  • By the present study on the geological structure of the area, it becomes clear that the formations known as the Jeongseon, Pyeongchang, and Yeongweol types of the Joseon System are no more than the structural repetitions of the Duwibong type of the System, and that the so far known thrust fault in the area is merely a overturned anticline associated with some displacement along the axial plane.

  • A model describing the reaction rate and catalyst deactivation in a simplified reaction system was developed to investigate the significance of catalyst pore structure in terms of porosities, porosity ratios, and size ratios of reactants to pores. The model showed that the unimodal catalyst could give a better performance than the bimodal in certain circumstances and the crossover found in the reactivity curves resulted from a trade-off between surface area and diffusivity. Under the assumption of uniform coke buildup, the bimodal catalyst appeared to provide better resistance to deactation than unimodal catalyst.

  • The binary classification, Yin & Yang, can be shown in our culture. Yin & Yang thinking reveals the Up/Down (Principal/Subordinate) relation in space, and Before/After relation in time, and it shows the sequence of Contrast${\to}$Reconciliation & Unification${\to}$Contrast. For example, a follower is Yin against King, while Yang as a father against his son in our trational cognitive structure. With Left/Right, Front/Rear, and Upper/Lower, In/Out division is a basic body-space term to grasp the space position. In the traditional Korean house, when we go out from the deepest 'In', Anbang to Daechung, we may call Anbang 'In' and Daechung 'Out'. When from Daechung to Anmadang reversely, we call Daechung 'In' and Anmadang 'Out'. Namely, Daechung is both 'In' and 'Out'. This is a fallacy logic in view of western basic conception. 'The In/Out Structure, system of a series of inner spaces, is defined as a transformation of cognitive structure of Yin & Yang thinking to the Korean architectural space. The space structure is one of the important deep structure in Korean society.' The concept of the space structure, apperred in east Asia, can make humane space, for it is not a physical 'type' of typepology but related to cognitive structure of human thinking, The structure is applicable to space design in modern society, for the cognitive structure exists in living culture by transformation.

  • In order to check the validation of LC simulation, 0.7 inch LCOS panel in full-HD resolution was fabricated and used for the electro-optical measurement. Compared the measured data with the calculated data, the averaged difference was 1.72% under 0 ~ +6 V bias on pixel electrode. To improve the optical characteristics of full-HD LCOS panel, the planar structure and trench structures (0.1 um, 0.2 um and 0.3 um-in-depth) between adjacent pixels were investigated with LC simulation. The planar structure showed the higher reflectance and faster reflectance-voltage response time than the trench structure. The optical fill factor and contrast ratio of planar structure were also higher than those of trench structures. As compared 1 um-in-depth trench structure resembled to the real structure with the planar structure, the optical fill factor was improved by 1.15% and the contrast ratio was improved by 5.26%. In order to minimize the loss of luminance and contrast ratio, the planar structure need to be applied between adjacent pixels.

  • Structural information has been a major concern for biological and pharmaceutical studies for its intimate relationship to the function of a protein. Three-dimensional representation of the positions of protein atoms is utilized among many structural information repositories that have been published. The reliability of the torsional system, which represents the native processes of structural change in the structural analysis, was partially proven with previous structural alignment studies. Here, a web server providing structural information and analysis based on the backbone torsional representation of a protein structure is newly introduced. The web server offers functions of secondary structure database search, secondary structure calculation, and pair-wise protein structure comparison, based on a backbone torsion angle representation system. Application of the implementation in pair-wise structural alignment showed highly accurate results. The information derived from this web server might be further utilized in the field of ab initio protein structure modeling or protein homology-related analyses.

  • In this paper, the image segmentation method based on the hierarchical pyramid image structure of reduced resolution versions of the image for solving the problems in the conventional methods is presented. This method is described the object detection and delineation by statistical approach. In the object detection method, IFSVR( Inverse-father-son variance ratio) method and FSVR(father-son variance ratio ) method are proposed for solving clustering validity problem occurred In the hierarchical pyramid image structure. An optimal object pixel Is detected at some level by this method. In the object delineation method, the iterative algorithm by top-down traversing method is proposed for moving the optimal object pixel to levels of higher resolution. Using the computer simulation, the results by the proposed statistical methods and object traversing method are investigated for the binary Image and the real image. At the results of computer simulation, the proposed methods of image segmentation based on the hierarchical pyramid Image structure seem to have useful properties and deserve consideration as a possible alternative to existing methods of image segmentation. The computation for the proposed method is required 0(log n) for n${\times}$n input image.
