  • In this paper, we present the result of preliminary design of tracking mount for ARGO-M which is a movable satellite laser ranging (SLR) system developed by Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI). The tracking mount consists of a couple of core parts such as driving motors, encoders and bearings, and the requirements of each parts are determined on the basis of the technical consideration. 2D and 3D models for tracking mount were preliminarily designed using the selected core parts. In order to evaluate the validity of the preliminarily design, the simulator to test the elevation axis was designed and manufactured. The test to check the tracking performance and system accuracy of the simulator was performed, and it was confirmed that the preliminary design meets the operating specifications. Additionally, it was found that the repetitive errors and hysteresis errors need to be improved by the additional control algorithm.

  • In this study, the operations concept of STSAT-2 which will be launched by KSLV-1, the first Korean Space Launch Vehicle, from Naro is explained. The major tasks of STSAT-2 is acquiring Lyman-alpha images of Sun by LIST(Lyman-alpha Imaging Solar Telescope) payload and the exact position of the satellite by calculating distance between STSAT-2 and SLR ground stations using SLR(Satellite Laser Ranging) payload. Also spacecraft technology verification is performed.

  • This study compared the effects of Intermittent traction therapy alone(Group1=Control group) and Intermittent traction therapy plus Auriculotherapy (Group2=Experimental group) to 20 Sciatica patients. Subjects were assigned to two groups with each 10. The two groups received Intermittent traction therapy (Hold:25, Rest:15) for 15 minute and experimental group did received auricular stimulation. Auricular acupuncture points(max=17, min=13) were stimulated with low frequency, high intensity Electro-Acupunture stimulator for 20 seconds per a each point. Treatment and measurements(SLR and VAS) was administered to each patient during the two weeks of 10 times therapy. The results were significant differences between the two groups. Experimental group produced significantly greater pain relief, and significant improvement of limited SLR.

  • New protein secretion system was developed using Type III Secretion System of Salmonella. N-terminal region of SlrP and SptP effector proteins were fused with TliA and EstA-P lipases by overlapping PCR. Lipase activity of Salmonella with SptP-TliA fusion system increased by 2.6 fold compare with wild type Salmonella strain. This result showed that lipase secretion via the T3SS would be a useful protein secretion machinery.

  • To compare the treatment effects of back exercise on functional status, spinal mobility, SLR, pain severity, and treatment results satisfaction, and to determine whether spinal exercises during the low back pain reduces recurrent episodes of back pain. 1. Flexion and extension exercise groups did not differ in any outcome over 4weeks. After 1week, both exercise groups had reduced disability score, a higher proportion returning to work, and fewer subjects with a positive SLR compared with the control group. 2. There was no difference among groups regarding recurrence of low back pain after 6~12 months. 3. There was no difference for any outcomes between the flexion or extension groups. However, either exercise was slightly more effective than no exercise when patients with low back pain were treated.
