular characters, the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) regions of ribosomal DNA, and then compared this result together with the random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) data from our previous investigation. Dendronephthya. putteri and D. suensoni formed a divaricate form - VI grade specific clade, whereas D. castanea, D. gigantea, D. aurea and D. spinifera, formed a umbellate and glomerate form - IV and III grade specific clade. Therefore, we confirmed that the main characters the growth form and the anthocodial grade and formula, are important in identification of the species in dendronephthians despite some problems. Also, the relationships of the growth form are clarified as the glomerate form is much closer to the umbellate form than to the divaricate form based on two sets of independent molecular data. However, we cannot determine the molecular markers which limit the species boundaries among this genus with ITS sequences.

Member of the genus Tobrilus Andrássy, 1959, which belongs to Tobrilidae Filipjev, 1918, are known as free-living nematodes in freshwater habitat. This genus was previously unknown from Korea. Five Tobrilus species are here reported for the first time from Korea: Tobrilus aberrans (Schneider, 1925), Tobrilus diversipapillatus (Daday, 1905), Tobrilus gracilis (Bastian, 1865), Tobrilus longus (Leidy, 1851), and Tobrilus wesenbergi (Micoletzky, 1925). Specimens were collected from sediments of the Nakdong River in Korea. Morphological characters and measurements of the specimens generally agree with the original descriptions of Tobrilus species, except for some differences that can be attributed to intraspecific variation among populations(e.g., nerve ring position [% pharynx] and reproductive length). Each species can be distinguished from other members of the genus by specific characters (e.g., cephalic setae length and position, buccal cavity and pocket shape, vulva position, degree of development of reproductive system, and tail length and shape). Here, five species in the genus Tobrilus are fully redescribed and illustrated using optical microscopy images. DNA barcode sequence information (the D2-D3 region of 28S rDNA) is also provided for molecular species identification.

A taxonomic revision of Deutzia in Korea was conducted based on critical observations of wild populations and herbarium specimens. Species delimitations were re-evaluated on the basis of morphological characters and distributions resulting in the recognition of five taxa. The texture of leaf, flower disk and capsules, the shape of leaf, inflorescence and capsules are useful diagnostic traits at the specific level. The five taxa are well distinguished from each other. Deutzia grandiflora var. baroniana can be distinguished by its distribution and calyx from Deutzia uniflora, which are morphologically similar. Deutzia paniculata Nakai, a rare and endemic plant, is characterized by having panicle in inflorescences. On the other hand, Deutzia glabrata Kom. is occasionally confused with Deutzia parviflora, but the most distinctive characters include the surface of leaves, the surface and size of capsules. Photographs and a key to five species of Deutzia were provided in addition to distribution.
A new species, Miscanthus wangpicheonensis of section Kariyasua, is described and illustrated from the morphological characteristics based on a type specimen collected from Gyeongsangbuk-do. This new species is similar to Miscanthus sacchariflorus (Maxim.) Hack., and M. longiberbis (Hack.) Nakai. The characters which distinguish the above two species are short leaves and racemes, callus hairs 1-1.5-times longer than spikelet, and well-developed awns of spikelet. The specific epithet, "wangpicheonensis", is based on the name of the locality where the new species is found. We assume this new species originated from the hybridization of Miscanthus sacchariflorus (Maxim.) Hack., and M. longiberbis (Hack.) Nakai. Miscanthus wangpicheonensis is found in only one locality in Uljin-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do, Republic of Korea.
Arbuscular mycorrhizas (AM) have mutualistic symbiosis with plants and thus efforts have been placed on application of these symbiotic relationships to agricultural and environmental fields. In this study, AM fungi were collected from 25 sites growing with 16 host plant species in Korea and cultured with Sorghum bicolor in greenhouse condition. AM fungal spores were extracted and identified using both morphological and molecular methods. Using morphological characters, total 15 morpho-speices were identified. DNA was extracted from single spore of AM fungi and a partial region on 18S rDNA was amplified using nested PCR with AM fungal specific primers AML1/AML2. A total of 36 18S rDNA sequences were analyzed for phylogenetic analysis and 15 groups of AM fungi were identified using both morphological and molecular data of spores. Among the species, 4 species, Archaeospora leptoticha, Scutellospora castanea, S. cerradensis, S. weresubiae were described for the first time in Korea and two species in Glomus and a species in Gigaspora were not identified. Morphological and molecular identification of AM fungal spores in this study would help identify AM fungal community colonizing roots.

A taxonomic study was recently carried out on species of the tribe Ceramieae (Ceramiaceae, Rhodophyta), following an evaluation of previously published records and on the basis of field and laboratory investigations. In Morocco, the tribe is represented by 5 genera: Ceramium (21 taxa at specific and infraspecific levels), Gayliella (3 species), and by one species each of Centroceras, Corallophila and Microcladia. Among these, there are five new records for Morocco: Centroceras gasparrinii, Ceramium botryocarpum, Ceramium cingulatum, Ceramium echionotum var. mediterraneum, and Gayliella taylorii. The report of C. echionotum var. mediterraneum from the Atlantic coast of Morocco is one of the rare records from outside the Mediterranean. Ceramium ciliatum var. robustum and Ceramium codii are recorded for the first time from the Atlantic coast of Morocco. Centroceras clavulatum is excluded from Moroccan flora having been misidentified for C. gasparrinii. This paper summarizes the taxonomic characters of these species with images and presents a key for their identification. This report is the first detailed record of the species of the tribe Ceramieae for Morocco. As a result, the total number of taxa at both specific and infraspecific levels accepted in the tribe Ceramieae for Morocco, under current taxonomy and nomenclature, is 27.
A new genus Parkiana Cho, gen. nov., belonging to Torodorinae of Lecithoceridae, is described from Madagascar, with two new species: P. matutinalis Cho & Agassiz, sp. nov. and P. andasibensis Cho & Agassiz, sp. nov. Although superficially similar to Thubdora Park, 2018, some of their morphological characters, such as wing venation, are unique and the species of the genus are grouped apart from Thubdora in a preliminary phylogenetic analysis based on COI barcode sequences. In addition to the specific descriptions, adults and genitalia for the two new species are illustrated.
Numerical analyses using 28 morphological characters from 14 populations of four Korean Orostachys species were conducted to investigate infra-specific variation and to test species relationships. The resulting phenogram recognized three distinct clusters, and the populations of O. malacophyllus, O. iwarenge and O. minutus were closely related each other. The populations of O. japonicus from Gaeksanri (I) and Gadeuk-do were isolated from the remaining populations of the species, and it suggests that the ranges of morphological variation within the species are significant, and related to the previous cytological variation. The Jungdongjin population of O. malacophyllus was not grouped together with the same species, but was clustered with the populations of the O. japonicus, and suggested that it seems to be an unrelated population in O. malacophyllus. The results of the PCA analysis recognized two distinct groups: the populations of O. japonicus and remaining species populations. The populations of O. malacophyllus, O. minutus and O. iwarenge placed within the closely related species.
