  • In this study, we figured out that music modes and item types could affect people's urged decision making through a k-value which results from a delay discounting's hyperbolic function. Generally, high k-value is related to impulsive decision making. Concretely, there was a significant interaction between items and music. For the luxury item, the k-value was higher while listening to major music than minor. However, for the non-luxury item condition the k-value difference was not significant between two pieces of music. Moreover, we expected mood could be manipulated after listening to the music and mediate a difference of tendency. We used first movement as an allegro and second as an andante of Mozart piano concerto No.5 D-major and No.20 D-minor for stimuli. As a result, mode and tempo's main effects were not significant. Nevertheless, there was a significant two-way interaction. To put it concretely, the k-value of major condition was marginally higher than minor condition on allegro. However, the k-value of major condition was significantly lower than minor condition on andante. Also, depressed degree difference was significant but it was not significant as a mediator. Set depressed degree as a predict variable and future time span as a mediator, further research found future time perception partially mediated the effect that depressed degree affects impulsivity.

  • When the nomal silkworms reached active time of 3rd instar stage both non-moulting larva and normal silkworms from the same rearing tray were collected and fixed. The silkworms in 4th instar stage whose growth was as dwarfish as those in 1st and 2nd instar stages were also collected and fix with the normal silkworms. Non-moulting larva and normal silkworms were morphologically compared and the examined results from the tissue inspection are summarized as follows: 1. In spite of the fact that the normal silkworms reached the active eating time of 3rd instar stage non-moulting silkworms were dwarfish as if they had been reared for two days. Non-moulting silkworms which were observed at the time of 4th instar stage showed no much difference in their growth. 2. There was the tendency that the exuvial gland as was shown in Fig. 1 and 2 was flat cyslidium of ellipse and its size at thorax was small shile the gland at abdomen was big. 3. The exuvial gland at thorax has been reported to be bigger at thoracic base than at dorsal vessel but according to the present it was examined to be irregular. 4. The size of exuvial gland of silkworms in the active eating stage of 3rd instar was from 151.3${\mu}$ (major axis) to 94.5${\mu}$ (minor axis) at prothorax and from 568.6${\mu}$ (major axis) to 495.1${\mu}$ (minor axis) at 7th abdominal segment. The sire oe exuvial gland of non-moulting silkworm was 57.5${\mu}$ (major axis) to 51.3${\mu}$ (minor axis) at prothorax and from 91.5${\mu}$ (major axis) to 75.5${\mu}$ (minor axis) at 5th abdominal segment (see Fig. 1) 5. When the normal silkworms reached 4th instar active eating stage its exuvial gland was compared to that of dwarfish silkworm. The result was that the size of normal silkworm at prothorax was from 252.2${\mu}$ (major axis) to 131.6${\mu}$ (minor axis) and the size of exuvial gland at 7th abdominal segment was from 691.5${\mu}$ (major axis) to 493.4${\mu}$ (minor axis) while the sire of exuvial gland of non-moulting at prothorax was from 71.4${\mu}$ (major axis) to 61.5${\mu}$ (minor axis) and the size of the non-moulting silkworm's 8th abdominal segment was from 94.6${\mu}$ (major axis) to 71.5${\mu}$ (minor axis) (See Table 2) 6. There was a remarkable difference in the from of exuvial gland of non-moulting silkworm. The size of alveolar of the non-moulting silkworm was many times larger compared to that of normal silkworm 7. There was no great difference between secretory cells of normal and non-moulting silkworms but the granular type exuvial gland was small in sire compared to that of normal silkworm.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of nursing education using a CD ROM on the anxiety and knowledge of the patients having minor surgery. Method: Forty patients hospitalized in K hospital in Seoul from April to August 2002 participated in this study. In the experimental group, twenty patients received nursing education on the operational procedures and post-operational care. The control group, received conventional nursing care only. Anxiety experienced by patients was measured by Spielberger's State-Trait Anxiety Inventory, and knowledge was measured by an instrument developed by Rahe et al. The data were analyzed by SPSS statistical program. Result: There were no significant differences in anxiety level between two groups. However, subjects in the experimental group were found to have significantly higher postoperative knowledge levels than those in the control group, and were very satisfied with the CD ROM program. Conclusion: The nursing education program using CD ROM before minor surgery proved to be an effective nursing intervention to increase knowledge of patients and contribute to their self care after discharge. To decrease anxiety of the surgery, the nursing education program should be combined with supprortive emotional nursing intervention, such as touch, and massage.

  • The present study was designed to find out the construction conditions of tight skirt for sale in relation to its brand, target age and length. The 15 tight skirts each from 3 brand groups(designer character, national and minor brand) of 2 target age groups(youth and middle age) and the 15 tight skirts each from 3 skirt length groups(mini, natural line and maxi) of only the minor brand-a total of the 120 tight skirts on the market-were measured. The data were analyzed with use of SAS package. The statistics were based on frequency, percentage, average, standard deviation, one-way ANOVA, two-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation and linear regression analysis. The main results were as follows. 1. There were significant differences in the construction conditions of tight skirt according to its brand and target age. There was a significant difference particurarly in the difference between hip girth and hem girth according to brand target age. The difference between hip girth and hem girth of designer's character brand skirt was larger than that of national brand & minor brand skirt, and that of skirt targeting the youth was larger than that of skirt targeting the middle aged. 2. There were significant difference particurarly in the differences in the construction conditions of tight skirt according to its length. There was a significant difference particurarly in the difference between hip girth and he girth according to skirt length, and that of maxi skirt was larger than that of mini & natural line skirt. There was a good correlation between skirt length and slit length and between skirt length and skirt length above the slit. The longer the skirt length was, the longer the slit length and the skirt length above the slit were.

  • The pesticide and carcinogen ethylene dibromide(EDB) is metabolized both by cytosolic GSH S-transferase and by microsomal mixed function oxygenase. Cytochrome P-450 IIE1 appears to be major enzyme to metabolize EDB.EDB is activated to a mutagen by enzymatic conjugation with glutathione (GSH). Such activation is an exception to the general mode of detoxification via GSH S-transferase action. The primary DNA adduct (>95) is S-[2-(N7-guanyl)ethyl] GSH and a minor adduct is S-[2-(N7-guanyl)ethyl]cysteine, which is excreted in the urine and may serve as a biomarker of damage.

  • Segmental retaining wall market in Korea has been growing dramatically since late 1990s in both engineered and non-engineered applications. Despite the inherent conservatism in the current design approaches, numerous major and minor structural problems have been reported during and after construction, covering a range of minor structural damage to total collapse. Much still needs to be investigated to fill the gap between the theory and the practice. This paper reviews several design issues with regard to the segmental retaining walls such as the selection of shear strength parameters for backfill soil, local stability, and tiered wall construction. In addition, the effects of shear strength parameters and the fundamental behavior of tiered SRWs are examined based on the results of finite element analysis. Implications of the findings from this study to current design practices were discussed in detail.

  • Necrotizing sialometaplasia (NS) which mimics malignancy both clinically and histopathologically is an uncommon benign, self-limiting inflammatory disease of the mucus-secreting minor salivary glands. The lesion is believed to be the result of vascular ischemia that may be initiated by trauma. Till date, the diagnosis of NS remains a challenge. This report demonstrates a case of NS in a 73-year-old male patient who presented with an ulcerative lesion in his palate. He had a history of local trauma and was long-term user of salbutamol inhaler. An incisional biopsy was carried out and the diagnosis was established through history, clinical examination, histopathology using Hematoxylin and Eosin stain. The patient was given symptomatic treatment and the lesion healed in about 7 weeks.

  • Recently developed technique of measuring minor species concentration by using the modulation dip in broadband CARS has been applied to the flame structure study of methane/air premixed flames in a counterflow. This method used the modulation dip from the cold band CO Q-branch resonant signal superimposed on the nonresonant background. The measured CO concentration profile in a symmetric and unsymmetric methane/air premixed flames together with the velocity and temperature by using LDV and CARS have been compared with the numerical results adopting detailed chemistry modeling. The results show that there is a satisfactory agreement between the experimental data and numerical results for velocities, temperatures and CO concentrations. And the modulation dip technique of measuring minor species, such as CO is a viable tool for a quantitative measurement in a flame.

  • The purpose of this paper is to obtain design method of air-distribution system. Air-distribution system is composed of blower, duct, diffusers and measuring equipment. The air-flow rate from each diffuser is not equal. The air-flow rate is calculated with the combined equations which are Bernoulli's equation, continuity equation and minor loss equations. Inlet condition and outlet condition are adapted in each duct system. Then square difference between function of maximum air-flow rate and minimum air-flow rate is used as an object function. Area of diffuser and velocity are established as constraints. To minimize the object function, the optimization method is used. After optimization the design variables are selected under satisfaction of constraints. The air-distribution system is calculated again with the result of optimized design variable. It is shown that the air-distribution system has the equal air-flow rate from diffusers.
