Purpose: Bilateral traumatic locked posterior dislocations of the shoulder are very rare and there has been no report on the operative treatment for this injury in the Korean medical literature. Materials and Methods: We present here a case of bilateral locked posterior dislocations of the shoulders after trauma and this was successfully treated with open reduction and lesser tuberosity transfer on the right shoulder and subscapularis tendon transfer on the left shoulder. Results and Conclusion: Twenty-four months later, the clinical and radiologic results were excellent.
The purpose of this article is to know the standard figures of joint range of motion, in conjuction with age and sen, for normal adults. The results of assessment and analysis io shoulder and hip joint range of motion are as follows : 1) The average shoulder joint range of motion in normal adults are $160.5^{\circ}$ in flexion, $53.5^{\circ}$ in extension, $159.3^{\circ}$ in adduction, $62.3^{\circ}$ in internal rotation, $83.9^{\circ}$ in external rotation, The average hip joint range of motions are $116.8^{\circ}$ in flexion, $16.1^{\circ}$ in extension, $41.1^{\circ}$ in abduction, $33.8^{\circ}$ in abduction, $40.0^{\circ}$ in interne rotation, $41.2^{\circ}$ in external rotation. 2) There is no significant difference in shoulder and hip joint range of motion between male and female (p>0.05). 3) As to the inter-relation in age and range of motion, the left flexion and extension, internal rotation and right extension in shoulder joint is decreased gradually with increasing age, and left flexion (knee flexion, knee extension) and right flexion (knee extension) in hip joint is decreased with increasing age (p<0.01). 4) Relating to age and sex, the twenties male shows highest range of motion in shoulder and hip joint, with .the fifties female shows, lowest range of motion.
Purpose: This study examined the effect of electro-acupuncture stimulation of the infraspinatus and teres major on the shoulder function reduction. The subjects consisted of 20 female patients with a shoulder dysfunction. Methods: The 20 female patients with shoulder dysfunction participated voluntary in this research. 10 minute electro-acupuncture stimulation (frequency: 5Hz, Intensity: below the pain threshold) with Infra-red therapy, 3 times per week given to the patients' Trigger point of the infraspinatus and teres major. The Visual Analog Scale (VAS), Apley's Scratch Test and Global Perceived Effect Scale (GPES) were examined before alter six applications. Results: There was a significant decrease in the VAS (p<0.05) and Apley's Scratch Test (p<0.05). In addition, there was statistically significant increase in the Global Perceived Effect Scale (p<0.05). Therefore, the infraspinatus and teres major is a very important muscle for the shoulder function. Conclusion: This data will be used to develop a treatment method for patients with a shoulder dysfunction. These results suggest that the electro-acupuncture stimulation into the infraspinatus and the teres major Trigger point is an effective intervention for patients with shoulder dysfunction and pain.

Background: Although the scapular posterior tilt movement could facilitate the lower trapezius (LT) muscle activity, no study identified the effects of the scapular posterior tilt movement on the selective activation of the LT muscle during prone shoulder extension. Objectives: To examine the influences of additional scapular posterior tilt on electromyography (EMG) of the upper trapezius (UT) and the LT muscles during prone shoulder extension. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: There were 15 asymptomatic male participants in this study who performed prone shoulder extension with and without scapular posterior tilt movements. For the scapular posterior tilt movements, participants performed visual biofeedback training for scapular movement using motion sensor. During the exercises, the EMG activity of the UT and LT was recorded using surface EMG system. Results: The EMG activity of the LT significantly increased during prone shoulder extension with scapular posterior tilt compared to that of general prone shoulder extension, whereas that of the UT was not significantly different between the two exercises. Moreover, scapular posterior tilt application significantly decreased UT/LT muscle activity ratio. Conclusion: Scapular posterior tilt movement may be emphasized during exercise when facilitating LT muscle activation.
This study aims to verify the sewing technology and the expression of the virtual garment program by comparing the appearance similarity between the real and the virtual power shoulder jacket. To this end, the H and the X silhouettes of the power shoulder jacket were selected as the reference designs. After making the reference designs into real jackets by applying the human body dimensions of women in their twenties, virtual avatars and jackets were produced using CLO 3D programs. The results showed that the H-type with only expanded shoulders and less design variation had a high similarity between the reference photo and real garment, the real and virtual garment, and the reference photo and virtual garment. The power shoulder jacket of the reference picture was well reproduced in the real and virtual garments. Conversely, the X-type jacket, which is a tight fit and has many design variations, showed somewhat low similarity in the circumference items and the basic construction line. Especially in tight-fitted power shoulder jackets, the fact that shoulder angles and the essential items for pattern making cannot be reflected in reproducing virtual models was found to be a limitation in increasing the similarity of virtual clothing. Furthermore, the sewing system gap between the real and the virtual clothing exposed a difference in the appearance of virtual clothing.
Background: The Friends and Family Test (FFT) developed by the UK National Health Service evaluates whether patients are satisfied with a service provided, where improvements are needed, and how likely patients are to recommend the intervention. Calculated from the FFT, the Net Promoter Score (NPS) creates a recommendation metric for treatment. The primary aim of this prospective study is to evaluate NPS for arthroscopic subacromial decompression (ASD) and rotator cuff repair (RCR). Secondary aims are to postoperatively evaluate 1-year changes in patients' Oxford Shoulder Scores (OSSs) in terms of the proportion of patients satisfied with their surgery and correlation with FFT. Methods: During a 2-year period, all patients undergoing ASD or RCR completed questionnaires prospectively. Collected preoperatively and postoperatively at 1 year. Results: NPSs were 31 for ASD (n=32) and 52 for RCR (n=39). OSSs increased by 4.3 and 6.9 for ASD and RCR, respectively (P<0.001). Overall, 75% of ASD and 77% of RCR patients were either "satisfied" or "very satisfied," respectively, with procedure outcomes. Scores from FFT had a positive correlation with improvement in OSS and satisfaction scores among patients undergoing arthroscopic shoulder surgeries (P<0.001). Conclusions: The current study shows positive NPS outcomes in patients with ASD and RCR. Scores from FFT correlate well with both satisfaction and OSS among patients. NPS can be an adjunct to traditional patient-reported outcome measures to provide global evaluation of patient experiences to aid in determining the clinical value of common procedures in shoulder orthopaedics. Level of evidence: III.
This study was conducted to find out the compensation strategy through kinetic gait analysis by comparing dog with congenital luxation of the shoulder joint and normal dog. Ground reaction forces were recorded for all limbs while normal poodle dog and poodle dog with shoulder joint luxation was allowed to walk on an instrumented platform. The dogs were evaluated for maximal vertical force (MVF), body load distribution (BLD), and symmetry index (SI). The MVF was increased in the contralateral forelimb of luxated shoulder joint. The SI was also increased in a dog with dislocated shoulder joints in the forelimbs. For BLD, the maximum load distribution increased centrally, but the total load distribution decreased in the ipsilateral forelimb paw. In contrast, total load distribution was increased in the contralateral forelimb paw. During forelimb lameness, changes in weight-bearing load showed compensatory load redistribution. These biomechanical changes may lead to changes in the musculoskeletal system in a dog with luxated shoulder.

The authors present a case of transient postoperative inferior subluxation of the shoulder after arthroscopic surgical stabilization for recurrent anterior dislocation. The patient was a 61-year-old woman with myasthenia gravis (MG). The first anterior shoulder dislocation occurred because of a fall to the ground. Despite a successful closed reduction, two more dislocations occurred in 3 weeks. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed an anterior labroligamentous periosteal sleeve avulsion (ALPSA) lesion, an engaging Hill-Sachs lesion, and large tears of the supraspinatus and infraspinatus tendons. The patient underwent arthroscopic rotator cuff repair and ALPSA repair with a remplissage procedure. Intraoperatively, no tendency for instability was found; however, a widened glenohumeral joint space and inferior subluxation of the humeral head without functional compromise was observed on the day after surgery and disappeared spontaneously on radiographs 2 weeks later. To the authors' knowledge, this is the first report documenting the occurrence of transient postoperative inferior subluxation of the shoulder in a patient with MG.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to compare the activation of shoulder stabilizer muscles to variations of manual resistance during three-dimensional shoulder rehabilitation exercises. Methods: A total of 13 participants were included in this study. To normalize each muscle's activity, a maximal isometric voluntary contraction was performed by all participants. After receiving 30 minutes of training in three-dimensional shoulder rehabilitation exercises, participants randomly performed PNF arm and scapular patterns according to the intensities of manual resistance. The activities of the upper trapezius, lower trapezius, and serratus anterior were measured during these patterns. All exercises were performed for five seconds, and the average of three seconds, excluding the first and last seconds, was used for data analysis. Results: Lower trapezius activity was significant among manual resistance intensities. In both the PNF arm and scapular patterns, using 80% manual resistance of maximum resistance showed higher activity of the lower trapezius muscle compared to 20% of the maximum resistance. Conclusion: It is expected that PNF arm and scapular patterns, with varying intensities of manual resistance, can be used for early rehabilitation of patients with shoulder impingement syndrome.
