In supply chain management, coordination between a manufacture and suppliers Is regarded as the most important issue when partnership of organizations of considered. This paper Introduces the current status of SCM in terms of physical systems, relation with other solution systems as well as the general history and definitions of SCM. Researches are categorized into deterministic, stochastic, and several future research areas are discussed in the paper.
The purpose of this paper is to propose the modeling of multiagent based SCM and implement the prototype in the Internet environment. SCM process follows the supply chain operations reference (SCOR) model which has been suggested by Supply Chain Counsil. SCOR model has been positioned to become the industry standard for describing and improving operational process in SCM. Five basic processes, plan, source, matte, deliver and return are defined in the SCOR model, through which a company establishes its supply chain competitive objectives. A supply chain is a world wide network of suppliers, factories, warehouses, distribution centers and retailers through which raw materials are acquired, transformed or manufactured and delivered to customers by autonomous or semiautonomous process. With the pressure from the higher standard of customer compliance, a frequent model change, product complexity and globalization, the combination of supply chain process with an advanced infrastructure in terms of multiagent systems have been highly required. Since SCM is fundamentally concerned with coherence among multiple decision makers, a multiagent framework based on explicit communication between constituent agents such as suppliers, manufacturers, and distributors is a natural choice. Multiagent framework is defined to perform different activities within a supply chain. Dynamic and changing functions of supply chain can be dealt with multi-agent by cooperating with other agents. In the areas of inventory management, remote diagnostics, communications with field workers, order fulfillment including tracking and monitoring, stock visibility, real-time shop floor data collection, asset tracking and warehousing, customer-centric supply chain can be applied and implemented utilizing multiagent. In this paper, for the order processing event between the buyer and seller relationship, multiagent were defined corresponding to the SCOR process. A prototype system was developed and implemented on the actual TCP/IP environment for the purchase order processing event. The implementation result assures that multiagent based SCM enhances the speed, visibility, proactiveness and responsiveness of activities in the supply chain.
SCM(Supply Chain Management) is one of the important issues in internet-based business environment. This study intends to suggest a research model to investigate the influence of environmental, organizational, technical factors on successful SCM system implementation. The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of the organizational characteristics of SCM adoption on successful implementation of SCM systems, including the moderating effects of competitiveness. 122 companies data were collected by survey. The results of hypothesis testing showed that project management is the most important determinants to influence successful SCM system implementation. In addition to that, top management support, IS maturity have positive influence to successful implementation of SCM systems in direct effect model. Also, the results of hypothesis testing in moderating effect model show that competitiveness has a positive impact to successful implementation of SCM systems.
This study suggests a model to identify relationships between Supply Chain Partnership(SCP) and the performance of Supply Chain Management(SCM) based on apparel companies and outsourcing suppliers of finished products that are in a position of getting into Supply Chain Level on apparel industry. This research model is based on an integrated model including a relationship between relationship formation factors and partnership strengthening factors in SCP; and supply chain performance a result of that relationship. The formation factors of SCP affect emotional elements(trust, commitment) of strengthening factors, and they, in turn, impact the performance of a supply chain through behavioral elements(collaboration, information sharing)16 hypotheses were formulated to research the degree of impact of SCP on supply chain performance. Theoretical and empirical research was executed in parallel to achieve the objectives of this study. Empirical research involved a research methodology using surveys. Survey target audiences were limited to designers and merchandisers over five years of experience with apparel companies and outsourcing suppliers for finished products operating mainly in Korea. SPSS 12.0 for Windows and AMOS 5.0 were used for data and statistical analysis. Reviewing the result of research model and identification of each hypothesis, total 11 from 16 hypotheses set by this research were selected, 5 hypotheses were dropped, and 4 meaningful paths were added.
Various techniques of business innovation such as MRP, ERP have been introduced, which has offered many advantages to the foodservice industry. However, these techniques optimized only a part not for the whole supply chain. For overcoming this problem, companies introduced SCM(Supply Chain Management). Since SCM research for restaurant business hasn't been widely studied, this research focuses on the relation between purchasers and suppliers in the domestic restaurant business. It divided the types of purchaser-supplier relationships in the foodservice industry and studied the influences that partnership factors have for the results. The SCM achievement was divided into asset management, job efficiency and customer satisfaction sharing, reliance/cooperation, professional technology and relation concentration. Under these factors, it looked into the difference that partnership affects SCM achievement. It made it easy to understand the importance by practically analyzing the relation of partnership factors extracted by SCM achievement and investigation suggested by the previous researches. It was found that the partnership factors such as extracted information sharing, reliance/cooperation, professional technology, and relation concentration positively affect the SCM achievement such as asset management, job efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Purpose - This paper investigates the relations among exploratory and exploitative supply chain management practices, competitive advantage, and firm performance. Design/methodology/approach - This study takes a hypothesis-generating study to capture the tradeoffs between exploration and exploitation and develops some hypotheses which involve the relations among SCM practices, competitive advantage, and short-term and long-term performance. Findings - Exploitative SCM practices have more positive effects on short-term performance rather than long-term performance, whereas exploratory SCM activities affect long-term performance. Further competitive strategy, environmental dynamism, and organizational slack moderates the relationship between SCM and performance. Exploitative SCM is more desirable when a firm uses low cost strategy, lacks slack resources, and faces stable environment, while exploratory SCM is more effective when a firm employs differentiation strategy, has slack resources, and confront dynamic environment. Research implications or Originality - In order to understand the performance effects of a variety of SCM practices, we should distinguish between exploitative and exploratory SCM activities. Further the relationship between SCM and performance may differ depending upon some contingent variables such as external environment, competitive strategy and organizational slack.
We aim to explain the role of corporate's 'long-term orientation' and 'asset specificity' in the process of SCM(Supply Chain Management) practices' effect on SCM performances, with empirical study about 167 manufacturing companies ail over the country. With confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation model using AMOS program, we conclude long-term orientation and asset specificity act as 'infra-structural role', rather than 'Intermediate role', in the process of SCM practice's effect on SCM performances.
