  • In this study, we analyzed the accuracy of the conversion from DLT parameters to physical camera parameters and optimized the use of DLT model for non-metric cameras in photogrammetric tasks. Using the simulated data, we computed two sets of physical camera parameters from DLT parameters and Bundle adjustment for various cases. Comparing two results based on the RMSE values of check points, we optimized the arrangement of GCPs for DLT.

  • We present a simple and efficient spatial object indexing scheme based on the minimum bounding rectangles (MBR) of the objects for use in applications in geographic information system (GIS). We also provide the rationale behind the simple indexing scheme instead of other complex hierarchical indexing approaches such as the R-tree and its variants.

  • The dissemination of commercial satellite images. which have the high spatial resolution such as aerial photos, are the active trend in remote sensing community because of the recent development in satellite and sensor technology. Such high resolution satellite images provide a unique tool for the monitoring of ongoing urban land use change. Especially KOMPSAT-1, which was launched at December 1999 and successfully operated up to now, provides repeatedly panchromatic images over Korean peninsula, which has the spatial resolution of 6.6m. Based upon this KOMPSAT-1 EOC image data we can try to analyze and assess the temporal urban land use change, which could not be done because lack of such data. The aim of this paper is to analyze and assess the spatial land use characteristics of Daejeon Metropolitan City based on KOMPSAT-1 EOC data. The land use map of year 2001 is generated through the modification of the year 2000 land use map, which is published by National Geographic Information Institute, using visual interpretation of KOMPSAT-1 EOC image which is acquired in year 2001. This study can be the start point of the time series analysis of the long term land use change monitoring mit KOMPSAT-1 EOC data.

  • Prognostic meteorological model, MM5V3 (Mesoscale Model 5 Version 3) was used to assess the effects of the land-use modifications on spatial variations of temperature and wind fields in Busan during the selected period of summer season in 2000. We first examined sensitivity analysis for temperature between MM5V3 predictions and meteorological data observed at 4 AWS (Automatic Weather System) stations in Busan, which exhibited low structural and accurate errors (Mean Bias Error, MBE: 0.73, Root Mean Square Error, RMSE: 1.18 on maximum). The second part of this paper, MMSV3 simulations for the modification of land-use was performed with 1 km resolution in target domain, 46$\times$46 $\textrm{km}^2$ area around city of Busan. It was found that modification result from change of surface land-use in central urban area altered spatial distributions of temperature and wind. In particular, heat island core moved slightly to the seaward at 1300 LST. This results may imply that modification of surface land-use leads to change the thermal environments; in addition, it has a significant effect on local wind circulations and dispersions of air pollutants.

  • To understand urban space and make appropriate plans, the integrative analyses considering road and land use simultaneously are required. In addition, studies that involve both horizontal and vertical spaces must be taken into consideration. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to conduct a classification analysis of road network-based land use considering spatial structure. The methods of this study were as follows; first, a space syntax theory considering the structure of road network was introduced for roads. For land use, to consider both horizontal and vertical development densities of residential and commercial buildings were used. And the explanatory power of three variables-Euclidean distance, global integration and length-reflected global integration-were compared. Third, based on road as an appropriate variable, modified-IPA was conducted with land use and the results were categorized into four areas. The proposed method was applied to Gangnam-gu, a CBD area in Seoul, and results were analyzed and visualized using GIS.

  • Food consumption pattern changes, including a decrease in rice consumption and increasing demand for fresh vegetables, along with declining food self-sufficiency rate, more importance is being placed on agricultural industry within Korea. Taking these changes into consideration, there is an increasing necessity for managing upland fields on agricultural sector to revitalize agricultural land use. Therefore, in this study, upland use type was classified into agricultural economic, environmental conservation, and rural social frames. The purpose of this study was to suggest upland use plan with farm manager registration information and spatial data. As results of this analysis, the mean area of agricultural economic frame in Haenam (16.47 ha) was found to be wider than Muan (3.17 ha), and scale improvement zones (54 zones) were located in only Haenam. In case of environmental conservation frame, there's no zone of scenic agriculture land in both study areas, but landuse transition zones were located in Muan (278 zones) and Haenam (604 zones). Agro-healing zones of rural social frame were 1,018 zones in Muan and 1,588 zones in Haenam and kitchen garden sites were 342 zones in Muan and 370 zones in Haenam. These results could be used when we establish the plan of an agricultural infrastructure project or select places for a collaborative agricultural land use project.

  • As a pilot project of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure, "Quality upgrade of continuous cadastral map and Conversion of land use zoning map" is performed last year. In this study, for the following main project, its result is analyzed and problems occurred on the way carried out are extracted. The area change before and after conversion is compared, and relationship with the continuous cadastral map is analysed on the data of Ansung-Si. And than, systematic improvement method is suggested based on that problem.

  • Road traffic noise is closely related with urban forms and urban components, such as population, building, traffic and land-use, etc. Hence, it is possible to minimize the noise exposure problem depending on how to plan new town or urban planning alteration. This paper provides ways to apply for urban planning in consideration of noise exposure through road traffic noise estimation for alteration of small-scale urban form. Spatial autoregressive model from the former study is used as statistical model for noise simulation. The simulation results by the spatial statistical model are compared with those by the engineering program-based modeling for 5 scenarios of small-scale urban form alteration. The error from the limitation of containing informations inside the grid cell and the difficulties of reflecting acoustic phenomena exists. Nevertheless, in the stage of preliminary design, the use of the statistical models that have been estimated well could be useful in time and economically.

  • In ubiquitous environments, many continuous query processing techniques make use of operator network and sharing methods on continuous data stream generated from various sensors. Since similar continuous queries with the location information intensively occur in specific regions, we suggest a new operator sharing method based on grid partition for the spatial continuous query processing for location-based applications. Due to the proposed method shares moving objects by the given grid cell without sharing spatial operators individually, our approach can not only share spatial operators including similar conditions, but also increase the query processing performance and the utilization of memory by reducing the frequency of use of spatial operators.
