The conventional scan methods are based on a laser scanner and a depth camera, which requires high cost and complicated post-processing. Whereas in photometric scanning method, the 3D modeling data is acquired through multi-view images. This is advantageous compared to the other methods. The quality of a photometric 3D model depends on the environmental conditions or the object characteristics, but the quality is lower as compared to other methods. Therefore, various methods for improving the quality of photometric scanning are being studied. In this paper, we aim to investigate the effect of illumination conditions on the quality of photometric scanning data. To do this, 'Moai' statue is 3D printed with a size of $600(H){\times}1,000(V){\times}600(D)$. The printed object is photographed under the hard light and soft light environments. We obtained the modeling data by photometric scanning method and compared it with the ground truth of 'Moai'. The 'Point-to-Point' method used to analyseanalyze the modeling data using open source tool 'CloudCompare'. As a result of comparison, it is confirmed that the standard deviation value of the 3D model generated under the soft light is 0.090686 and the standard deviation value of the 3D model generated under the hard light is 0.039954. This proves that the higher quality 3D modeling data can be obtained in a hard light environment. The results of this paper are expected to be applied for the acquisition of high-quality data.
The model using time series data can be considered as a flood forecasting model of a small river due to its efficiency for model development and the advantage of rapid simulation for securing predicted time when reliable data are obtained. Transfer Function Noise (TFN) model has been applied hourly flood forecast in Italy, and UK since 1970s, while it has mainly been used for long-term simulations in daily or monthly basis in Korea. Recently, accumulating hydrological data with good quality have made it possible to simulate hourly flood prediction. The purpose of this study is to assess the TFN model applicability that can reflect exogenous variables by combining dynamic system and error term to reduce prediction error for tributary rivers. TFN model with hourly data had better results than result from Storage Function Model (SFM), according to the flood events. And it is expected to expand to similar sized streams in the future.
This study was conducted to evaluate the possible utilization of 5 different animal protein sources in juvenile rainbow trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss. Meat and bone meal (MBM), feather meal (FM), squid liver powder (SLP), poultry by-product(PBP) and blood meal (BM) were chosen to be the candidate for the possible ingredients for the dietary fish meal replacer in rainbow trout feed. Six different diets were formulated of isonitrogenous and isocaloric basis of $48\textperthousand$ crude protein and 16.7 kJ/g diet: diet 1, $100\textperthousand$ white fish meal (WFM); diet w, $80\textperthousand$ WFM +20% MBM; diet 3, 80% WFM +20% FM; diet 4, 80% WFM+20% SLP; diet 5, 80% SFM+20% PBP; diet 6, 80% WFM +20% BM. As the dietary protein sources, each diet containing 34.7% of animal protein were supplied by WFM with and without MBM, FM, SLP, PBP or BM and approximately 64.2% of plant protein. After one week of conditioning period, fish averaging 2g were divided into six groups and fed one of the experimental diets for 8 weeks. After eight weeks of feeding trials, there were no significant differences in weight gain and feed conversion ratio among groups of fish fed diet 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6(P>0.05). However, weight gain of fish fed diet 2 were significantly lower than those of fish fed diet 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6(P<0.05). These results indicated that FM, SLP, PBP and BM can be used as a dietary fish meal replacer up to 20% in juvenile rainbow trout.
This paper aims to contribute to the introduction of forest certification (a private enterprise) in Korea by developing C&I with consideration of the Korean forestry situation. For this study, 6 attributes for establishing certification system at FMU level was applied. To weigh relative importance of international organization's assortment and indicators, AHP survey was conducted to each experts in political, ecological, social, and economic field. By the experts attending FSC's auditing process, indicators adopted through AHP survey were inspected again for the realistic application in the fields. In this process, the typical environment of Korean forestry in real aspect and problems in FSC system were reaffirmed. Therefore, 7 criteria, 27 indicators and 92 checklists were finally developed for the construction of forest certification based on the results of AHP surveys and from investigation on the realistic situation in the fields.
Eighteen water buffalo calves of Nili-Ravi breed (about 15 months age and of $147{\pm}12$ kg average body weight and mixed sex) were used with six animals on each treatment. All the animals were fed long wheat straw for ad libitum intake as the basal ration. Animals in group-I were supplemented with ad libitum amount of urea molasses block having cotton seed meal (CSMB) while the animals in group-II were supplemented with ad libitum urea molasses block containing sunflower seed meal (SFMB) and group III animals were supplemented with a fixed amount of commercial concentrate feed (CCF). The experiment lasted for a period of 80 days (April to June). Results revealed a significantly decreased total feed intake (wheat straw+supplements) in group-III ($1,666{\pm}52$ g/h/d) as compared to group I ($2,299{\pm}194$ g/h/d) and group-II ($2,193{\pm}230$ g/h/d). Average daily supplement intakes were $891{\pm}87$; $666{\pm}104$ and $593{\pm}0$ grams per head in group I, II and III, respectively. Supplement intakes among groups were different (p<0.05). Average daily body weight gains (g/h) were $214{\pm}25$, $174{\pm}23 $and $183{\pm}24$ for group I, II and III, respectively. Feed conversion ratio (FCR) was found to be $10.74{\pm}1.12$, $12.60{\pm}0.88$ and $9.90{\pm}1.33$ grams for group No. I, II and III, respectively. The economic net benefit of live weight gain of calves were 7.63, 6.11 and 7.33 rupees/h/d for group No. I, II and III, respectively. Thus SFM can replace CSM and urea molasses blocks can replace commercial concentrates as supplement to basal ration of wheat straw.
Recently, global terminal operotors are struggling to attract more cargoes into their ports through enlarging facilities and trying to be more efficient operotion Many researches on container terminal efficiency have been conducted, but most of the traditional studies are focused on the partial efficiency of the container terminal using quantitative questionnaires and basic statistical data In this paper, the Stochastic Frontier Model of the interaction among the variables was employed to execute numerical analysis on the efficiency of terminal. The objective of this paper is to measure the level of efficiency in the container terminals every year and to assess the influence in container terminal's efficiency on domestic and foreign terminals by changing the terminal scales and the level of input factors.
Image fusion techniques are widely used to integrate a lower spatial resolution multispectral image with a higher spatial resolution panchromatic image. However, the existing techniques either cannot avoid distorting the image spectral properties or involve complicated and time-consuming decomposition and reconstruction processing in the case of wavelet transform-based fusion. In this study a simple spectral preserve fusion technique: the Smoothing Filter-based Replacement(SFR) is proposed based on a simplified solar radiation and land surface reflection model. By using a ratio between a higher resolution image and its low pass filtered (with a smoothing filter) image, spatial details can be injected to a co-registered lower resolution multispectral image minimizing its spectral properties and contrast. The technique can be applied to improve spatial resolution for either colour composites or individual bands. The fidelity to spectral property and the spatial quality of SFM are convincingly demonstrated by an image fusion experiment using IKONOS panchromatic and multispectral images. The visual evaluation and statistical analysis compared with other image fusion techniques confirmed that SFR is a better fusion technique for preserving spectral information.
Purpose: This study examined the effects of ${\alpha}$-lipoic acid in diluted solvents on cell growth in 3T3-L1 cells according to the treated concentration and times. Methods: Adipocyte 3T3-L1 cell were cultured. Confluent cells underwent starvation with SFM for 1 day and then were cultured in a medium containing various concentrations 0, 100, 200, and $400{\mu}mol/L$ of ${\alpha}$-lipoic acid. The cell viability was measured using the EZ Cytox assay kit. In addition, the effect of ${\alpha}$-lipoic acid of diluted solvents on the cell growth in 3T3-L1cells was examined according to the treated concentration and times. Results: The ${\alpha}$-lipoic acid diluted ethanol inhibited cell proliferation in a dose and time dependent manner. The ${\alpha}$-lipoic acid diluted ethanol induced adipocyte 3T3-L1 cells proliferation with an adipocyte inducer. In addition, ${\alpha}$-lipoic acid inhibited adipocyte 3T3-L1 growth in a dose and time dependent manner (p<0.05). Conclusion: This study showed that a treatment with ${\alpha}$-lipoic acid diluted ethanol inhibits cell growth of, adipocyte 3T3-L1 cells induced with an adipocyte inducer, ($200{\mu}mol/L$ of ${\alpha}$-lipoic acid) treated for 48 hr.
This study attempts to develop a stochastic-dynamic real-time flow forecasting model for an event-orient watershed storage function model (SFM), which has been used as an official flood computation model in Korea, and to evaluate its performance for real-time flow forecast. The study area is the 747.5$\textrm{km}^2$ Hwecheon basin with outlet at Gaejin and the 8 single flow events during 1983-1986 are selected for comparison and verification of model parameter and model performance. The used model parameters in this study are the same values on field work. It is shown that results from the existing model highly depend on the events, but those from the developed model are stable and well predict the flows for the selected flood events. The coefficient of model efficiency between observed and predicted flows for the events was above 0.90. It is concluded that the developed model that can consider model and observation uncertainties during a flood event is feasible and produces reliable real-time flow forecasts on the area.
Purpose: The objective of this study was conducted to investigate the effects of rutin, buckwheat components on cell growth and anti-inflammation in adipocyte 3T3-L1 and human colon cancer cell SW-480. Methods: We cultured 3T3-L1 adipocyte and SW-480 colon cancer cell to confluence, at which time starvation was induced with SFM for 1 day. Cells were then cultured in medium containing 0, 25, 50, or $100{\mu}mol/mL$ of rutin 3T3-L1 or 0, 10, 20, or $40{\mu}mol/mL$ SW-480. Cell viability was measured using a cell viability kit. In addition, we examined the expression of mRNA related to inflammation. RT-PCR was used to quantity tumor necrosis factor ($TNF-{\alpha}$), interleukin-$1{\beta}$ ($IL-1{\beta}$), IL-6, inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) mRNA levels. Results: Rutin significantly inhibited 3T3-L1 and SW-480 cell proliferation in a dose and time dependent manner. Rutin also significantly reduced the mRNA expression of $IL-1{\beta}$, IL-6 and $TNF-{\alpha}$ at the highest dose. In addition, rutin treatment caused a significant reduction in COX-2 and iNOS mRNA levels compared to the control group. Conclusion: Overall, our results suggest that rutin has the potential to reduce inflammation, and that these effects are greater during tissue-damaging inflammatory conditions.
