콩식이섬유를 첨가한 식빵의 이화학적 및 품질 특성 (The Physicochemical and Quality Properties of the Bread Added with Soy Fiber Powder)

  • 본 연구는 여러 가지 생리활성 물질을 가지고 있는 콩식이섬유의 섭취를 증가시키기 위하여 콩식이섬유 SF-1450과 SF-1260을 각각 강력분에 0~12% 첨가하여 식빵을 제조하였다. 콩식이섬유 복합분의 식이섬유 함량은 SF-1450, SF-1260 각각 72.0%, 67.8%이었다. Mixograph 특성은 midline peak height, width at peak, width at 8.00 에서는 콩식이섬유 첨가량이 증가할수록 증가하는 경향을 보였다. 식빵의 비용적은 콩식이섬유 첨가량이 증가할수록 대조구보다 유의적으로 감소하는 경향을 보였다. Crust 색도변화는 콩식이섬유의 첨가량이 증가할수록 각각 L값은 4~12% 첨가구에서 대조구보다 유의적으로 증가하였고 a값은 SF-1450은 6~12% 첨가구, SF-1260은 8~12% 첨가구에서 대조구보다 유의적으로 감소하였으며 crumb 색도변화는 b 값의 경우 대조부보다 유의적으로 증가하였다.(p<0.05). Texture의 특성인 경도의 경우 SF-1450은 10~12% 첨가구에서, SF-1260은 6~12% 첨가구에서 대조구보다 유의적으로 증가하였다. 이상에서 살펴본 바와 같이 콩식이섬유 첨가식빵의 관능특성은 첨가량이 증가함에 따라 대조구보다 품질이 떨어지는 현상을 보였고, 이화학적 분석과 전체적인 기호도를 종합해보면 SF-1450의 경우는 2~4%, SF-1260의 경우는 2% 첨가구의 경우가 우수하게 평가되었다.

A Productive Replication of Hyphantria cunea Nucleopolyhedrovirus in Lymantria dispar Cell Line

  • In this study, comparative replicational properties of Hyphantria cunea nucleopolyhedrovirus (HycuNPV) in Lymantria dispar (IPLB-LdElta) and Spodoptera frugiperda (IPLB-Sf21) cell lines were investigated. Our microscopic observations showed that cytopathic effects (CPEs) in LdElta cells appeared 12 h later than those in Sf21 cells. Whereas polyhedral inclusion bodies (PIBs) formed at 48 h postinfection (p.i.) in LdElta cells, it formed at 36 h p.i. in Sf21 cells. Extracellular virus production determined according to the 50% tissue culture infective dose ($TCID_{50}$) method in LdElta cells started about 12 h later when compared with Sf21 cells. Titers of extracellular virus in LdElta and Sf21 cells were calculated as $1.77{\times}10^9$ plaque forming units (PFU)/ml and $5.6{\times}10^9PFU/ml$, respectively, at 72 h p.i. We also showed that viral DNA replication began at 12 h p.i. in both cell lines. Viral protein synthesis was determined by SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE) and polyhedrin synthesis was observed at 12 h p.i. in both cell lines. The results indicate that while the synthesis of macromolecules is 12 h later and production of extracellular virus is almost 3-fold lower in LdElta cells compared with those in Sf21 cells, the LdElta cell line is still a productive cell line for infection of HycuNPV.

Gelation of silk fibroin solution via β-sheet formation promoted by riboflavin-mediated photo-crosslinking

  • Di-tyrosine photo-crosslinking of silk fibroin (SF) is recently highlighted as a biocompatible hydrogel fabrication process, because this method does not need potentially harmful chemical species. However, the resulting crosslinking density is often insufficient to obtain a mechanically stiff hydrogel unless additional oxygen is provided during the reaction. In this study, we proposed a combinational crosslinking method to form an SF hydrogel via the di-tyrosine photo-crosslinking with riboflavin (photoinitiator) and physical interaction of SF chains. In the UV light-irradiated SF solution, small particles formed and these particles promoted β-sheet formation of SF molecules, resulting in quick gelation. The di-tyrosine photo-crosslinking produced nuclei that might trigger regular assembly of SF molecules in high temperature condition. Conclusively, this process would contribute to a development of biocompatible hydrogel fabrication for biomedical uses of SF hydrogels.

일반건강특성에 영향을 미치는 사상체질의 심리적, 신체적 요인에 대한 연구 (Study on the Effects of Sasang Psychobiological Factors on General Health Status)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the correlation between general health condition and biopsychological traits of Sasang typology which determines the disease susceptibility and treatment responses. We had Korean Constitutional Multicenter Bank (KCMB) listed 1156 participants for measuring Sasang Personality Questionnaire (SPQ) and Body Mass Index (BMI) for biopsychological traits of each Sasang types as well as Short Form 12 (SF12) for general health status. All the analysis was performed with consideration of gender and age. We analyzed the differences in general health status between Sasang types and the correlation between general health status and biopsychological traits of Sasang typology. We also analyzed how much the selected SF12 subscales can be explained with biopsychosocial characteristics. There were no generaliszable differences among Sasang type groups in SF12, no significant correlation between biopsychological traits and SF12 Physical and Mental Component Summary. We found that there were significant correlations between SPQ-Behavior subscale and SF12 Vitality, and the regression model with SPQ-Behavior, SPQ-Emotionality, age and sex can predict 15.4% of the total variances in SF12 Vitality. We discussed the possibility that the Sasang typology is not a determinant of general health status but a moderator for the susceptibility and response. This study would contribute to the development of Sasang type-specific life nurturing program focusing on the psychological perspectives.

발효 조건과 저장기간에 따른 나박김치의 특성 변화 (Quality Changes of Nabak Kimchi During Storage with Different Levels of Fermentation)

  • 본 연구는 나박김치를 초기 발효시킨 후 김치 냉장고에 저장하면서 먹을 경우 가장 적합한 초기 발효 조건을 결정하기 위하여 수행되었다. 이를 위하여 발효 온도는 $4^{\circ}C,\;15{\circ}C,\;25{\circ}C$로, 발효 시간은 12시간, 24시간으로 달리하여 초기 발효시킨 나박김치를 $4^{\circ}C$에서 저장하면서 이화학적, 미생물학적 및 관능적 특성 변화를 조사하였다. 저장 24일 동안 SF25, LF25, LF15의 pH는 감소하는 경향을 나타내었고, SF4, LF4, SF15의 pH는 초기에 상승하다가 저장 기간이 길어짐에 따라 감소하는 경향을 나타내었다. 적숙기의 pH $4.3{\sim}4.5$ 부근에 도달하는데 SF25는 저장 6일, LF15는 저장 21일 정도 소요되었다. 총산도는 초기 발효 직후 SF4, LF4, SF15의 세 처리군 간에 유의적인 차이는 없었고, 다른 처리군인 LF25의 총산도가 처리군 중에 유의적으로 가장 높았으며 SF25, LF15 순으로 유의적으로 높았다. 환원당 함량은 모든 처리군에서 저장 기간에 따라 유의적으로 증가하다가 최대치를 보이고 감소하였다. LF15, SF25 LF25의 용존 $CO_{2}$함량은 SF4, LF4, SF15의 용존 $CO_{2}$함량에 비하여 더 빠른 기간에 최대치에 달해 시원한 맛을 빠른 기일 내에 제공할 수 있는 것으로 생각된다. 명도와 적색도는 모든 처리군에서 저장 기간이 길어짐에 따라 감소하고, 황색도는 증가하는 경향을 나타내었다. 총균수와 젖산균수은 초기 발효 직후 LF25가 유의적으로 가장 많았으며 SF4와 LF4는 두 처리군 간에 유의적인 차이를 나타내지 않았고, SF4와 LF4는 처리군 중에 유의적으로 가장 낮은 값을 나타내었다. 총균수와 젖산균수의 변화는 용존 $CO_{2}$함량 변화와 유사한 경향을 나타내었다. SF4, LF4, SF15는 관능검사 결과 발효가 지연되어 풋내와 짠맛이 높게 평가되었고 탄산미는 낮게 평가되었다. LF25는 관능검사 결과 다른 처리군에 비해 신맛과 이취가 유의적으로 높게 평가되었다. $15^{\circ}C$에서 24시간 발효시킨 나박김치 (LF15)와 $25^{\circ}C$에서 12시간 발효시킨 나박김치(SF25)는 탄산미와 관계가 있는 용존 $CO_{2}$함량이 저장 12일까지 지속적으로 증가하였으며, 관능검사 결과 저장 기간 동안 다른 처리군에 비해 풋내와 이취가 적으면서 탄산미가 높게 평가되어 $15^{\circ}C$에서 24시간 발효(LF15)와 $25^{\circ}C$에서 12시간 발효(SF25)가 적합한 초기 발효 조건으로 생각된다. 이러한 연구 결과를 통해 물김치류인 동치미나 열무 물김치도 초기 발효 조건에 따라 이화학적, 미생물학적 및 관능적 특성에 많은 차이가 있을 것이므로 이에 대한 연구가 필요하다고 사료된다.

Reliability and Validity of the Early Trauma Inventory Self Report-Short Form among Korean Adolescents

  • Objectives: Experiencing early childhood trauma is related to multiple psychiatric problems in adolescents and adulthood. This study aimed to examine the reliability and validity of the Korean version of the Early Trauma Inventory Self Report-Short Form (ETISR-SF) among Korean adolescents. Methods: A total of 86 adolescents aged 12-17 years (mean age $14.50{\pm}1.35years$, range 12-17) were assessed using the ETISR-SF. Other instruments, including the Children's Depression Inventory (CDI), the revised Children's Manifest Anxiety Scale (RCMAS), and the List of Threatening Experiences Questionnaire (LTE-Q), were used to assess clinical symptoms. After 2 months, 51 of the 86 participants were evaluated using the ETISR-SF to assess test-retest reliability. Results: The Cronbach's coefficient alpha for the ETISR-SF was high (0.803). Adolescents with depressive disorder showed higher ETISR-SF scores compared to healthy controls. The ETISR-SF scores were correlated higher with the scores on the LTE-Q (r=0.485) than with the scores on the CDI or RCMAS (r=0.165 and 0.347, respectively). Conclusion: The ETISR-SF was temporally stable, showing acceptable reliability (r=0.776). These findings suggest that the Korean version of the ETISR-SF appears to be a reliable and valid instrument for the measurement of reported childhood trauma.

Experimental Investigation of Electrochemical Corrosion and Chloride Penetration of Concrete Incorporating Colloidal Nanosilica and Silica Fume

  • Enhancement of durability and reduction of maintenance cost of concrete, with the implementation of various approaches, has always been a matter of concern to researchers. The integration of pozzolans as a substitute for cement into the concrete is one of the most desirable technique. Silica fume (SF) and colloidal nanosilica (CS) have received a great deal of interest from researchers with their significant performance in improving the durability of concrete. The synergistic role of the micro and nano-silica particles in improving the main characteristics of cemented materials needs to be investigated. This work aims to examine the utility of partial substitution of cement by SF and CS in binary and ternary blends in the improvement of the durability characteristics linked to resistance for electrochemical corrosion using electrical resistivity and half-cell potential analysis and chloride penetration trough rapid chloride penetration test. Furthermore, the effects of this silica mixture on the compressive strength of concrete under normal and aggressive environment have also been investigated. Based on the maximum compression strength of the concrete, the optimal cement substituent ratios have been obtained as 12% SF and 1.5% CS for binary blends. The optimal CS and SF combination mixing ratios has been obtained as 1.0% and 12% respectively for ternary blends. The ternary blends with substitution of cement by optimal percentage of CS and SF exhibited decreased rate for electrochemical corrosion. The strength and durability studies were found in consistence with the microstructural analysis signifying the beneficiary role of CS and SF in upgrading the performance of concrete.

2세 미만 소아의 경도 두부 외상 후 두개골 골절 및 두개내 병변의 위험 인자 (The Clinical Usefulness of Halo Sign on CT Image of Trauma Patients)

  • Purpose: This research was performed to determine which clinical signs and symptoms of brain injury are sensitive indicators of skull fracture (SF) and intracranial injury (ICI) in head injured children. Methods: We conducted a prospective study of minor head trauma in children younger than 2 years of age for a 1-year period. Skull radiographs, brain computed tomography (CT), and data forms, including mechanism of injury, symptoms, physical findings, and hospital course, were completed for each child. Results: Of 137 study subjects, 17 (12.4%) had SF/ICI. Falls were the most common mechanism of injury, and heights of fall above 1 meter were associated with incidence of SF/ICI (p<0.05). Scalp abnormalities were not associated with incidence of SF/ICI. As for clinical symptoms, lethargy and a grouping of features (irritability & vomiting) were associated with incidence of SF/ICI (p<0.05). The incidence of seizure, loss of consciousness, vomiting, irritability, and scalp abnormality did not differ significantly between those with normal radiologic findings and those with SF/ICI. Among asymptomatic patients, 11 (14.5%) patients had SF/ICI, and among patients with normal scalp findings, 9 (12.7%) patients had SF/ICI. Conclusion: Clinical signs and symptoms, except for lethargy and a grouping of features (irritability & vomiting), were not sensitive predictors of SF/ICI. Nevertheless, SF/ICI occurred among normal children. In such a case, a liberal policy of CT scanning is warranted.

양만장 사육조에서 분리한 Edwardsiella tarda의 약제 내성과 R Plasmid (Antibiotic Resistance and R Plasmids in Edwardsiella tarda)

  • 서해안 일원의 가온 양만장 사육조로부터 분리한 E. tarda균에 대한 약제내성검사 및 내성균의 내성인자 전달 시험을 실시하였다. 공시한 항생제에 대한 내성률은 LM, PM, SD, SF 등에는 100%, AP, CH, SM, OT 및 CP 등에는 89% 이상, OA 및 KM에는 70% 정도 그리고 AK, GM 및 EF 등에는 30% 이하의 내성률을 보였으며, 이와같은 내성률은 각 양만장에서 분리한 균주간에 차이를 보이지 않았다. 내성유형은 총 34유형으로 모든 분리균주가 8~14제의 다제내성을 보였으며, 그 중 LM PM SD SF CP CH SM OT AP OA KM(22주, 21.4%) 및 LM PM SD SF CP CH SM OT AP OA(12주, 11.7%) 유형등이 고빈도로 출현하였다. 내성균의 내성인자 전달유형은 총 55형으로 단제에서 13제까지의 다양한 내성인자가 전달되었는데, 그 중 LM PM SD SF CP CH SM OT AP OA(10주. 10%), LM PM SD SF CP CH SM OT AP OA KM(7주, 7%) 및 LM PM SD SF CP CH AP OA(7주, 7%) 등의 다제내성유형이 고빈도의 전달률을 보였으며, 약재별로는 GM, EF 및 AK 등에는 저빈도(0~20%), OT, SM, KM 및 OA 등에는 중등도(49~62%), AP, PM, LM, SF, CP, CH 및 SD 등에는 고빈도(71~94%)로 내성인자를 전달하였다.
