  • At the package level, semiconductor reliability inspections involves mounting a semiconductor chip package on a test socket. The form of the test socket is basically determined by the form of the chip package. It also acts as a medium to connect with test equipment through mechanical contact of the leads and socket leads in the chip package, and it minimizes signal loss in a signal transmission process so that an inspection signal can be delivered well to the semiconductor. In this study, a technique was applied to examine the interdependence of adjacent electrical transfer routes and the structure of adjacent electrical transfer paths. The goal was to enable short-circuit testing of fewer than 100 silicon test sockets through a single interface for life tests and precision measurements. The test results of the developed device show a test precision of 99% or more and a simultaneous test speed characteristic of 0.66 sec or less.

  • Objectives: This study determined the effect of platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) on extraction socket bone regeneration and assessed the patterns and determinants of bone regeneration after the surgical extraction of impacted mandibular third molars. Materials and Methods: This prospective study randomly allocated 90 patients into two treatment groups: A PRF group (intervention group) and a non-PRF group (control group). After surgical extractions, the PRF group had PRF placed in the extraction socket and the socket was sutured, while the socket was only sutured in the non-PRF group. At postoperative weeks 1, 4, 8, and 12, periapical radiographs were obtained and HLImage software was used to determine the region of newly formed bone (RNFB) and the pattern of bone formation. The determinants of bone regeneration were assessed. Statistical significance was set at P<0.05. Results: The percentage RNFB (RNFB%) was not significantly higher in the PRF group when compared with the non-PRF group at postoperative weeks 1, 4, 8, and 12 (P=0.188, 0.155, 0.132, and 0.219, respectively). Within the non-PRF group, the middle third consistently exhibited the highest bone formation while the least amount of bone formation was consistently observed in the cervical third. In the PRF group, the middle third had the highest bone formation, while bone formation at the apical third was smaller compared to the cervical third at the 8th week with this difference widening at the 12th week. The sex of the patient, type of impaction, and duration of surgery was significantly associated with percentage bone formation (P=0.041, 0.043, and 0.018, respectively). Conclusion: Placement of PRF in extraction sockets increased socket bone regeneration. However, this finding was not statistically significant. The patient's sex, type of impaction, and duration of surgery significantly influenced the percentage of bone formation.

  • Recently a removable soil nail is demanded due to problems beyond of economical and engineering purpose. In this study removable soil nails are developed and field pull-out tests are carried out 16 times in order to analysis pull-out characteristics of the removable soil nail. For the spacing and the installed position of fixed socket, the length of the soil nail, and W/C ratio of cement grout in the removable soil nail, pull-out characteristics of pull-out tests are analyzed. From the pull-out characteristics of removable soil nails, it is found that the spacing of fixed socket and W/C ratio of cement grout are important design parameters.

  • In this paper, a example of a development of web-based remote monitoring and control system using Java technology on TCP/IP is proposed. We implemented Client/Server socket programs using Java Socket class, and applied those to a greenhouse made from LEGO blocks and made web-based greenhouse remote monitoring and control system. Implemented System transferred states of greenhouse to client programs, and control signals from client program were transferred to Server. Greenhouse model was controlled well by the system.

  • BGA test sockets failed earlier than the expected life-time due to abnormal signal delay, shown especially at the low temperature ($-50^{\circ}C$). Analysis of failed sockets was conducted by EDX, AES, and XRD. A SnO layer contaminated with C was found to form on the surface of socket pins. The formation of SnO layer was attributed to the repeated Sn transfer from BGA balls to pin surface and instant oxidation of fresh Sn. As a result, contact resistance increased, inducing signal delay. Abnormal signal delay at the low temperature was attributed to the increasing resistivity of Sn oxide with decreasing temperature, as manifested by the resistance measurement of $SnO_2$.

  • For the earlier diagnosis and treatment of delayed wound healing in extraction socket, we investigated the clinical, radiographic and histopathologic features of 106 patients with delayed wound healing diagnosed by biopsy. The patients were enrolled at the Department of Oral Pathology, Chosun University Dental Hospital. Among 106 delayed wound healing diagnosed by biopsy, cysts showed most significant 25 cases (23%), osteomyelitis showed 13 cases (12%), chronic maxillary sinusitis and squamous cell carcinoma showed 12 (11%) and 11 (10%) cases, respectively. We have analyzed these lesions through relevant literatures.

  • A three-dimensional finite element approach to process analysis and design for joining the socket with the ball by a kind of the rotary forging processes is presented in this paper. The rigid-plastic finite element method is employed and its results are used to reduce the number of process design tryouts. The approach is applied to developing a concave piston assembly for a high pressure hydraulic pump. Experiments show that the developed piston assembly satisfies the quality requirement on geometrical tolerance.

  • Die life is generally estimated taking failure life and wear amount into consideration. In this study, the forging die life was investigated considering both of these two factors. The fatigue life prediction for the die was performed using the stress-life method, i.e. Goodman's and Gerber's equations. The Archard's wear model was used in the wear life simulation. These die life prediction techniques were applied to the die used in the forging process of the socket ball joint of a transportation system. A rigid-plastic finite element analysis for the die forging process of the socket ball was carried out and also the elastic stress analysis for the die set was performed in order to get basic data for the die fatigue life prediction. The wear volume of the die was measured using a 3-dimensional measurement apparatus. The simulation results were relatively in good agreement with the experimental measurements.
