Kinematic Synthesis and Analysis of RSS-SC Suspension System Using Acceptable Tolerances of Motion (운동의 허용공차를 이용한 RSSS-SC 현장장치의 기구학적 설계)

  • In synthesizing and RSSS-SC mechanism that is the kinematic model of the McPherson strut suspension system in automobiles, the design equations for R-S, S-S and S-C dyads should be solved separately for a given set of prescribed positions. The number of prescribed positions that the RSSS-SC mechanism can be synthesized is up to three because of the S-C dyad. This limitation may cause unsatisfactory results in synthesized joint positions. This paper presents a kinematic synthesis method to place the joints of an RSSS-SC mechanism in desired boundaries by varying the prescribed positions of the mechanism within acceptable tolerances. The sensitivity analysis of the joint positions is used determine which displacement parameter should be altered to fulfill this task.

  • The molecular structures of 2-SC₄H₃CH=NN(H)C/sub 6/H/sub 5/(C/sub 11/H/sub 10/N₂S) and (GaMe₂)₂(2-SC₄H₃CH=NNC/sub 6/H/sub 5/)₂(C/sub 26/H/sub 30/Ga₂N₄S₂) have been determined by X-ray diffraction. Drought Analysis using SC-PDSI and Derivation of Drought Severity-Duration-Frequency Curves in North Korea (SC-PDSI를 이용한 북한지역 가뭄분석 및 가뭄심도-지속기간-생기빈도 곡선의 유도)

  • In this study, drought of North Korea are analyzed using drought index. 27 weather stations are selected and monthly precipitation and average temperature data are collected for drought analysis. SC-PDSI is used for drought analysis and calculated using collected weather data during 1984~2013 (30 years) in 27 weather stations. From the analysis result of historical drought event using drought index, it is confirmed that severe droughts occurred in the early and mid 2000's at most stations. Secondly, drought frequency analysis was carried out for the derivation of drought severity-duration-frequency (SDF) curves to enable quantitative evaluations of past historical droughts having been occurred in 6 stations (Pyeongyang, Hamheung, Cheongjin, Wonsan, Haeju, Sinuiju). This study can suggest return periods for historical major drought events by using derived SDF curves for each station. In the result, drought events in the early and mid 2000's had return periods of 20~50 years.

Student Research Programs in U.S. Medical Schools and Institutions (미국 의학교육기관의 학생연구 프로그램)

  • The majority of medical educators agree that scientific education is critical to the development of physician-scientists. However, the proportion of physicians interested or engaged in research has been decreasing. To overcome this deficit of research oriented physicians, many medical schools in the United States have introduced scholarly concentration (SC) programs into their medical curricula since 2000. In contrast, Korea has very few medical schools with such programs. Research programs at American medical schools were surveyed and investigated in order to better design and develop SC programs appropriate for Korean medical schools. Information on SC programs was gathered by reviewing medical school web sites and related articles. The SC programs of Brown Alpert Medical School, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Duke University School of Medicine, and Stanford University School of Medicine are discussed in depth. The characteristics of each program were organized into seven parts: program description, administrative structure, orientation, curricular content, mentors and mentoring, student evaluation, and challenges. For a successful SC program in Korea we must consider providing guaranteed time for SC programs with necessary modifications in the core medical curriculum, educating and training of mentors, providing orientation and motivating students to pursue research, developing curricula for SC programs, and evaluating the progress of SC projects.

Web-based SpecCharts Specification Environment for HW/SW Codesign (HW/SW 통합설계를 위한 웹 기반의 SpecCharts 기술 환경)

  • In this paper, we propose a Web-based HW/SW Codesign Environment with Distributed Architecture (WebCEDA), then design and implement SpecCharts Specification Environment(ScSE) for specifying systems in WebCEDA. WebCEDA has 3-tier client/server architecture than can remedy disadvantages of existing codesign tools, such as platform dependency, difficulty of extension, absence of collaboraton environment. ScSE includes web interface, SpecCharts editor, HW/SW codesin application sever and SpecCharts translator. To verify the operation of ScSE, we specify several example system using SpecCharts editor, then translate it to VHDL using SpecCharts translator and simulate the translated VHDL codes on synopsys. As the results, we know that ScSE has correct operations, also obtain the following advantages, the reduction in system complexity and the natural abstract design.

  • ISO TC 108/SC 2 산하에 이미 제정된 24 개의 관련 규격이 있으며, 그 중에 현재 4 개의 규격이 개정 심의 중에 있다. 본 논문에서는 FDIS(Final Draft International Standard) 개정 단계에 있는 육상용 증기 터빈 발전기 세트의 회전축 진동 및 비회전부 진동에 관련한 두 규격(ISO 7919-2:1996, ISO 10816-2:1996) 과 2000년 12월 15일자로 개정 완료된 선박 거주구역 및 작업구역의 진동에 관한 규격(ISO 6954:2000)을 개정 전 규격과 비교 설명 하고자 한다.
