Amentoflavone Acts as a Radioprotector for Irradiated v79 Cells by Regulating Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS), Cell Cycle and Mitochondrial Mass

  • Radioprotective effects of amentoflavone were investigated by examining cell viability, apoptosis, cell cycling concentrations of intracellular ROS (reactive oxygen species), and relative mitochondrial mass by flow cytometry after $^{60}Co$ irradiation. Pretreatment with amentoflavone 24 hours prior to 8 Gy $^{60}Co$ ${\gamma}$-ray irradiation significantly inhibited apoptosis, promoted the G2 phase, decreased the concentration of ROS and mitochondrial mass. These results collectively indicate that amentoflavone is an effective radioprotective agent.

  • The prediction of performance, exhaust emissions and EGR effect is made by the SI engine cycle simulation. In this simulation several models are employed - two zome, thermodynamic combustion, mass fraction burned, heat transfer, chemical equilibrium, chemical kinetics for NOx, laminar flame speed for ignition delay. The chemical species in burned gas considered are 13 species-CO$_{2}$, CO, $O_{2}$, H$_{2}$O, H$_{2}$,OH, H, O, N$_{2}$, NO$_{2}$, N, Ar - and the cylinder pressure, burned and unburned zone temperature and composition of gas are calculated at each crank angle through the compression, ignition delay, combustion and expansion process. To check the validity of the model, experimental study is done for measuring emissions, combustion pressure and engine output. The predicted values for pressure and emissions show qualitative agreement with the measured data and the EGR effect also shows similar tendency.

  • We consider an integrated supply chain model in which multiple suppliers replenish items for a single buyer's demand. Also the buyer specifies a basic replenishment cycle and the suppliers replenish the items only at those time intervals. Namely, we propose a model to study and analyze the benefit by coordinating supply chain inventories through the basic replenishment cycle time. The objective of this model is to minimize the total relevant annual cost of the integrated inventory model. After developing proposed coordinated models, we suggest heuristics for searching the solutions of our models. Finally, numerical and computational experiments for each policy are carried out to evaluate the benefits of those models and the compensation policy is addressed to share the benefits.

  • This study attempts to utilize the economic efficiency analysis results focused on the break-even point as an indicator for the decision making of commanders and staff. We suggested a method of determining economic life by utilizing logistics information system and commercial program Minitab with a focus on the equipment's operational environment and performance data, whereas previously the equipment's retirement period was simply determined by the current equipment prices and sustainable period.

  • Activation of hepatic stellate cell has been identified as a critical step in hepatic fibrogenesis and is regulated by several factors including cytokines and oxidative stress. In this study, we assayed effects of saponin (CKS), inulin (CKI) and oligo-sugars (CKO) isolated from Platycodon grandiflorum A. DC, changkil (CK) on experimental cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in hepatic stellate cell line (HSC-T6). CKS induced cell arrest at G$_1$. CKS also reduced intercellular reactive oxygen species and collagen synthesis in hydrogen peroxide-induced oxidative stress and acetaldehyde-stimulated collagen synthesis, respectively, in HSC-T6 cells.   • 저비용, 고효율, 안정적 수급이 가능한 전력 에너지원이 요구되면서 석탄이 새로운 에너지원으로 급부상하게 됨에 따라 차세대 친환경 석탄화력 발전기술인 IGCC (Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle) 발전 시스템 의 개발이 필요하게 되었다. 석탄가스화 공정(IGCC: integrated coal gasification combined cycle)은 석탄을 가스화한 후 이를 이용하여 복합발전소를 운전하는 발전기술로서 석탄을 고온, 고압아래에서 수소와 일산화탄소를 주성분으로 한 합성가스로 전환한 뒤 합성가스 중에 포함 된 분진과 황 화합물 등 유해물질을 제거하고 천연가스와 유사한 수준으로 정제하여 전기를 생산하는 친환경 발전 기술이다.

$SiO_2$가 유리섬유로 보강된 고분자 겔 전해질의 전기 화학적 특성에 미치는 영향 ([ $SiO_2$ ] Effect on the Electrochemical Properties of Polymeric Gel Electrolytes Reinforced with Glass Fiber Cloth)

  • 유리섬유(glass fiber cloth, GFC)가 보강제로 사용된 고분자 겔 전해질(polymeric gel electrolytes, PGEs)에 $SiO_2$를 첨가하여 전해질의 전기 화학적 특성을 조사하였다. 가소제로는 Ethylene carbonate(EC) , propylene carbonate(PC), diethyl carbonate(DEC)를, 리튬염으로는 $LiClO_4$를 고분자로는 polyacrylronitrile(PAN)과 poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoro propylene)(P(VdF-co-HFP))을 사용하여 $80\~90{\mu}m$의 두께로 전해질을 제조하였다. 제조된 전해질은 모두 상온체서 $10^{-3}S/cm$의 이온 전도도를 나타내었고, 4.8V까지 안정하였다. 리튬금속을 사용하여 제조된 셀의 임피던스 결과에서는 시간이 지남에 따라 모든 전해질이 부동태 피막의 성장으로 계면저항이 증가했으나, $SiO_2$첨가비율에 따라 뚜렷한 차이는 보이지 않았다. $LiClO_2$와 mesophase pitch-based carbon fiber(MCF)를 각각 양극과 음극으로 사용하여 제조된 겔의 임피던스에서는 $SiO_2$가 첨가되지 않은 셀의 옴 저항이 충전, 방전이 진행되는 동안 많은 변화를 보였으며, $SiO_2$가 첨가된 셀의 저항은 거의 변화되지 않았고, 계면의 변화도 적었다. 또한 방전용량에서도 $SiO_2$$20\%$가 첨가된 전해질이 0.2C의 방전속도에132mAh/g의 비 용량을 나타내었고, 2C의 방전속도에서$85\%$의 방전용량을 유지하였다.

  • 국내에는 나노 분말 제조를 위한 RF 열플라즈마 시스템 제조 기술이 확보되어 있지 않고, 또한 나노 파우더 제조를 위한 공정 기술 역시 외국 업체에 전적으로 의존하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 나노 분말 제조를 위한 RF 열 플라즈마 토치 시스템 개발과 고품질의 나노 파우더 합성 공정 기술을 확립하여 필요 기관에 제공하는데 있다. 80 kW RF Plasma torch system의 설계 및 제작을 위해 플라즈마 Simulator인 CFD-ACE+를 이용하여 플라즈마 토치 및 반응로 내의 온도 분포, 유체 유동, 열전달 등의 해석을 통해 플라즈마 토치 및 반응로의 반경 및 길이, 구조의 설계 값을 도출하여 반응로를 설계하여 RF 파워, RF 플라즈마 토치(Torch), 반응기(Reactor), 사이클론(Cyclone), 포집부(Collector), 열교환기 및 진공배기 시스템으로 구성하였다. Si 나노 소재의 경우, 이차전지 음극재에 적용이 가능한 대표적인 소재로서 높음 비용량과 충/방전시 부피팽창을 감소시킬 수 있어 이차전지의 고용량 구현을 위해서는 가장 중요한 소재중 하나로 많은 관심 재료로 평가 받고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 상용화된 Si 원료 powder를 사용하여 고상 분체 공급 장치를 통하여 고온의 플라즈마를 통과시켜 기상화 및 결정화과정을 통해 Si 나노분말을 제조하였다. 공정 변수로서 공정압력 및 플라즈마 power, Gas의 변화량에 따른 나노 분말의 제조 특성에 대한 실험을 진행한 후 제조된 나노 분말을 비표면적측정(BET) 및 SEM 측정 결과 분석을 통하여 시스템 특성을 파악하였으며 제조된 Si 나노 파우더는 이차전지 음극재로서 770 mAh/g의 용량과 93%@50 cycle 수준의 유지율을 나타내었다.

STUDY ON COMBUSTION CHARACTERISTICS AND APPLICATION OF RADIAL INDUCED IGNITION METHOD IN AN ACTUAL ENGINE

  • This experimental study was executed to obtain basic data for actual engine operation using radical induced ignition method (RI) which can achieve emission reduction and high efficiency due to the rapid bulk combustion. In this study, a direct injection diesel engine was converted into SI type engine with a sparkplug. The modified SI type engine can be divided into two classes. One is the SI engine with a sparkplug only at the cylinder head, and the other is the SI engine with the sparkplug which is enveloped in a sub-chamber. Also, a basic experimental was conducted in order to investigate combustion mechanism of radical induced injection before the experiment execution for actual engine using the modified SI engine. The bulk combustion phenomenon of radical induced ignition method was analyzed from the basic experiment by using a constant volume chamber. Volume value of sub-chamber used in this experiment is approximately $0.2\%$ of one of the main combustion chamber. In this paper, combustion characteristics using radical induced injection method was compared with that of using spark ignition method according to change in the engine speed and equivalence ratio. As a result, in the case of the radical induced injection engine, the combustion duration and cycle variation were respectively reduced ranged from $\Phi$(equivalence ratio)=0.8 (lean mixture ratio) to $\Phi$=1.0 (stoichiometric ratio).

절연보호막 처리된 Al-1 % Si박막배선에서 D.C.와 Pulsed D.C. 조건하에서의 electromigration현상에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Electromigratin Phenomena in Dielectric Passivated Al-1Si Thin Film Interconnections under D.C. and Pulsed D.C.Conditions.)

  • The electromigration phenomena and the characterizations of the conductor lifetime (Time-To-Failure, TTF) in Al-1%Si thin film interconnections under D.C. and Pulsed D.C. conditions were investigated . Meander type test patterns were fabricated with the dimensions of 21080$mu \textrm{m}$ length, 3$\mu\textrm{m}$ width, 0.7$\mu\textrm{m}$ thickness and the 0.1$\mu\textrm{m}$/0.8$\mu\textrm{m}$($SiO_2$/PSG)dielectric overlayer. The current densities of $2 \times10^6 A/\textrm{cm}^2$ and $1 \times10^7 A/\textrm{cm}^2$ were stressed in Al-1%Si thin film interconnection s under a D.C. condition. The peak current densities of $2 \times10^6 A/\textrm{cm}^2$ and $1 \times10^7 A/\textrm{cm}^2$ were also applied under a Pulsed D.C. condition at frequencies of 200KHz, 800KHz, 1MHz, and 4MHz with the duty factor of 0.5. THe time-to-failure under a Pulsed D.C.($TTF_{pulsed D.C}$) was appeared to be larger than that under a D.C. condition. It was found that the TTF under both a D.C. and a Pulsed D.C. condition. It was found that the TTF under both a D.C. and a Pulsed D.C. condition largely depends upon the appiled current densities respectively . This can be explained by a relaxation mechanism view due to a duty cycle under a Pulsed D.C. related to the wave on off. The relaxation phenomena during the pulsed off period result in the decayof excess vacancies generated in the Al-1%Si thin film interconnections because of the electrical and mechanical stress gradient . Hillocks and voids formed by an electromigration were observed by using a SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy).
