  • This paper presents a manufacture of the multiple subjects biotelemetry system using custom CMOS IC fabricated $1.5{\mu}m$ n-well process technology. The implantable circuits of the system except sensor interface circuits including FM transmitter are fabricated on a single chip with the sire of $4{\times}4mm^{2}$. It is possible to assemble the implantable system in a hybrid package as small as $3{\times}3{\times}2.5cm$ by using this chip, It's main function is to enable continuous measurement simultaneously up to 7-channel physiological signals from the selected one among 8 subjects. Another features of this system are to enable continuous measurement of physiological signals, and to accomplish ON/OFF switching of an implanted battery by subject selection signal with command signal from the external circuit. If this system is coupled with another appropriate sensors in medical field, various physiological parameters such as pressure, pH and temperature are to be measured effectively in the near future.

  • Erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR) measurements were performed in a total of 191 blood samples from patients below a hematocrit of 35% by both the Test-1(SIRE Analytical Systems, Udine, Italy) and the Westergren method, endorsed as the reference method for ESR by the International Council for Standardization in Hematology(ICSH). The corrected Westergren ESR values were also obtained applying the formula of Fabry (corrected ESR = ESR measured x 15/55-Hct). Linear regression analysis showed a close correlation (r=0.85) between the two methods both before and after ESR correction in total samples. There was no significant correlation difference between two methods in both two groups with hemoglobin $${\geq_-}9g/dl$$ and <9g/dl before and after ESR correction (r=0.873, r=0.827 respectively before correction and r=0.867, r=0.830 respectively after correction). Also, for two groups with hematocrit $${\geq_-}24%$$ and <24%, no significant difference was observed (r=0.859, r=0.792 respectively before correction and r=0.782, r=0.842 respectively after correction). However, for samples with <60mm of Westergren ESR before correction, a better correlation coefficient was obtained than samples with $${\geq_-}60mm$$(r=0.701, r=0.541 respectively). In corrected Westergren ESR, also samples that were obtained with <40mm showed better correlation than samples with $${\geq_-}40mm$$ (r=0.690, r=0.347 respectively). In conclusion, we found a good correlation between Test-1 and Westergren measurements in patients with anemia but an expert group discussion is required to solve discrepancy between two methods in blood samples with very high ESR.

  • DHP mining association rules algorithm maintains previously independent direct hash table to reduce the sire of hash tree containing the frequency number of each candidate large itemset. It performs pruning by using the direct hash table when the hash tree is constructed. The mort large the size of direct hash table increases, the higher the effort of pruning becomes. Especially, the effect of pruning in phase 2 which generate 2-large itemsets is so high that it dominates the overall performance of DHP algorithm. So, following the speedy trends of producing VLM(Very Large Memory) systems, extreme increment of direct hash table size is being tried and one of those trials is perfect hash table in phase 2. In case of using perfect hash table in phase 2, we found that some rearrangement of DHP algorithm got about 20% performance improvement compared to simply |H$_2$| reconfigured DHP algorithm. In this paper, we examine the feasibility of perfect hash table in phase 2 and propose PHP algorithm, a rearranged DHP algorithm, which uses the characteristics of perfect hash table sufficiently, then make an analysis on the results in experimental environment.

  • Traditional works on indexing have been suggested for low dimensional data under dynamic environments. But recent database applications require efficient processing of huge sire of high dimensional data under static environments. Thus many indexing strategies suggested especially in partitioning ones do not adapt to these new environments. In our study, we point out these facts and propose a new partitioning strategy, which complies with new applications' requirements and is derived from analysis. As a preliminary step to propose our method, we apply a packing technique on the one hand and exploit observations on the Minkowski-sum cost model on the other, under uniform data distribution. Observations predict that unbalanced partitioning strategy may be more query-efficient than balanced partitioning strategy for high dimensional data. Thus we propose our method, called CSP (Cyclic Spliced Partitioning method). Analysis on this method explicitly suggests metrics on how to partition high dimensional data. By the cost model, simulations, and experiments, we show excellent performance of our method over balanced strategy. By experimental studies on other indices and packing methods, we also show the superiority of our method.

  • In the video with a various environment, background modeling is important for extraction and recognition the moving object. For this object recognition, many methods of the background modeling are proposed in a process of preprocess. Among these there is a Kumar method which represents the Queue-based background modeling. Because this has a fixed period of updating examination of the frame, there is a limit for various system. This paper use a background modeling based on the queue. We propose the method that major parameters are decided as adaptive by background model. They are the queue size of the sliding window, the sire of grouping by the brightness of the visual and the period of updating examination of the frame. In order to determine the factors, in every process, RCO (Ratio of Correct Object), REO (Ratio of Error Object) and UR (Update Ratio) are considered to be the standard of evaluation. The proposed method can improve the existing techniques of the background modeling which is unfit for the real-time processing and recognize the object more efficient.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of sire and shape of retention element on the bond strength of indirect composite resin and metal. Material and method: The metal disk specimens, each 6mm in diameter, were cast from CrCo alloy. They were divided into 8 groups by applied retention element. retention bead group $B2\;({\phi}\;0.2mm),\;B4\;({\phi}\;0.4mm),\;B6\;({\phi}\;0.6mm),\;B8\;({\phi}\;0.8mm)$, retention crystal group C2 (0.2mm), C5 (0.5mm), C8 (0.8mm) and sandblasting group SB ($110{\mu}m\;Al_2O_3$ blasting) as control. Eighty-eight metal specimens were veneered with $TESCERA^{(R)}$ Indirect resin system. One specimen of each group was sectioned and the resin-metal bonding pattern at the interface was observed under measuring microscope. Other specimens were then tested for tensile bond strength on an Instron universal testing machine at a crosshead speed of 2mm/min. Results: 1. Compared to sandblasting, beads or crystals increased the resin-metal bond strength (P<.05). 2. 0.2mm retention crystals were most effective in improving the resin-metal bond strength (P>.05). 3. 0.2mm beads showed the highest bond strength among retention bead groups, but there was no statistically significant difference (P>.05). 4. Retention crystals tend to be higher in bond strength than retention beads due to wider surface area. 5. The larger retention element, the larger the undercut for the mechanical retention, but the gap at resin-metal interface was also increased. Conclusion: Within the limitations of this study, 0.2mm retention crystals were most effective in improving the resin-metal bond strength.

  • In this paper, we further generalize the work of Lin and Abel to the case of the first and the second order derivatives of energy release rates for two-dimensional, multiply cracked systems. The direct integral expressions are presented for the energy release rates and their first and second order derivatives. The salient feature of this numerical method is that the energy release rates and their first and second order derivatives can be computed in a single analysis. It is demonstrated through a set of examples that the proposed method gives expectedly decreasing, but acceptably accurate results for the energy release rates and their first and second order derivatives. The computed errors were approximately 0.5% for the energy release rates, $3\sim5%$ for their first order derivatives and $10\sim20%$ for their second order derivatives for the mesh densities used in the examples. Potential applications of the present method include a universal size effect model and a probabilistic fracture analysis of cracked structures.

  • This experiment was conducted to find out the minimum size of pores through that Zeolite particles moved vertically out with percolated solution in the sand column and to estimate whether they were lost through the pores in the field sandy soil. The results were as follows. 1. The amount of Zeolite loss through sand columns was increased in the order of the columns filled with $2{\sim}1>1{\sim}0.5>0.5>0.25mm$ sand particles. 2. The Zeolite particles lost through columns filled with $1{\sim}0.5$ and $0.5{\sim}0.25mm$ sand were clay fraction. 3. The pore sire that clay fraction of Zeolite mineral could migrate through was determined to be above $150{\mu}m$ and Jangchon subsoil was presumed to have possibility of Zeolite loss in consideration of its pore size distribution. 4. The suitable particle size of Zeolite for application in sandy soil was presumed to be above $2{\mu}m$.

  • Polypropylene(PP)/polyurethane(PU) blends with reactive compatibilizers were prepared by the compositional quenching process. Maleic anhydride grafted PP(MPP) and hydroxyethyl maleimide grafted PP(HPP) were introduced as reactive compatibilizers. The formation of HPP and the reactions of compatibilizers with the PU components were confirmed by FT-IR spectroscopy. The morphology, tensile properties, thermal stability, and surface property were studied. The blends prepared by the compositional quenching showed better dispersed domain morphology than the melt blends. The PU domain size became more uniform and reduced in size with increasing the amount of compatibilizers. The blends with HPP showed sightly smaller domain sire than the blends with MPP. The blends with compatibilizers all showed improved tensile properties, surface property. and thermal stability due to the interfacial adhesion effect. The blends with MPP showed higher surface energy than the blends with HPP, but the latter showed better thermal stability compared to the former.

  • A New concept for the LNG-FPSO ship, with moonpool and bilge step in bottom, is proposed. This concept is investigated with regard to motion reduction and sloshing phenomena of the cargo and operation tanks. The principal dimensions of the ship are $L\timesb B\times D\times t(design)=270.0\times51.0\times32.32\times13.7(m)$, with a total cargo capacity of 161KT; a 98% loading condition is considered for this study. The moonpools and rectangular step at the bilge have been designed for the purpose of decreasing the motion within the tank. For the motion analysis, linearized three-dimensional diffraction theory, with the simplified boundary condition was used. The six-degree of freedom coupled motion responses were calculated for the LNG-FPSO ship. Viscous effects on the roll motion responses of a vessel were taken into account in this calculation program, using an empirical formula suggested by Himeno(1981). The case study for the moonpool size has been conducted using theoretical estimation and the experimental method. For the optimization of the moonpool size and effect of the bilge step, 9 cases of its size, both with and without bilge step, were involved in the study. no motion responses, especially roll motion, for the designed LNG-FPSO ships are much lower than those of other drill ships and shuttle tankers. The limit criterions are satisfied. To check the cargo tank and operation tank sizes, we performed a sloshing analysis in the irregular waves which focuses on the pressure distribution on the tank wall and the time history of pressure and free surface for No.2 and 5 tanks of LNG-FPSO with chamfers. Finally, optimum tank sire was estimated.
