Development of Vibration Index for the Objective Evaluations of Idle Vibration Quality in a Passenger Car (차량 아이들 감성진동 평가를 위한 진동평가지수의 연구)

  • Driver's feeling is variously affected by lots of components such as engine, frame, wheels, and seats during the operation of automobiles. The main objective of this research is to identify the correlation between subjective evaluation and vibration metrics that was set by ISO to investigate development of the car vibration quality index using multiple linear regressions (MLR). A previous research related with automotive vibration quality used the method of calculating acceleration values of the point of a seat, a seat back, foot as RMS for objective evaluation. The automotive comfort is determined by RMS values. In comparison with the previous research, this study includes not only the vibration metrics, but also subjective values by jury evaluation. By indentifying the correlation between subjective evaluation and vibration metrics, the automotive vibration quality index is developed through MLR. Based on the results of this study, the proposed the automotive vibration quality index which developed through MLR will be helpful to obtain objective and reliable automotive comfort values.

Effect of Change in Water Content and NCO Index on the Static Comfort of Polyurethane Seat Foam Pad for Automobiles (물 함량과 NCO Index 변화가 자동차용 폴리우레탄 시트 폼 패드의 정적 안락감에 미치는 영향 고찰)

  • In this study, we identified how the water content change in various NCO index affects the static comfort of polyurethane seat foam pad for automobiles. In order to identify factors that affect the static comfort, a static load test was performed using UTM to plot a hysteresis curve. The hardness of the foam when it was modified by 25, 65%, hysteresis loop area, hysteresis loss (%), and Sag factor were also obtained. By measuring the swelling ratio, it was confirmed that, as the water content increased in a fixed NCO index, the hardness and crosslinking density increased while the restoring force decreased due to the increase of urea bond. Also the Sag factor decreased due to the increase of surface hardness. As the NCO index increased in a fixed water content, the urethane and urea bond reacted more with isocyanate, leading to an increase in hardness and decrease in restoring force.

  • 과거 8년간의(1985-1992) 통계에 의하면 정면과 측면 충돌시 구속 시스텡의 하나인 Airbag장착 차량의 사망자 및 중상자 수가 현저히 감소하고 있는 것으로 나타나고있다. 그 러나 최근 소비자로 부터의 Airbag에 관한 불만을 보고 받고 있다. 즉 구속효과를 발휘함에 있어 부수적으로 인체 부상을 유발하고 있다는 것이다. 사망내지는 심각한 부상은 방지하고 있으나 경미한 부상은 오히려 증가하고 또한 신체가 적은 여성 운전자나 6세 이하의 어린이 에게는 심각한 부상의 우려가 있다는 것이다. 본 연구에서는 구속시스템의 총아인 Airbag 시스템의 심각한 부수적인 부상 보고를 입증하기 위하여 우리나라 어린이 6세 신체를 기준 으로하여 구속시스템을 착용하지 않았을 경우(실제로 많은 경우), seat belt만 착용시, Airbag만 작용시, 그리고 seat belt와 Airbag을 동시에 사용할 때를 컴퓨터 Simulation Package 이용 신체 dynamic을 모의실험 하였다. 실험결과, 기존에 알려진바와 같이 구속시스템을 사용하지 않았을 경우에 부상은 매우 컸다. 신체 사이즈가 작은 어린이 혹은 여성 운전자의 경우 Seat belt만을 사용한 경우는 Airbag만을 사용한 경우보다는 부상정도가 약간 경미하였으나 두 경우 모두 인체가 구속시스템의 구속 범위를 이탈하여 구속 시스템으로써의 역할을 충분히 하지 못하고 있었다. 특히 Seat belt와 Airbag을 동시에 사용하였을시에도 Airbag이 충분히 개선된 이후라도 신체 사이즈가 작은 경우에는 흉부부위에 의한 충격 흡수가 먼저 이루어지지 못하고, 머리에 먼저 Airbag이 접촉이 되어 충격 흡수 역할보다는 반동효과가 더 커서 머리 및 몸체가 뒤로 Rebound 하는 효과로 머리, 혹은 목의 신체 부상한계를 넘고 있어 큰 부상 내지는 사망에 이르고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 사료된다.의 결과는 자전거 에르고노미터의 결과가 트레드밀의 결과에 87.60%정도 나타났다.음을 관찰하였다. 특히 vitamin C와 E의 병용투여는 상승적으로 적용하여 간세포손상을 더욱 억제시킴을 알 수 있었다.mance and on TFP(Total Factor Productivity) growth which is a pure measure of firm performance.   • The pressure distribution between body and seat surface has been considered as one of the most important factors which affect seation comfort. The pattern of body pressure distribution has been an index of measuring comfort of an automobile seat. There has been numerous studies that measured the body pressure distribution. But, studies have many problems(pressure distortion, resolution, reliability, portability, usability, and shape fitness) in measuring the body pressure distribution. In this study, the new body pressure distribution measuring equipment has been developed by using the thin, flat, and polymer-film devices known as Force Sensing Resistors(FSRs) in order to solve those problems.

  • A comfort evaluation of car seat clothing has been proposed for high comforts interior seat clothing. Car seat covers have received wide spread attention due to their man-machine interface working. And then, it will be necessary for measurements on delicate basic mechanical-properties, which closely relate with human touch feeling of its materials. In this research, we have utilized $KES-FB^{(R)}$(Kawabata Evaluation System) series, $^ST300{(R)}$ analogue softness tester and friction tester for measurement a physical properties. In order to consider both kansei and physical properties on interior seat covers, we firstly have established subjective words of judgement for the seat covers. Secondly, related them to the objective measurement of physical properties. Each kansei-language has clearly defined as 'Softness', 'Elasticity', 'Volume' and 'Stickiness' for the adjectives of leather car seat covers. These technical terms have correlated to physical properties in other words, h (mm), bending moment ($gf^*$cm/cm), To-Tm (mm) and ${\mu}$. At this time, fuzzy logic has utilized to predict the value of kansei language through physical values. On the basis of this result, finally it is possible to predict quality index of car seat covers using neural networks technique. In short, we develop a quality evaluation system of car seat clothing combining four physical quantities with kansei engineering.

  • In this study, through the roadside interview, drivers'feeling about fatigue has been evaluated synthetically and systematically when they drive a vehicle according to their sex, vehicle type, driving career, etc. Also, with the human sensibility evaluation technique, we grasped the human sensibility structure for the fatigue in a vehicle and as an objective evaluation index for comfort and fatigue in a vehicle, we developed a sensibility database. Through the survey and research, extracting and understanding the importance of factors which have influence on the fatigue in driving can be used as basic data that can suggest more comfort and pleasant driving environment to drivers. Also, human sensibility database regarding to the comfort and fatigue in a vehicle can be used as basic data in ergonomic vehicle design, evaluation for seat , comfort seat development, development of vibration reduction method and so on.

  • Due to the damage which is caused by with the smoke, in the analysis statistics of a fire accident smoke is becoming the important evaluation index of fire quality. We must follow the procedures to use interior material for railway car as stated the Safety regulation for the urban railway car. In this study, we compared the Smoke Density of the train seat by test between Cone-Calorimeter and Smoke Density-Chamber. The results showed that the smoke density by test between Cone-Calorimeter and Smoke Density-Chamber is visible a similar tendency.

A Study on a Human Sensibility Evaluation Technique of EEG using Personality-group Templates (성격 그룹의 템플릿을 이용한 뇌파의 감성평가 기술에 관한 연구)

  • This paper describes a technique for human sensibility evaluation using personality-group templates of EEG(electroencephalogram). 10-channel EEGs of 5 extroverts and 5 introverts are collected in comfortable seat, uncomfortable seat and relaxed state. After preprocessing of EEG, the linear predictor coefficients are extracted and used as feature parameters. A neural network based sensibility classifier is designed and the output of the neural network is assumed as the sensibility index. Multiple templates of two personality-groups are stored and the most similar template can be selected by the proposed method. The proposed method showed the better performance than our previous results which have used ungrouped templates.

  • One of the widely accepted methods for evaluating the interior sound quality of automobiles is Articulation Index(AI). The AI actually measures the articulation level of the sound in the vehicle cabin as passengers talk to one another. In this study, the effect of two different absorption materials inside the cabin on AI has been investigated by ray-tracing method : one is firewall, the other is celling. It turns out that the back seat location is found to be strongly dependent on the type of absorption materials treated at the celling, since the sound absorbing area is different due to the location and the firewall is situated in the "Reverberation Radius". The proposed methdo could be used to improve the sound quality of automobiles at the design stge.sign stge.

  • Even though the blood pressure is one of the most widely used index for the healthcare monitoring of hypertensive and normotensive persons, there is no non-intrusive measurement method which is commercialized until now. Pulse Arrival Time (PAT) is known that it has close relation with the systolic blood pressure (SBP) and arterial stiffness. In this study, SBP estimation methods by non-intrusive measurement of PAT are suggested. For the unconstrained measurement of PAT, the first method used the electrically non contact electrocardiogram (ENC-ECG) technique and the reflective type of Photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor on the computer mouse. In the second method, ENC-ECG and the air pressure sensor in the seat cushion on a chair were measured. The third method used ECG electrodes and PPG sensors on the toilet seat cover. The validation and regression analysis of the relationship of PAT and SBP are summarized. These methods have considerable errors to be used for all people. But these can be applied for each subject after the parameter customization within acceptable error. So, it is feasible for suggested methods to be used for monitoring of SBP in daily life in non-intrusive way when there is personal identification system of each subject.
