정량적 식스 시그마 프로젝트 관리를 위한 프레임워크와 도구 (Framework and Tool for Quantitative Six Sigma Project Management)

  • 식스 시그마는 80년대 중반에 처음 등장한 이래 각종 제조업, 금융이나 공공기관 같은 서비스업 등의 다양한 산업 분야에서 활용되어 오면서 무수한 성공사례를 롱해 그 능력과 가치를 입증해 온 품질 혁신 활동이다. 최근에는 소프트웨어 개발 및 품질 보증에서도 식스 시그마를 활용하기 위한 연구가 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 그러나 식스 시그마의 활발한 도입 및 활용에도 불구하고 식스 시그마 프로젝트의 수행을 지원하는 소프트웨어 도구는 많지 않다. 이러한 이유로 정량적인 식스 시그마 프로젝트 관리에 대한 필요성이 제기되게 되었고, 식스 시그마 프로젝트의 전체 프로세스에 걸친 통합적인 식스 시그마 프로젝트에 대한 측정 및 분석, 측정 및 분석결과에 대한 저장 및 리포팅 기능을 지원하는 프레임워크나 도구가 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 기능들을 지원하는 정량적인 식스 시그마 프로젝트 관리 프레임워크를 제안하고, 이 프레임워크에 기반하여 개발이 진행 중인 식스 시그마 프로젝트 지원도구에 대해 소개한다. 이를 통해 식스 시그마 프로젝트를 수행하는 조직이나 사용자는 정량적인 프레임워크와 도구의 사용에 바탕을 둔 식스 시그마 프로젝트의 관리를 통해 식스 시그마 프로젝트의 정량화, 체계화, 통합화라는 이득을 얻을 수 있을 것이다.

  • There is no doubt Six Sigma is an excellent concept to improve quality of product or service. However, limitations to Six Sigma's implementation process have been discovered that are related to Six Sigma's foundation in statistical methods. The limitations of Six Sigma are overcome by the advantages of a strategic CoP (Community of Practice). Therefore, this research tries to build a strategic CoP for implementing Six Sigma. The method for building a strategic CoP is suggested, and then a case study of a real company is presented.

  • Many companies desperately effort to find out more effective management method to survive in keen competition. Jack welch of past GE's CEO had said that an excellent result of today's GE management is thanks to Six sigma work. Many korean companies are introduced Six sigma method in their management since late 1993. Six sigma uses a set of strategies, statistics and methods to improve the processes we use to do everything from designing to manufacturing a product from marketing products and services to providing business information to our internal and external customers. The purpose of this study is to overcome these problems and to help make an important decision in establishing introduction strategy by abstracting the reasons and success factors and result indices which are important sources for introducing Six sigma management.

6 시그마의 적용에 대한 연구 (An Application Study of Six Sigma in Clinical Chemistry)

  • The primary goal of six sigma is to improve patient satisfaction, and thereby profitability, by reducing and eliminating defects. Defects may be related to any aspect of customer satisfaction: high product quality, schedule adherence, cost minimization, process capability indices, defects per unit, and yield. Many six sigma metrics can be mathematically related to the others. Literally, six means six standard deviations from the mean or median value. As applied to quality metrics, the term indicates that failures are at least six standard deviations from the mean or norm. This would mean about 3.4 failures per million opportunities for failure. The objective of six sigma quality is to reduce process output variation so that on a long term basis, which is the customer's aggregate experience with our process over time, this will result in no more than 3.4 defect Parts Per Million(PPM) opportunities (or 3.4 Defects Per Million Opportunities. For a process with only one specification limit (upper or lower), this results in six process standard deviations between the mean of the process and the customer's specification limit (hence, 6 Sigma). The results of applicative six sigma experiment studied on 18 items TP, ALB, T.B, ALP, AST, ALT, CL, CK, LD, K, Na, CRE, BUN, T.C, GLU, AML, CA tests in clinical chemistry were follows. Assessment of process performance fits within six sigma tolerance limits were TP, ALB, T.B, ALP, AST, ALT, CL, CK, LD, K, Na, CRE, BUN, T.C, GLU, AML, CA with 72.2%, items that fit within five sigma limits were total bilirubin, chloride and sodium were 3 sigma. We were sure that the goal of six sigma would reduce test variation in the process.

  • Six Sigma has been disseminated into a variety of areas. It is believed that a stepwise understanding of Six Sigma's DMAIC is required for successes of unit projects. Meanwhile, infra-structure factors, such as leadership, organization, personnel management, educational system, etc., are also important to safely implant the Six Sigma into the whole enterprise and to thoroughly create the culture of innovation and enterprise. Careful analysis of those elements makes it possible to draw common connection between Project Management and the Six Sigma. This study drives the success elements for the successful adoption of the Six Sigma in the Korea Western Power Co., Ltd., of which management was evaluated as one of the tops based on the results of 2007 Management Innovation Assessment and arranges the similarity of like this factor and Enterprise Project Management. The results of this study are expected to provide a useful guideline for the adoption of the Six Sigma in whole company level.

건설업체의 6시그마 적용 성과 분석에 관한 사Bll 연구 -S 건설업체를 중심으로- (A Case Study on the Performance Analysis for Applying 6 sigma to a Construction Company)

  • 본 연구는 6시그마 경영기법의 건설업에 대한 적용 성과를 분석하고자 수행하였다. 이를 위하여 S 건설업체의 조직 및 인력별 6시그마 적용 프로젝트의 품질비용을 분석하고, S 건설업체의 임직원들을 대상으로 6시그마 경영에 대한 설문조사를 실시하였다. 위와 같은 목적과 방법에 따라 진행된 본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. : 1) S 건설업체의 6시그마 경영기법의 도입은 03년과 04년에 걸쳐 258건의 프로젝트를 수행하면서 품질비용 절감효과를 발생시켰다. 또한, S 건설업체는 6시그마 적용 전 시그마 수준이 업무 분야별 평균 2.8이었으나, 적용 후 평균 3.6으로 향상되었다. 특히, 공사 관리 분야는 적용 전 1.3시그마에서 적용 후 2.6시그마로 매우 높은 향상율을 보였다. 2) 6시그마 경영활동에 대한 업무수행 기대성과에 관한 분석결과 대다수의 직원들은 6시그마 경영이 비용절감 효과가 있으며, 품질향상에 도움이 되는 것으로 인식하고 있었다. 그러나 현 시점은 S 건설업체에 있어 6시그마 경영기법의 도입 초기단계이므로 업무처리의 효율성에는 큰 효과를 보이지 않는 것으로 조사되었다.

  • In this research, first, the effect of Six Sigma activities and business performance will be checked based on case studies involving companies adopting Six Sigma and, secondly, the Six Sigma training effectiveness, Customer Satisfaction and Financial Performance, etc, will be evaluated to find out how related to Six Sigma Implementation. Finally, Six Sigma's Implementation Categories will be analyzed. The method used in this research was to select the research model and research hypothesis based on theoretical studies and the interesting aspects of the recent Six Sigma, along with case studies and research based on actual proof. Case studies and research based on actual proof showed that among 11 companies analyzed, a total of 11 companies obtained good results, and KIs were found to be factors of their success.

  • In the last ten years, manufacturing companies like GE, IBM, Motorola and service companies like GE Capital and CITIBANK have realized that Six Sigma has standed for quality reform movemant. Six Sigma management which makes the critic effects on the quality management have enlarged and applied office indirect work process and service department as well beyond question manufacturing process. Then Can Six Sigma application methodology from manufacturing industry be applied to service industry without transformation? Can Six Sigma be applied on improvement of Information system quality which is the critic key figure of current successful companies? These questions would be resolved by conducting researches about application and evaluation of Six Sigma on manufacturing industry and service industry. 식스 시그마 도입기간이 기업의 재무적 성과에 미치는 영향 연구: 평활 스플라인 함수를 이용하여 (The Study on Relation between Six Sigma Implemented Period and Financial Performance: Using Smoothing Spline Function)

  • Purpose: In this paper, we investigate whether the endeavors for Six Sigma quality management by a firm have positive effects on its financial performance and the length of Six Sigma implemented period affects its financial status. We find a relationship between Six Sigma implemented period and several financial performance index using a smoothing spline function. Methods: A smoothing spline function is used in order to analyze the relationship between efforts for quality management and financial performance. Specifically, the return on assets, return on equity, sales cost and business fee are investigated as dependent variables and the efforts for quality management as independent variable. Results: As a result of the analysis, the indication is that companies that put effects into the Six Sigma quality management have a positive result in its financial status. In detail, the efforts for Six Sigma quality management have positive effects on total asset turnover ratio and Six Sigma implemented period on net income to net sales ratio. Additionally, companies with longer (shorter) period of Six Sigma program have more (less) improvement in its financial status. Conclusion: It can be concluded that the company's efforts for quality management positively influence financial performance.

  • The methodology of six sigma originated at Motorola in the early 1980s is now days proved to be an effective way in improving the quality. Many companies are paying their attentions to 6 sigma quality technique, proved to be successful by many examples of advanced firms. However most companies where Six sigma is implemented confront many difficulties in service industry. In paper we research successful Six Sigma in the service industry.
