  • This paper is concerned with the modeling and identification of sequencing batch reactor (SBR) via genetic algorithm based polynomial neural network (GA-based PNN). The model describes a biological SBR used in the wastewater treatment process fur nitrogen removal. A conventional polynomial neural network (PNN) is applied to construct a predictive model of SBR process fur nitrogen removal before. But the performances of PNN depend strongly on the number of input variables available to the model, the number of input variables and type (order) of the polynomials to each node. They must be fixed by the designer in advance before the architecture is constructed. So the trial and error method must go with heavy computation burden and low efficiency. To alleviate these problems, we propose GA-based PNN. The order of the polynomial, the number of input variables, and the optimum input variables are encoded as a chromosome and fitness of each chromosome is computed. Simulation results have shown that the complex SBR process can be modeled reasonably well by the present scheme with a much simpler structure compared with the conventional PNN model.

스테레오 비전 방식을 이용한 자율 이동로봇의 격자지도 작성 (Building of Occupancy Grid Map of an Autonomous Mobile Robot Based on Stereo Vision)

  • This paper presents the way of building an occupancy grid map which a mobile robot needs to autonomously navigate in the unknown environment. A disparity map resulting from stereo matching can be converted into the 2D distance information. If the stereo matching has some errors, however, the subsequent map becomes unreliable. In this paper, a new morphological filter is proposed to reject 'spikes' of the disparity map due to stereo mismatch by considering the fact that these spikes occur locally. The new method has advantages that it is simpler and more easily realized than existing similar algorithms. Several occupancy grid maps based on stereo vision using the proposed algorithm have been built and compared with the actual distance information to verify the validity of the proposed method.

  • In this study an the development of the heat flux sensor with thermocouple, the heat-treated adhesive type film nickel gauge(Ni-Gauge) for measuring temperature was used. and this Ni-Gauge is not only comparable for platinum gauge(Pt-Gauge) in linearity, but also economically cheap. And from this viewpoint. numerical analysis is essential to investigate charateristics of sensor, since this analysis is capable of simulating precise boudary condition and practical conditions and so on. By the way. there are many types of heat flux sensor. of which adhesive type flux sensor is common, in the study this type of heat flux sensor was chogen. and analysis of the sensor is considered as a kind of open cavity figure. performed by SIMPLER algorithm. As a result. through temperature distributial of the sensor by numerical analysis in steady and unsteady state, the dracteristics of the acdhesive type heat flux sensor(lst heat flux sensor) acooodinge to heat flux, that is, outvoltage, sensitivity. and responsibilty could be evaluated. in addition, time of improved heat flux sensor(2nd heat flux sensor) could be predicted fran the reflectian of proper operating temperature(l50 $^{\circ}C$)of theNi-Gauge.

  • Many researchers have been considering genetic algorithms to system optimization problems. Especially, real-coded genetic algorithms are very effective techniques because they are simpler in coding procedures than binary-coded genetic algorithms and can reduce extra works that increase the length of chromosome for wide search space. Thus, this paper presents a fuzzy system design technique to improve the performance of the fuzzy system. The proposed system consists of two procedures. The primary tuning procedure coarsely tunes fuzzy sets of the system using the k-means clustering algorithm of which the structure is very simple, and then the secondary tuning procedure finely tunes the fuzzy sets using enhanced real-coded genetic algorithms based on the primary procedure. In addition, this paper constructs multiple fuzzy systems using a data preprocessing procedure which is contrived for reflecting various characteristics of nonlinear data. Finally, the proposed fuzzy system is applied to the field of time series prediction and the effectiveness of the proposed techniques are verified by simulations of typical time series examples.

  • Initiation of crack and its growth simulation requires accurate model of traction - separation law. Accurate modeling of traction-separation law remains always a great challenge. Atomistic simulations based prediction has great potential in arriving at accurate traction-separation law. The present paper is aimed at establishing a method to address the above problem. A method for traction-separation law prediction via utilizing atomistic simulations data has been proposed. In this direction, firstly, a simpler approach of common neighbor analysis (CNA) for the prediction of crack growth has been proposed and results have been compared with previously used approach of threshold potential energy. Next, a scheme for prediction of crack speed has been demonstrated based on the stable crack growth criteria. Also, an algorithm has been proposed that utilizes a variable relaxation time period for the computation of crack growth, accurate stress behavior, and traction-separation atomistic law. An understanding has been established for the generation of smoother traction-separation law (including the effect of free surface) from a huge amount of raw atomistic data. A new curve fit has also been proposed for predicting traction-separation data generated from the molecular dynamics simulations. The proposed traction-separation law has also been compared with the polynomial and exponential model used earlier for the prediction of traction-separation law for the bulk materials.

  • Epileptic Seizure is a popular brain disease in the world. It affects the nervous system and the activities of brain function that make a person who has seizure signs cannot control and predict his actions. Based on the Electroencephalography (EEG) signals which are recorded from human or animal brains, the scientists use many methods to detect and recognize the abnormal activities of brain. Tucker model is investigated to solve this problem. Tucker decomposition is known as a higher-order form of Singular Value Decomposition (SVD), a well-known algorithm for decomposing a matric. It is widely used to extract good features of a tensor. After decomposing, the result of Tucker decomposition is a core tensor and some factor matrices along each mode. This core tensor contains a number of the best information of original data. In this paper, we used Tucker decomposition as a way to obtain good features. Training data is primarily applied into the core tensor and the remained matrices will be combined with the test data to build the Tucker base that is used for testing. Using core tensor makes the process simpler and obtains higher accuracies.

차압식 벤튜리콘 유량계에 대한 유동해석 (Numerical analysis of the differential pressure venturi-cone flowmeter)

  • The differential pressure venturi-cone flowmeter is an advanced flowmeter which has many advantages such as wide range of measurement, high accuracy, excellent flow turn-down ratio, low headless, short installation pipe length requirement, and etc. Like other differential pressure flowmeters, the venturi-cone flowmeter uses the law of energy conservation, but its shape and position make it perform better than others. The cone acts as its own flow conditioner and mixer, fully conditioning and mixing the flow prior to measurement. For the analysis, we used Reynolds-averaged Wavier-Stokes equations and k-$\omega$ turbulence model. The equations were fully transformed into the computational domain, the pressure-velocity coupling was made through SIMPLER algorithm, and the equations were discretized using finite analytic solutions of the liberalized equations(Finite Analytic Method). To control the separation phenomenon on the cone surface, we proposed a new shape of cone, and analyzed the flowfield in the new flowmeter system, and found the improvement on the performance of the new cone flowmeter.

다중 자기부상 시스템의 분산형 $H_{\infty}$ 제어 (Decentralized $H_{\infty}$ Control of Multiple Magnetic Levitation System)

  • In this paper, an application of a decentralized $H_{\infty}$ controller(DHC) to multiple controlled-permanent magnet(CMAG) magnetic levitation(Maglev) systems is presented. The designed DHC using two Riccati equations iteratively has simpler structure and needs less computational loads than conventional centralized $H_{\infty}$ controller. A target plant is a hybrid-type CMAG system with permanent magnet and coil, and its mathematical model is firstly derived to design the DHC. To implement the designed algorithm, a real Maglev vehicle system including digital controller, chopper, sensor, etc., is manufactured. To compare the performances of the DHC method with an observer-based state feedback control(OSFC), the input tracking and disturbance rejection characteristics are experimentally tested. As performance indices(PI), integral of squared error(ISE), integral of absolute error(IAE), integral of time multiplied by absolute error(ITAE) and integral of time multiplied by squared error(ITSE) are used. From the experimental results, it can be seen that the input tracking and disturbance rejection performances of the DHC are better than those of the conventional controller.

  • Dynamic rerouting이 가능한 다중경로를 갖는 다단 상호접속망을 제안하였다. 구성방식이 간단하며, 단의 수는 $LOG_{2}$(N)으로 감소하므로 Hardware의 복잡도가 감소하는 효과를 얻었다. 출력 번지를 경로선택 태그로 사용할 수 있는 알고리듬을 제안하여 경로 선택 방법을 간단하게 하였고, Dynamic Rerouting이 가능하므로 충돌이 발생하거나, 혹은 스위치 소자에서 고장이 발생한 경우 현 위치에서 역 추적 없이 다른 경로를 선택할 수 있게 되었다. 성능 면에서는 probability of acce-ptance가 개선되었으며, 이를 해석적 방법으로 입증하였다.

CORDIC 구조를 이용한 디지털 위상 오차 보상기의 VLSI 구현 (VLSI Implementation of CORDIC-based Derotator)

  • 디지털 통신 시스템에서 입력 신호의 주파수와 위상 오차를 보정하는 디지털 위상 오차 보상기(derotator)를 CORDIC (COordinate Rotation DIgital Computer) 알고리즘을 이용하는 VLSI로 구현하였다. CORDIC은 주어지는 위상값에 따라 입력 신호를 직접 회전시키므로, 디지털 주파수 합성기 (Direct Digital Frequency Synthesizer)와 복소수 승산기를 이용하는 기존의 구현 방법에 비해 하드웨어 면에서 간단하다. 디지털 위상 오차 보상기는 작은 위상 오차를 누적하므로 arctangent 함수의 선형 근사를 이용한 고속의 CORDIC 알고리즘을 이용하는 기존에 비해 약 24%의 속도 향상이 가능하였다. 본 설계된 IC는 0.6㎛ triple metal 공정을 이용하였으며, 전체 칩 면적은 6.8㎟ , 트랜지스터의 개수는 11,400 개다. 측정 결과 최대 동작 주파수는 25 MHz이다
