Objectives: The purpose of this study was to compare Taebaek(SP3) Sinmun(HT7), Daedon(LR 1) Yongcheon(KI1) on the Blood Pressure in Hypertensive RAT induced by 2K1C. Methods : This experiments was to investigate the effects of Herbal-Acupuncture at Taebaek(SP3) Sinmun(HT7), Daedon(LR1) Yongcheon(KIl) on the Blood Pressure, Cardiomegalic index, plasma levels of renin, plasma levels of atrial natriuretic peptide(ANP), serum levels of potassium, and serum levels of aldosterone in Hypertensive RAT induced by 2KlC. Results : The results were as follows. I. Blood Pressure was decreased significantly after Herbal-Acupuncture of Taebaek(SP3) Sinmun(HT7), Daedon(LR1) Yongcheon(KI1). II. Cardiomegalic index was decreased significantly after Herbal-Acupuncture of Daedon(LRl) Yongcheon(KI1). III. Plasma levels of atrial natriuretic peptide(ANP) was increased significantly after Herbal-Acupuncture of Taebaek(SP3) Sinmun(HT7), Daedon(LRl) Yongcheon(KIl). IV. Plasma levels of renin was decreased significantly after Herbal-Acupuncture of Taebaek(SP3) Sinmun(HT7), Daedon(LRl) Yongcheon(KI1). Conclusion : These results suggest that Blood pressure was decreased significantly after Herbal-Acupuncture of Daedon(LRl) Yongcheon(KI1) in Hypertensive RAT induced by 2K1C.

Objectives : The aim of this study was to examine the effect acupuncture by needle manipulation at acupoints, SP3 HT7, on the blood pressure and renin and atrial natriuretic peptide(ANP) in plasma, cardiac hypertrophy in hypertensive rats induced by two kidney one clip (2K1C). Materials and Methods : The experiments were performed on twenty-five Sprague Dawley rats, 2K1C hypertension model was prepared by constricting the left renal artery with a sliver clip. Animals were divided into five groups, control, AC-1a and AC-2a(acupuncture at SP3 HT7 bilaterally and the needle was twirled and rotated forward with the thumb and forefinger of the right hand 6 times), AC-3a(acupuncture at SP3 HT7 bilaterally and the needle was inserted in the opposite direction(body direction) as the channel runs), AC-4a(acupuncture at SP3 HT7 bilaterally and the needle was inserted in the opposite direction(body direction) as the channel runs and the needle was twirled and rotated forward with the forefinger of the right hand 6 times). The treatments were started on the 4 week after inducing 2K1C, and they were performed two times a week for 3 weeks in rats. Results : The results are that The blood pressure was significantly decreased at 4 times in Acu-1a, The cardiac hypertrophy was significantly decrease in Acu-2a and Acu-3a. The activity of plasma renin was decreased in all groups without control and Acu-1a, and that of plasma ANP was decrease in Acu-2a and Acu-3a than control group. Conclusions : These results suggest that acupuncture on SP3 HT7 mostly cause significant changes on controlling renal hypertension induced by 2K1C in the rats.

Objectives : Acupuncture has been used as treatment of disease in the korean medicine. In this study, it was investigated that effects of reduction of acupuncture techniques of five evolutive phase for appling excess in the heart, kidney on cardiovascular system as blood pressure and renin and atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) in plasma, cardiac hypertrophy. Materials and methods : The experiments were performed on Sprague Dawley rats, 2K1C hypertension model was prepared by constricting the left renal artery with a sliver clip. Animals were then divided into seven groups, 2K1C induced and no treated group (Control), acupuncture on SP3 HT7(AC-1), LR1 KI1 (AC-2), SP3 HT7 LR1 KI1 (AC-3). The treatments were performed once a day for 10 days in rats. Results : The results are that the blood pressure was significantly decreased at 15days in AC-1 group. The cardiac hypertrophy was significantly decrease in AC-3 group. The activity of plasma ANP was increased in all groups without AC-1 group and the that of plasma Rein was decrease in AC-1, AC-2 groups than control group. Conclusions : These results suggest that acupuncture at SP3 HT7 and SP3 HT7 LR1 KI1 can be used as a therapy for controlling renal hypertension induced by 2K1C in the rats.

In the endemic area of bovine piroplasmosis in Chonbuk Province, total of 486 heads of Holstein cow selected from 14 farms randomly were examined the infection status of piroplasma and their blood values. The results obtained were summarized as follows: 1. The etiological agent was only Theileria sergenti and none of the Babesia sp. infection. 2. All of the 486 heads of examined cow were infected with Theileria sergenti (100%). 3. In the initial examination of 11 farms in early summer, the means of blood values were as follows; RBC:$526{\pm}84(10^4/mm^3$), Ht:$27.9{\pm}2.8%$, SP:$7.5{\pm}0.6g/dl$, WBC: $11586{\pm}354/mm^3$, and Fibrinogen: $578.5{\pm}164.1mg/dl$. 4. In the second examinations in slimmer season, the blood values of examined cows had little varieties. But in the winter season, cows housed in the barn, the blood values were greatly increased; RBC: $601{\pm}77(10^4/mm^3)$, (F-value: 37.186**), Ht: $30.5{\pm}1.3%$(F-value: 15.626**) Hb: $12.2{\pm}1.3g/dl$(F-value: 5.899**), SP: $7.4{\pm}0.6g/dl$(F-value: 5.05**). 5. To determine the piroplasma infection in the many herds of cow, the measurement of Ht, Hb, and SP values etc. were more effective and helpful to find the weak cow because the examined process are not only to be easily carry out many samples but also to be done very simple and rapidly. 6. The indications of therapeutic standard values were stablished as follows; the less than 20% in the Ht value, below the 10g/dl in the Hb value, and less than 6g/dl in SP value. When the one among the therapeutic standard values, Ht, Hb, and SP was below the therapeutic standard value, the cow was treated with nutriments. When more than two among them were below the therapeutic standard, the cow was treated with Berenil, at once. In this way, there was no one head which represented clinical signs of piroplasmosis among 486 heads of cow at 14 farms during the year of 1986. 7. In a Korean native cattle infected with Thieleria sergenti seriously, the recovery of blood values was very prolonged by the treatment of Berenil only. But by the transfusion of 300ml blood collected from normal cow, the blood values were recovered rapidly.

Bacterial diversity was determined by amplification and sequencing of 16S rDNA at Tancheon and Jungrang in Han river. Twenty-seven clones constructed were divided 7 groups using RFLP. Fifteen clones were classified 4 groups in Tancheon and the group (HT-1 clone) including many clones was affiliated a high similarity with Aerobacter cryaerophilus (the class Proteobacteria including members of the delta subdivisions). The other two groups (HT-6 and HT-9 clone) including several clones were classified with the class Cytophagales in Tancheon. Twelve clones were classified 3 groups in Jungrang and the group (HJ-1 clone) including many clones was affiliated a high similarity with Sphingomonas sp. (the class Proteobacteria including members of the alpha subdivisions). As a whole results, the class Proteobacteria (alpha, beta and delta subdivision), the order Cytophagales, and the order Actinomycetales were detected.

Objectives : This study was performed to investigate the effect of invasive laser acupuncture therapy with green light (LAT-G) at HT7(Sinmun), SP3(Taebaek) on the blood pressure in hypertensive rat induced by two kidney one clip. Methods : The experiments were performed on Sprague Dawley rats. 2K1C hypertension model was prepared by constricting the left renal artery with a sliver clip. Animals were divided into four groups, which were simple acupuncture treatment group with straight needle insertion on the square(AT-SS), acupuncture treatment group with reducing manipulation in the opposite channel direction(AT-RD), laser acupuncture treatment group with green light 532 nm, 10mW power in the opposite channel direction(LAT-G10) and laser acupuncture treatment group with green light 532 nm, 20mW power in the opposite channel direction(LAT-G20). The treatments were performed once per two days for 10 days. Results : Body weight was increased significantly in LAT-G20 group compared with AT-RD group. The blood pressure was significantly decreased in LAT-G20 and LAT-G10 groups compared with AT-SS group. Conclusions : These results suggest that green laser acupuncture therapy at SP3 ${\cdot}$ HT7 is more effective than straight needle insertion on the square for controlling hypertension. It is possible that invasive green laser acupuncture therapy (532 nm) can be used as a reducing method of the traditional acupuncture techniques.

Objective : The objective of this study was to research depression with acupuncture & moxibustion treatment. Methods : We searched Chinese Medical Literature(published from 1985~2002) related to depression and acupuncture. Results : 1) PC6(內關), HT7(神門), ST36(足三里), GV20(百會), LR3(太衝), SP6(三陰交) are much used for the treatment depression. 2. LR3(太衝), CV17(전중), GB34(陽陵泉), ST40(豊隆), PC6(內關) are much used for the excess type of depression and PC6(內關), SP6(三陰交), HT7(神門), BL15(心兪) are much used for deficiency type of depression. 3. ST36(足三里), SP6(三稜交), HT7(神門), PC6(內關), HT5(通里), KI1(通泉) are used for the treatment depression in electroacupuncture therapy. BL15(心兪), BL20(脾兪),ST36(足三里) are used for the treatment depression in acupoint injection therapy. 4. In dermal needle therapy, it is used to tap slightly until the skin becomes congested in the region of Bladder meridian and nape, back of Governor Vessel. 5. It seems that psychotherapy, music therapy and light therapy will be applied for the treatment of depression. Conclusion : We expect that acupuncture treatment of depression will be applied practically in clinical medicine due to further study on depression with acupuncture.

Objectives : The aim of this study is to review the acupoints used in cocaine studies and interpret the effectiveness in an aspect of meridian theory of Korean medicine. Methods : Authors searched 50 articles in PubMed, 16 in KISS, 9 in OASIS, 40 in NDSL, and 19 in DBPIA, with the keyword of 'cocaine' or 'acupuncture'. The articles written in English only were included. The articles related with cocaine(abuse, dependence, sensitization, intake, withdrawal sign, withdrawal syndrome, reinstatement, seeking) only were subjected. The articles which used manual- or electro-acupuncture were included, and auricular was excluded. Results : The most frequently used acupoint was HT7, while LI4, LU9, ST36, and SP6 were used once respectively. HT7 could be understood to be used from the meaning of the name as well as the theory that Heart Meridian is deeply related with the brain function. LU9 seems to be used to enhance the effect of HT7. LI4 is thought to control reverting yin that flows toward the top of head following the theory of Jang Bu Sang Tong. ST36 appears to be used because it could regulate stress reaction that reverting yin is associated with. SP6 seems to have effect on brain function due to its ability to control spiritual disorder. Conclusions : The acupoints used in the cocaine studies are thought to influence the brain function through diverse mechanism, and Jang Bu Sang Tong theory seems to be involved in the mechanism, at least in part.

Objective : The purpose of this study is to review the acupuncture therapy and moxibustion on itching Method : We searched and reviewed chinese journals of and books of the acupuncture therapy and moxibustion on itching. Results & Conclusions : 1. Dermatopathy of itching is described as eczema, neurotic-dermititis, itching in orient medical text. 2. According to text, itching causes were wind symptom produced by deficiency of blood, deficiency syndrom of the spleen, and damp-heat. 3. Frequently used acupoints were LI10(41 frequency), SP10(29), ST36(27), SP6(22), GB20(19), Asi point(18), BL(17), back Su acupoints(13), LI4(13), SP9(10), PC6(7), HT7(7). etc 4. The practice of acupuncture was used by body acupuncture, auriculo-theraphy, loss of bleeding with needle, blum-blosson needle, dermal needle, fire needle. etc. 5. Moxibustions are mild moxibustion, non-scar producing moxibustion, herb- moxibustion. etc.

Objectives : Saam acupuncture initiated by Saamdoin is traditional and originative method, which is characterized by applying the five phases theory and mother-child reinforcement-reduction principle to the selection of acupoints and needling manipulation. Our study was aimed to summarize and assess the use of acupoint SP3(Taebaek) in Saam acupuncture treatment and to further understand Saam acupuncture in an aspect of the combination of acupoints. Methods : We searched the data based on "(Do Hae Kyo Kam) Sa-Ahm's acupuncture method" for SP3 used and acupoint combination including SP3. We performed frequency analysis, network analysis, and cluster analysis for quantitative aspect. To understand clinical implication of SP3 with another acupoint, qualitative and descriptive methods were also carried out. Results and Conclusions : In our study, SP3 was frequently used for tonification of lung, spleen, heart, and kidney meridian and sedation of kidney, heart, and lung meridian. For this, many acupoints such as LU8, LU9, KI3, HT8, KI7, LU10 and LR1 were used with SP3. The combination of SP3 and other acupoints were used to treat stroke, common cold, and pain conditions including headache, low back pain, respiratory disease as well as gastroenteric troubles including stomachache, indigestion, vomiting, and constipation. To further understand Saam acupuncture, an understanding of the five transport points based on five elements characters, pathological changes (deficiency and excess) of viscera and bowels, and concept of source point should be preceded.
