Electrical Conductivity of S$m_2O_3-ZrO_2$ Systems (S$m_2O_3-ZrO_2$계의 전기전도성)

  • Electrical conductivities of $ZrO_2-Sm_2O_3$ systems containing 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 mol% of $ZrO_2$ have been measured as a function of temperature and of oxygen partial pressure at temperature from 500 to 1000${\circ}C$ and oxygen partial pressures from 1 ${\times}10^{-5}to 1{\times}10^{-1}$ atm. Plots of log conductivity vs. 1/T are found to be linear with an inflection point at around 650$^{\circ}C$ and the temperature dependence of conductivity shows two different defect structures. The conductivities are increased with increasing pressure, slowing a p-type character. The electrical conductivity dependences on $Po_2$ are found to be ${\sigma}{\propto}Po_2^{1/5.3}$ at 650∼1000$^{\circ}C$ and ${\sigma}{\propto}Po_2^{1/6}$ at 500∼650$^{\circ}C$, respectively, The defect structures are Oi" at 650-1000$^{\circ}C$ and $Vs_m$"' at 500-650$^{\circ}C$. The electron hole is main carrier type, however ionic contribution is found at low temperature portion. Ionic contributions increased with the increasing amount of $ZrO_2$ dopant. In 60mol% $ZrO_2-Sm_2O_3$ system, the conductivity is increased with decreasing oxygen pressure.

  • Total of 11 strains of Ldctobacillus isolated from lactobacillus-fermented milk and-beverage in March 1980 were examined for susceptibility to 8 drugs, and transferability and transfer frequency of R plasmids by conjugation. Of 11 isolates each 2 strains were classified as L. cellobiosus and L. helveticus, each 1 strain as L. plantarum, L. lactis, L. acidophilus, L. delbrueckii, L. casei subsp. casei, L. casei subsp, tolerans and L. salivarius subsp, salivarius by Bergey's manual. Resistance was the most active to na lidixic acid(NA), followed in decreasing order by chloramphenicol(CP), ampicillin(AP), kanamycin(KM) and streptomycin(SM). All of isolates were resistant to NA, each 10 strains to CP and AP, 7strains to KM and 6 strains to SM, indicating all of the isolates were resistant to two or more drugs in combination. No strain was resistant to erythromycin(EM), penicillin(PC) and tetracycline(TC). The most frequently encountered resistant patterns were CP NA AP SM KM, followed by CP NA AP KM, NA AP, CP NA, CP NA AP and CP NA AP SM in order. Transfer experiment of drug resistance showed that of 11 resistant strains, 9 strains transferred parts of their resistance to AP or AP CP or SM AP, indicating 9 strains carried R plasmids determining R(AP), R(AP CP) and R(SM AP). The conjugal frequency of R(AP) from Lactobacillus to E. coli ranged from 2.5{\times}10^{-1} to $5.6{\times}10^{-4}%$, that of R(CP) ranged from 5.0{\times}10^{-1} to 5.0{\times}10^{-3}% and that of R(SM) ranged from 6.0{\times}10^{-5} to 1.4{\times}10^{-5}%, at $37^{\circ}C$ for 18 hours of incubation.

Fabrication of Thick SmBCO/IBAD-MgO coated conductor (후막 SmBCO/IBAD-MgO 초전도 박막선재의 제조)

  • Coated conductor is required to have good critical current property for high efficiency of electric power applications. Until now, long coated conductor does not show high Jc over 3 MA/$cm^2$ in thick superconducting layer because of texture degradation by thick superconducting layer. In this study, in order to overcome this issue, thicker superconducting layer was deposited with optimized conditions to reduce the degradation of critical current density. SmBCO superconducting coated conductor was deposited with 1~3 um of thickness at $750\sim850^{\circ}C$ under 15~20 mTorr of oxygen partial pressure using batch type EDDC( evaporation using drum in dual chamber). The buffered substrate for superconducting layer deposition was used IBAD-MgO template with the architecture of $LaMnO_3/MgO/Y_2O_3/Al_2O_3$/Hastelloy. After fabrication of coated conductor, critical current was measured by 4-prove method under self-magnetic field and 77K. In addition, surface morphology and texture were analyzed by SEM and XRD, respectively. 3 um thick SmBCO coated conductor shows highest $I_C$ values of 638A/cm-w in 1 m long in the world.

Effects of Dry- and Wet-ageing on Flavor Compounds and Eating Quality of Low Fat Hanwoo Beef Muscles

  • The present study aimed at investigating the effects of dry- and wet-aging methods on flavor compounds and sensory properties of low fat Hanwoo beef muscles. All the beef samples were obtained from 2-grade carcasses of Hanwoo cows. The beef samples used in the dry- and wet-aging methods were prepared in the forms of quarter beef (bone-in) and cuts (boneless), respectively. The dry-aging was carried out at $2^{\circ}C-4^{\circ}C$ and humidity of 65%-85%, while the wet-aging was done at $1^{\circ}C$ for 0, 20, 40, and 60 d. At each aging time, three muscles: longissmus thoracis (LT), glutaeusmedus (GM) and semimembranosus (SM) were taken from the corresponding quarters and cuts, and used for the flavor compounds and sensory analyses. Results showed that both aging methods significantly increased the concentrations of flavor compounds and total amount of all classes of the flavor compounds as the aging time increased (p<0.05). In the dry-aging method, the GM and SM muscles presented significantly higher total amounts of pyrazines and sulfur-containing compounds compared to the LT muscle (p<0.05). Both the aging methods improved the eating quality attributes, indicating by increased scores of sensorial attributes with increased aging time for all the muscles studied (p<0.05). However, compared to the wet-aging, the dry-aging method resulted in significantly higher scores of tenderness and flavor for the GM and SM muscles after 40 to 60 d. Thus, postmortem aging, especially the dry-aging method could be used to improve eating quality attributes (tenderness and flavor) of low fat beef muscles such as GM and SM.

  • In this paper, the application of the explicit M.R.A.C. algorithms to the D.C. motor speed control using the microprocessor is studied. The adaptation algorithms are derived from the gradient method and the exponentially weighted least square [E.W.L.S.] method. In order to minimize the computational instability of the E.W.L.S. method, the adaptation algorithm of UDUt factorization method is developed, and because of the characteristics of the D.C. motor (dead-aone phenomenon) , the SM. gra-dient type algorithm is also improved from the gradient type algorithm. Computer simulations and experiments show that these algorithms adapt well to the rapid change of the reference input and the load.

Plastic Films affect the Storage Quality of Green Chili Pepper (포장용 필름에 따른 풋고추의 저장중 품질 변화)

  • To prolong the shelf life of green chili pepper, packaging films such as 30 $\mu\textrm{m}$ low density polyethylene(LDPE), 20 $\mu\textrm{m}$ perforated polyolefin (SM250), 30 $\mu\textrm{m}$ cast polypropylene (CPP) and 15 $\mu\textrm{m}$ polyolefin (MPD) were used. LDPE showed a suitable gas concentration which consisted of 3-5% O$_2$ and below 5% CO$_2$for keeping quality of green chili peppers after 10 days. Though weight loss was 9.3% for SM250 after 5 days, others showed below 2.0% weight loss after 40 days. Green chili peppers inside CPP package revealed a great decrease in ascorbic acid content after 30 days. SM250 showed a less total microbial count among packages, but there was no great differences among packages.

  • Functional properties of Cheonnyuncho fruit paste (CFP) were enhanced by fermentation, using Leuconostoc mesenteroides SM. The stability of CFP pigment was maintained and microorganisms in crude CFP were sterilized by heating at $80^{\circ}C$ for 30 min. The production of dextran in CFP was increased by increasing the fermentation time and sugar content, resulting in an increase of consistency. The CFP fermented with 20% sucrose contained 4.8% mucilage after fermentation for 2 days. In particular, the production of mucilage was greatly enhanced by fortification with 3% sodium citrate in CFP, resulting in mucilage production of 7%. In addition, the viscous modulus of fermented CFP showed a greater increase than that of the elastic modulus. Thus, it was concluded that CFP fermented by L. mesenteroides SM can be fortified with functional ingredients, such as mucilage and probiotics, with enhanced rheological properties. Therefore fermented CFP can be utilized as the functional ingredients for functional foods.

  • Modified-Shrink-Fit(MSF) method of compound cylinder is studied to increase elastic load carrying capacity (ELCC) of pressure vessel. The autofrettage and the shrink-fit processes are used to study the MSF process. Theoretical analyses based on the Tresca yield criterion, Hencky's total strain theory and elastic linearly strain-hardening material are carried out to derive closed form solutions. Experimental results are compared with theoretical results with various diameter ratios between outer (SM45C) and inner (SM20C) bloc cylinder. For various diameter ratios, increments of ELCC have errors in strains vs. internal loading pressures between experimental and theoretical results. But experimental results show good agreements with theoretical results in reyield pressurizing state. The increments of ELCC of compound cylinder manufactured by the MSF process is proved by measuring the residual stresses.

  • In Turning It is good selection of cutting condition and cutting tools that influence upon the accuracy of dimension manufacturing efficiency and extension of tool life. Among them especially the identification of cutting force due to the change of cutting conditions which exerts a great influence on the turning is very important. In this study the cutting resistance due to the change of cutting conditions was caculated by using the energy method and good agreement in shown between theoritical and experimental results which were tested for the cutting resistance at the cemented carbide cutting tools with workpieces of SM20C and SM 45C.

  • Direct preparative method of 2,6-diformyl-p-cresol and 2-hydroxy-3-hydroxy-5-methylbenzaldehyde from 2,6-bis(hydroxymethyl)-4-methylphenol using activated $Mn(IV)O_2$ was described. Hexadentate compartmental Iigands, $H_4L[A]\;and\; H_4L[B]$ were prepared by condensation reactions of 2-hydroxy-3-hydroxy methyl-5-methylbenzaldehyde with ethylenediamine and 1,3-diaminopropane respectively. By the reaction of macrocycle($H_4[20]DOTA$) with Ln(III) nitrate {Ln(III)=Pr, Sm, Cd, Dy }, discrete mononuclear Ln(III) complexes of the type $[Ln(H_2[20]DOTA)(ClO_4)(H_2O)]\;{\cdot}\;3H_2O$ were synthesized in the solid state. $[Ln([20]DOTA)(NO_3)(H_2O)](NO_3)_2\;{\cdot}\;xH_2O$ was placed in methanol for 2 days, and $[Ln([20]DOTA)(NO_3)(CH_3OH)]^{2+}$ was formed. The equilibrium constants(K) for the substitution of coordinated $CH_3OH$ in the Ln-[20]DOTA complexes by various auxiliary ligand, $L_a$(=salicylic acid, p-chlorobenzoic acid, benzoic acid, acetic acid, 4-bromophenol) were determined spectroscopically at 25$^{\circ}C$ and 0.1M $NaClO_4$. The K values calculated were in the order of salicylic acid > p-chlorobenzoic acid > benzoic acid > acetic acid > 4-bromophenol, while pKa of auxiliary ligands was in the opposite trend.
