In this paper, we apply the 2-D Matrix Pencil Method(MPM) to the estimation of the direction of arrival(DOA) of multiple signals of interest(SOIs) in bistatic MIMO radar. The 2-D MPM shows remarkable performance under a low SNR environment and low computational complexity to estimate the DOA of multiple SOIs. Also, it is possible to estimate the direction of departure(DOD) which is an angle from transmitter to target. To verify the proposed algorithm, we applied the proposed algorithm to a uniformly spaced linear array(ULA) and compared the RMSE(Root Mean Square Error) of DOA and DOD under the various SNR with those of the 2-D Capon algorithm.

In this paper, we design the FPGA (Field-Programmable Gate Array) of the KOINONIA WPAN (Wireless Personal Area Network), and implement the SoC (System on Chip). We use the redundant bits to make a constant-amplitude in a modulator part. Additionally, the SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio) performance of the demodulator is improved by using the redundant bits in decoding steps. The four-million FPGA of the KOINONIA WPAN can be operated at 44MHz frequency. The PER (Packet Error Rate) of the designed FPGA with RF (Radio Frequency) module is below 1% at the -86dB MIPLS (Minimum Input Power Level Sensitivity), and the SNR is about 13dB. The SoC is implemented by using Hynix 0.25um CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) process. The size of the SoC is $6.52mm{\times}6.92mm$.

A new method for design of two-channel finite-impulse response(FIR) quadrature mirror-image filter(QMF) banks with low reconstruction delay using weighting function is proposed. The weighting function used in this paper is calculated from the previous updated filter coefficients vector which is adjusted from iteration to iteration in the design of QMF banks. In this paper, passband and stopband edge frequency are used in design of QMF banks with low delay characteristic in time domain instead of specific frequency interval where the artifacts occur in conventional design method. The investigation of specific frequency interval where artifacts occur can not be required by using passband and stopband edge frequency. Some comparisons of performance are made with other existing design method to demonstrate the proposed method for QMF bank design. and it was observed that the proposed method using the weighted function and passband and stopband edge frequency improves the peak reconstruction error by 0.001 [dB], the peak-to-peak passband ripple by 0.003[dB], SNR with a white noise by 7[dB] and SNR with a step input by 32[dB], but with a reduction of the computational efficiency because of updating the weighting function over the conventional method in Ref [11].

We present the Multi-band orthogonal frequency division multiplexing ultra-wideband (MB-OFDM UWB) technology for increasing the transmission reach of wireless speaker systems. The proposed scheme adopts the Reed-Solomon coding for preventing the random error perfectly and shows the SNR gain in low bit error rate (BER) especially. So, we can increase the maximum reach of MB-OFDM UWB technology since the receiver sensitivity is improved. The simulation environment includes most effects of realistic channel environments such as Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN), CM1 channel model, Sampling frequency offset (SFO), Carrier frequency offset (CFO) to improve the simulation accuracy. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme can give a maximum 2 dB SNR gain and increase the transmission reach up to 12.6m.

This paper proposes a multiple-relay-assisted single side band (SSB) space frequency block code (SFBC) single carrier (SC)-frequency division multiple access (FDMA) system and measures the performance of SSB SFBC SC-FDMA transmission system with the signal-to-noise power ratio SNR) between relays and a destination station. As we know, the performance of relay-assisted transmission systems can be easily improved by re-transmitting to the destination station after applying block code to the recovered transmitted signals of relays. In this paper, the performance improvement of the relay-assisted SSB SC-FDMA system can be obtained without any significant increase of system computational complexity by implementing block code with the complex conjugates symmetric characteristic of SSB system. The simulation result shows that the SNR performance of the proposed multiple-relay-assisted SSB SFBC SC-FDMA system is about 4 dB better than the performance of the single-relay-assisted SSB SC-FDMA system at the symbol error rate of 10-2.
This paper evaluates and compares the performance of the Deep Nerual Network (DNN)-based speech enhancement models according to various loss functions. We used a complex network that can consider the phase information of speech as a baseline model. As the loss function, we consider two types of basic loss functions; the Mean Squared Error (MSE) and the Scale-Invariant Source-to-Noise Ratio (SI-SNR), and two types of perceptual-based loss functions, including the Perceptual Metric for Speech Quality Evaluation (PMSQE) and the Log Mel Spectra (LMS). The performance comparison was performed through objective evaluation and listening tests with outputs obtained using various combinations of the loss functions. Test results show that when a perceptual-based loss function was combined with MSE or SI-SNR, the overall performance is improved, and the perceptual-based loss functions, even exhibiting lower objective scores showed better performance in the listening test.

Link Adaptation should select the best modulation and coding scheme (MCS) which gives the highest throughput as channel conditions vary. Several link adaptation algorithms for wireless local area network (WLAN) have been proposed but for the future WLAN systems such as 802.11n system, these algorithms do not guarantee the best performance. In this paper, we propose a new link adaptation algorithm in which an MCS level is chosen by the received SNR plus the offset value obtained from the transmission results. The performance of proposed algorithm is simulated by an IEEE 802.11n system. From the analysis, we conclude the proposed algorithm performs better than the well-known link adaptation algorithms such as auto rate fallback and general SNR-based techniques. Particularly, the proposed algorithm improves throughput when the packet error ratio (PER) is constrained for fast fading channels.

This paper presents an analysis of asynchronous multicarrier-code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) uplink systems over frequency-selective multipath fading channels when the frequency offsets (FOs) of all users are random variables and the frequency offset for the desired user is compensated. The effect of a residual frequency offset(RFO) on the average bit error rate (BER) is evaluated by the semi-analytical method, then the approximated BER performance is obtained as a closed-form expression. Moreover, the signal to noise ratio (SNR) loss caused by RFO is evaluated. Derived results show that the performance degradation due to RFO is negligible if the estimation error of RFO for the desired user is less than the normalized value of 0.1.

Sphere Decoding (SD) is a decoding technique able to achieve the Maximum Likelihood (ML) performance in fading environments; nevertheless, the main disadvantage of this technique is its high complexity, especially in poor channel conditions. In this paper, we present an adaptive hybrid algorithm which reduces the conventional Sphere Decoder's complexity and keeps the ML performance. The system called Adaptive OSIC-SD modifies its operation based on Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) information and achieves an optimal performance in terms of Bit Error Rate (BER) and complexity. Through simulations, we probe that the proposed system maintains almost the same bit error rate performance of the conventional SD, and exhibits a lower, quasi-constant complexity.
The initial radius of sphere decoder has great effect on the bit error rate performance and computational complexity. Until now, it has been determined either by considering the statistical property of channel or by using of MMSE solution. The initial radius obtained by using statistical property of channel includes the lattice point corresponding to the transmit signal vector with very high probability. The method using MMSE solution first calculates out the MMSE solution of the received signal, then maps the hard decision of this solution into the received signal space, and finally the distance between the mapped point and the received signal is selected as the initial radius of the sphere decoding. In this paper, we derive a simple equation for initial radius selection which uses statistical property of channel and compare it with the method using MMSE solution. To compare two methods we define new metric 'Tightness'. Through the simulation, we observe that in low and moderate SNR region, the method using MMSE solution provides more complexity reduction for decoding while in high SNR region, the method using channel statistics is better.
