Purpose The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors affecting the users' stress and using reluctant intention to use social network service(SNS). This study especially focused on stress of SNSs' user. Because SNS has led to negative effects such as invasion of privacy, addiction and social overload recently. In addition, adverse effects of SNS had caused SNSs' user to feel stress and fatigue. Design/methodology/approach This study developed hypotheses to empirically examine the factors that affect SNS users' stress and using reluctant intention. In order to verify research hypotheses, this study collected data from 362 users who currently use the SNS in Korea. Further, we used the smartPLS analysis. Findings The results of this study are as follows; First, reputation perception, unwanted relation burden, privacy concern, information overload and interaction overload had a significant positive effect on SNS users' stress. But international influence had no significant positive effect on SNS users' stress. Second, SNS users' stress had a significant positive effect on using reluctant intention. The results of this study provides theoretical foundations on the research for dark side of SNS and implies that SNS providers are in need of exerting an effort to minimize the negative aspects.
Social networking services (SNSs) serve to strengthen people's social relationships by providing ways for people to utilize such relationships especially like workplace. With the development of the internet worldwide, the number of SNS users is rapidly growing and a wider range of service types have become available. In this study, we designed a research model with a focus on what makes people use SNSs at workplace and how it is associated with changes in relationship quality and their intention to continue using the services and analyzed data collected for the research model. Theoretically, intrinsic and extrinsic motivation was invoked and measured, in terms of hedonic and utilitarian values, and satisfaction and trust were adopted as variables of relationship quality. Data were collected from Facebook users using workplace, and a partial least squares (PLS) analysis was made on 188 data points. The analysis results showed that two forms of motivation-hedonic and utilitarian-are separated from each other in their influence and that utilitarian value is more important than hedonic value, especially when it comes to users' satisfaction. In addition, the analysis found a weak relationship between satisfaction and trust in SNS environments; this was a little different from the results of previous studies.
Purpose - This study investigated not only social network service (SNS) characteristics' effects on continuous use intention and reliability, but also the effects of continuous use intention and reliability on purchase intention. Research design, data, and methodology - The subjects comprised 274 SNS users in their twenties. The research was conducted over three weeks from October 16, 2013 to November 6, 2013, using questionnaires. A total of 267 copies were collected; 255 copies were used after excluding unsuitable copies. Results - Marketers who used SNSs should establish a bi-directional community and SNS page information exchange. SNS marketers should exchange useful information quickly through SNS pages, to differentiate themselves from competitors. Enterprises should use SNSs for marketing, considering not only continuous use intention but also reliability, to elevate product purchase intention. Conclusions - The study had limitations. Most subjects were students aged 24 to 28 years; the findings cannot be generalized. Second, personal computers (PCs) and smartphones had similar influence. Third, the preferences and/or characteristics of each SNS type were not reflected in marketing.
While there are lots of studies on examining the effects of social rapport in many research areas, however, there is a little work in examining the effect of the social rapport in social network service (SNS) contexts. Thus, this study attempts to examine the effect of social rapport in SNS settings. To address the research questions, this study has presented its hypotheses and conducted three experimental approaches by collecting 180 data from student subjects who have prior experiences on using SNSs to verify the hypotheses. This study has examined three experiments the effects of characteristics of Facebook(i.e. the number of mutual friends, the number of post likes, and the post personalities) on the social rapport and user responses. This study has conducted two-way ANOVA to verity its proposed research hypotheses. Based on three experiments, this study found that both the effects of the number of post likes and the number of post likes on the social rapport were not significant. Based upon empirical findings, this study has demonstrated how the effects of social rapports in SNSs were different from those of previous studies, and brought more attentions to the relevant literature.

Many empirical studies indicate that SNS use has increased substantially over the last few years. People use SNSs for social purposes, mostly related to the maintenance of existing offline contacts. Such usage may have led to compulsive use of SNSs resulting in addictive behavior. This paper aims to explore factors affecting SNS addiction. Specifically, the study examined the role of personality traits in the Facebook usage among college students. Compared to the rest of world, daily log on the site has grown very quickly in South Korea. And college students constitute a vast majority of Facebook users in South Korea. Results from a survey of 235 college students revealed that extraversion and neuroticism positively predicted Facebook usage. Students who were high in extraversion were more likely to update their profiles, share photo and images with others and give feedback on other's posts. Similarly, those who were high in neuroticism were more likely to share photo and images with others and update their profiles. These findings support previous research. Furthermore, in terms of the effect of personality on SNS addiction, this study found that consciousness was negatively associated with Facebook addiction, while extraversion and neuroticism were positively associated with Facebook addiction. Based on these findings implications and directions for futures studies are discussed.

The purpose of this study is to shed light on the driving motivations of contributing social word of mouth on social networking sites (sWOM) toward both tangible and intangible products. In order to develop a research model, this study adopts the motivation theory and TAM model. Data was collected from 904 members of the cosmetic and restaurant communities by using the snowball method. After assessing the validity of all constructs, the structural equation modeling (SEM) is used to test the proposed hypotheses. Results show that personal motivations (satisfaction, opinion leadership, self-enhancement, and economic incentives) and characteristics of sWOM (Perceived Usefulness and Ease of Use) have positive effect on exposure and engagement behaviors. Here are our specific findings, (1) customer satisfaction positively affects online interactions on SNSs such as Like or Sharing a content; (2) sWOM contribution behavior exists in two structures (Exposure and Engagement) and affects each other; (3) This study combines two groups of personal motivation and TAM to conceptualize a research model; and (4) The motivations of contributing sWOM between a specified service and product are rather similar. These findings help digital managers to understand consumers' behavioral contributions on SNSs and also provide interesting insights for marketers.

Customers who show high level of brand loyalty are one of the most important corporate assets. Accordingly, customers' brand loyalty has been addressed as a critical issue for the business success. In today's business environment where business channels to customers have expanded and diversified continuously, especially the use of social network services (SNSs) have drawn a lot of attention as an effective channel to promote customers' brand loyalty. This study, thus, analyzes the impact of the virtual brand community identity on customers' brand loyalty, focusing on the role of the sense of communities as mediators. The analysis was conducted by using the data collected from 239 users of Chinese virtual brand communities. The results show that both virtual brand community identity and the sense of communities significantly influence on customers' brand loyalty. Furthermore, the results reveal that both of the community belongingness and community trust composing the sense of community partially mediate virtual brand community and brand loyalty as hypothesized. Based on the results, the strategic implications are suggested and discussed, focusing on improving the customers' brand loyalty in the context of SNSs. Our findings and discussions can help companies develop their customer strategies for utilizing the virtual communities to strengthen customers' brand loyalty.
Purpose Although companies occupied the network market take the advantageous position first and can be successful in securing users over a certain size, it is important to satisfy the customers' demand and prevent the outflow of users toward a new alternative SNS. What is more, there are frequent changes in the flow of users toward new SNSs. Despite these dynamic market circumstances, there is a lack of research to explain the switching behaviors of SNS users. Design/methodology/approach The objective of this study is to explain and verify a specified migration theory(Push-Pull-Mooring model) focused on SNS fatigue in the psychological point of view, as well as reviewing previous studies on functional and technical characteristics of SNSs themselves. Moreover, this study tried to highlight factors affecting users actual SNS switch rather than their switching intention. Findings According to the statistical analysis, the most influenced pull factor to switch SNS was the alternative attractiveness. On the other hand, undesired relationship burden, service innovation and important mooring factors to prevent users' SNS switch. This study has a significant contribution to the theory, which analyzed users' actual SNS switch, and examined SNS users' psychological factors(SNS fatigue), reviewing the characteristics of existing services. To secure more users and to keep them, companies providing social network service need to develop differentiated strategies by analyzing psychological characteristics of various users.

We look at the rocket life stages of NaverZ's metaverse platform scaling and investigate the ignition and scale-up stage of its metaverse platform brand, Zepeto based on the Rocket Model (RM). The results are derived as follows: Firstly, NaverZ shows the event strategy by collaborating with K-pops, the piggybacking strategy by utilizing other SNSs, and the VIP strategy by investing in game and entertainment content genres in the 'attract' function. In the second 'match' function, based on the matching rule of Zepeto, the users can generate their own characters and "World" with Zepeto Studio. However, for strengthening the matching quality, NaverZ is investing in the artificial intelligence (AI) based companies consistently. In the 'connect' function, NaverZ's maximization of the positive interaction is possible by inducing feed activities in Zepeto & other SNSs and by uploading attractive content for viral effects in the ignition. For facilitating this, NaverZ expands the scale to other continents like Southeast Asia and Middle East with the localization strategy inclusive investment. Lastly, in the 'transact' function, based on three monetization experiments like Coin & ZEM, user generated content (UGC) fee, and advertising revenue in the ignition, NaverZ starts to invest in NFT platforms and abroad blockchain companies.
Purpose Social networking service (SNS) platforms employ distinct networking strategies to meet the varying needs of their users, resulting in divergent sets of technological functionalities offered by each platform. Consequently, unique features on various SNSs give rise to distinct social issues. Moreover, the available technical coping mechanisms for users vary significantly across platforms. Design/methodology/approach Therefore, this study analyzes the factors affecting technical coping intention based on technical functions of SNSs for users exposed to cybercrime, such as sexual harassment. We divide coping intention into active and passive coping intention. Furthermore, this research focuses on trust as an antecedent of coping intention and verifies how human and system-like trust affects two coping intentions in different directions. Findings Findings reveal that system-like trust significantly affects both active and passive coping intention as a belief in whether the technology will work properly. However, in the case of human-like trust, trust in the platform provider was found to negatively affect passive coping, which is considered unsocialized behavior on SNS platforms. Therefore, both human-like and system-like trust for the platform must be appropriately applied to cope with the problem while activating the platform.
