Background: Surfactant-containing water sprays are commonly used in coal mines to collect dust. This study investigates the dust collection performance of different surfactant types for a range of coal dust particle sizes and charges. Methods: Bituminous coal dust aerosol was generated in a wind tunnel. The charge of the aerosol was either left unaltered, charge-neutralized with a neutralizer, or positively- or negatively-charged using a diffusion charger after the particles were neutralized. An anionic, cationic, or nonionic surfactant spray or a plain water spray was used to remove the particles from the air flow. Some particles were captured while passing through spray section, whereas remaining particles were charge-separated using an electrostatic classifier. Particle size and concentration of the charge-separated particles were measured using an aerodynamic particle sizer. Measurements were made with the spray on and off to calculate overall collection efficiencies (integrated across all charge levels) and efficiencies of particles with specific charge levels. Results: The diameter of the tested coal dust aerosol was $0.89{\mu}m{\pm}1.45$ [geometric $mean{\pm}geometric$ standard deviations (SD)]. Respirable particle mass was collected with $75.5{\pm}5.9%$ ($mean{\pm}SD$) efficiency overall. Collection efficiency was correlated with particle size. Surfactant type significantly impacted collection efficiency: charged particle collection by nonionic surfactant sprays was greater than or equal to collection by other sprays, especially for weakly-charged aerosols. Particle charge strength was significantly correlated with collection efficiency. Conclusion: Surfactant type affects charged particle spray collection efficiency. Nonionic surfactant sprays performed well in coal dust capture in many of the tested conditions.

Mineral-induced alkaline-reduced water (MRW) is generated by the chemical reaction of water with alkaline earth metals and characterized by high pH and low oxidation-reduction potential. As ROS are believed to have a role in the pathogenesis of obesity, we attempted to determine the effect of MRW on obesity in Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats fed on a high-fat diet. The body weight of the MRW group was significantly lower than that of the control group in most periods of the examination (P<0.05). Serum level of triglycerides (p<0.05) and fat deposition in the livers of the MRW group were found to have been significantly reduced. This suggests that MRW down-regulates lipid metabolism, thereby suppressing obesity. Possible mechanisms of MRW related to reactive oxygen species were also discussed. Our results suggest that MRW is effective in the alleviation of obesity in SD rats fed on high-fat diet.

The paper describes the scleral diagnostic system implementation for human eyes by using the scleral color code and vessels sign pattern code generations. The system is based on the high performance DSP image signal processor, programmable gain control for preprocessing and RISC SD frames storage. RGB image signals are optimized by PGC, the edge image is detected form the gray image converted. The processing algorithms are executed by scleral color code generation and scleral vessels sign pattern code creation for discriminating and matching. The scleral symptomatic color code is generated by YCbCr values at memory map tolerated and the vessel sign pattern code is created by digitizing the 24 clock and 13 ring zones, overlay matching and tolerances. The experimental results for performance are that the system runs 40ms, and the color and pattern for diagnostic errors are around 20% and 24% on average. The system and technique enable a scleral diagnosis with subdividing the patterns and patient database.

Although many research efforts have been conducted to address the effect of crew members' work skills (e.g., technical and planning skills) on work performance (e.g., work duration and quality) in construction projects, the relationship between skill and performance has generated a great deal of controversy in the field of management (Inkpen and Crossan 1995). This controversy can lead to under- or over-estimations of the overall project schedule, and can make it difficult for project managers to implement appropriate managerial policies for enhancing project performance. To address this issue, the following aspects need to be considered: (a) work performances are determined not only by individual-level work skill but also by the group-level work skill affected by work team members, each member's role, and any working behavior pattern; (b) work planning has significant effects on to what extent work skill enhances performance; and (c) different types of activities in construction require different types of work, skill, and team composition. This research, therefore, develops a system dynamics (SD) model to analyze the effects of both individual-and group-level (i.e., multi-level) skill on performances by utilizing the advantages of SD in capturing a feedback process and state changes, especially in human factors (e.g., attitude, ability, and behavior). The model incorporates: (a) a multi-level skill evolution and relevant behavior development mechanism within a work group; (b) the interaction among work planning, a crew's skill-learning, skill manifestation, and performances; and (c) the different work characteristics of each activity. This model can be utilized to implement appropriate work planning (e.g., work scope and work schedule) and crew management policies (e.g., work team composition and decision of each worker's role) with an awareness of crew's skill and work performance. Understanding the different characteristics of each activity can also support project managers in applying strategic work planning and crew management for a corresponding activity, which may enhance each activity's performance, as well as the overall project performance.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the heat generation in bone in vitro during the guided flapless drilling procedure and the effect of drilling methods on the heat generation. Materials and methods: A model that has missing the first and second mandibular molars bilaterally was used. In group A, classical flap implant surgery was performed. In group B, flapless implant surgery using surgical guide was performed. In group C, flapless implant surgery using surgical guide without up-and-down pumping motion was performed. Temperature was measured with k-type thermocouple and a real-time digital thermometer. The thermocouples were placed at 0.5 mm away from the osteotomy area at the depths of 3 mm and 6 mm. The measured values were evaluated with independent t-test. Results: The mean temperature generated was $27.2^{\circ}C$ ($SD{\pm}2.1^{\circ}C$) and $27.5^{\circ}C$ ($SD{\pm}2.3^{\circ}C$) for groups A and B, respectively. These differences were not statistically significant. In group C, the mean temperature was $37.0^{\circ}C$ ($SD{\pm}3.4^{\circ}C$). There were statistically significant differences between groups B and C with respect to the mean temperature. Conclusion: These findings suggest that guided flapless drilling with up-and-down pumping motion may not significantly increase the bone temperature.
Quantification of roughness plays an important role in modeling strength deformability and fluid flow behaviors of rock joints. A procedure was suggested to simulate joint roughness, and characteristics of the roughness was investigated in this study. Stationary fractional Brownian profiles with known input values of the fractal parameter and other profile properties were generated based on random midpoint displacement method. Also, a procedure to simulate three dimensional roughness surface was suggested using the random midpoint displacement method. Selected statistical roughness parameters were calculated for the generated self-affine profiles to investigate the attribute of roughness. Obtained results show that statistical parameters applied in this study were able to consider correlation structure and amplitude of the profiles. However, effect of data density should be tackled to use statistical parameters for roughness quantification.

Due to the scaling of process parameters, the density on chips has been increasing. This trend increases not only the temperature on chips but also the gradient of the temperature depending on distances. In this paper, we propose the balanced skew tree generation technique for minimizing the clock skew that is affected by the temperature gradients on chips. We calculate the interconnect delay using Elmore delay equation, and find out the optimal balanced clock tree by modifying the clock trees that are generated through the DME(Deferred Merge Embedding) algorithm. We have implemented the proposed technique using C language for the performance evaluation. The experimental results show that the clock insertion point generated by the temperature gradient can be lowered below 54% and we confirm that the skew is remarkably decreased after applying the proposed technique.

In this paper the proposed transactor is customized and a generator which roles of automatically generating the transactor according to DUT(Design Under Test)'s input and output is implemented. The customized transactor is designed by rearranging the signals of depending on DUT and transactor protocol which consists of signals of the PCI interface between host computer and FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array). The implemented automatic generator of transactor generates a Verilog code of transactor by adding DUT's information about input and output ports. Performance and normal working of the generated transactor has been verified by experiments with some verified hardware IPs. Also, an efficiency of the transactor has been verified by comparing with user's manually designed transactor and generated transactor. Moreover, the generator's flexibility has been verified for DUT's information of variable input and output. In case of using the implemented generator, a design time of transactor is reduced.

As cross-coupling capacitance generated in transmission line has been an important issue in VLSI world, a couple of ATPG algorithms has been proposed. However they were studied only for a simple single-line effect problem, so it cost so much time for an unsatisfying test generation efficiency. In this paper, we studied a noise model for multiple affected lines and generated test patterns in a short time. This paper proposes a crosstalk model affected by multiple tranmission lines and implemented an ATPG algorithm for detection of crosstalk noise faults. We modeled the crosstalk noise by multiple transmission line and made a truth table for this. We implemented an ATPG algorithm based on PODEM and revealed the results.
PCR analysis generated on the genetic data showed that the geographic hairtail (Trichiurus lepturus) population from Korea in the Yellow Sea was more or less separated from geographic hairtail population from China in the South Sea. The average bandsharing value ($mean{\pm}SD$) within hairtail population from Korea showed $0.859{\pm}0.031$, whereas $0.752{\pm}0.039$ within population from China. Also, bandsharing values between two hairtail populations ranged from 0.470 to 0.611, with an average of $0.542{\pm}0.059$. As compared separately, the bandsharing values of individuals within hairtail population from Korea were comparatively higher than those of individuals within population from China. The hierarchical dendrogram resulted from reliable oligonucleotides primers, indicating two genetic clusters composed of cluster 1 (KOREANHAIR1~KOREANHAIR11) and cluster 2 (CHINESEHAI12~CHINESEHAI22). The genetic distances between two geographic populations ranged from 0.038 to 0.476. Individual No. 11 within hairtail population from Korea was genetically closely related with No. 10 (genetic distance=0.038). The longest genetic distance (0.476) displaying significant molecular difference was also between individual No. 01 within hairtail population from Korea and No. 22 from Chinese. In the present study, PCR analysis has revealed significant genetic distances between two hairtail population pairs (P<0.05).
