  • A guideway vehicle is used in automobile, semiconductor and LCD manufacturing industries to transport products efficiently. Since the operating speed of the guideway vehicle should be increased for maximum productivity, the weight of the vehicle has to be reduced. This may cause parts in the system to fail before the life of the system. Therefore estimation of the fatigue life of the parts becomes an important problem. In this study, the fatigue life of the driving wheel in the guideway vehicle is estimated using a S-N curve. To obtain the fatigue life of a part, the S-N curve, load time history applied on a driving wheel and material property are required. The S-N curve of the driving wheel is obtained using the fatigue experiment on wheels. Load time history of the wheel is obtained from multibody dynamics analysis. To obtain the material properties of the driving wheel, which is composed of aluminum with urethane coating, a compression hardware testing has been done with the static analysis of the FE model. The fatigue life prediction using computational analysis model guarantees the safety of the vehicle at the design stage of the product.

  • 피로시험은 구조설계에 있어서 필수적인 과정으로서, 구조물의 요구수명 만족여부를 판단하기 위해 수행된다. 본 연구에서는 750㎾급 수평축 풍력발전 시스템용 복합재 회전날개가 요구수명 20년이상 안전하게 운용되어질 수 있는지에 대한 검토를 수행하였다. tan Bond의 실험식과 S-N선형 손상 방법을 사용하여 요구 피로강도를 계산하였으며, 설계된 복합재 회전날개의 유한요소 해석 결과와 비교하기 위해 측정하중 스펙트럼과 Spera의 피로하중 실험식을 이용하여 회전날개에 적용시킬 피로하중을 계산하였다. 계산된 피로하중에 대한 유한요소 해석을 수행하여 검토한 결과, fan Bond의 실험식을 이용하여 예측한 최대 요구 피로강도보다 낮은 범위에 있음을 확인하였다.

작은 표면균열의 성장특성에 의한 수명예측 (A Fatigue Life Prediction by Growth Characteristics of a Small Surface Crack)

  • This paper deals with a fatigue life prediction of a surface crack based on the experimentally obtained relationship between surface crack length ratio $a/a_{f}$ and cycle ratio $N/N_{f}$ using micro computer. Firstly $a/a_{f}$-$N/N_{f}$ curves obtained from experimental tests, were assumed as three curves UC(the upper limit curve), LC(the lower limit curve) and MC(the middle curve), and these were utilized to predict the fatigue life. Comparing the calculated values which represent the characteristics of crack growth behaviors from the three assumed curves with the experimental ones, it has been found that in the stable crack growth region, they coincide reasonably well each other. And the differences between the fatigue lives obtained from the assumed curves and the experimental fatigue life did not exceed 20%. Using the characteristics of $a/a_{f}$-$N/N_{f}$ curves, it is possible to predict the da/dN-Kmax curves and the S-$N_{f}$ curves.

틸트 로터형 항공기의 플랩퍼론 연결부에 대한 크리깅 기반 피로해석 (Fatigue Analysis based on Kriging for Flaperon Joint of Tilt Rotor Type Aircraft)

  • 피로해석은 반복하중 하에서의 항공우주 구조물에 대한 구조적 파괴를 예방하기 위해 수행된다. 본 논문에서는 틸트로터형 무인 항공기에 대하여 피로수명에 대한 평가를 하였다. 먼저 틸트로터형 무인항공기의 기동에 맞는 하중 스펙트럼을 생성해 내었으며, F.C.L. 부품중 하나인 플랩퍼론 연결부위에 대하여 피로해석을 수행 하였다. 틸트로터형 무인항공기는 크게 두 가지 기동 형태로 나눌 수 있는데, 이 착륙시의 헬리콥터 형태와 순항시의 고정익 형태가 되겠다. 전체적인 피로하중 스펙트럼을 만들기 위해서 헬리콥터 형태에는 FELIX를, 고정익 형태에서는 TWIST를 사용하였다. 한편으로는, S-N 실험점이 해석에 사용될 때 재료수명의 전 영역에 대한 S-N 회귀식을 얻기 위하여 크리깅 메타 모델이 사용되었다. 그리고 최소 자승법을 이용한 이차 회귀식에 대한 S-N 커브 역시 생성하였다. 더욱이 이 커브들이 갖고 있는 정확도를 측정하기 위하여 결정 계수법을 사용하였다. 마지막으로는 플랩퍼론 연결 부위에 대한 피로수명 결과를 MSC. Fatigue와 비교하였다.

S35C강의 피로균열 발생 및 진전에 관한 연구 (The Research of Fatigue-Crack Initiation and Propagation for S35C Steel)

  • Surface crack growth characteristics and influence of the stress amplitude in rotary bending fatigue test were evaluated for annealed S35C steel, and than fractal dimensions of fatigue crack paths estimated using the box counting method. The following results that will be helpful to understand the fatigue crack growth mechanism were obtained. (1) Crack growth rate ds/dN and db/dN (s : half crack length at the surface crack, b : crack depth) depended on stress amplitude (${\Delta}{\sigma}/2$), stress intensity factor range (${\Delta}K_A, {\Delta}K_C$) and crack length. (2) At the effect area of 0.3 mm hole notch (s<0.5 mm) crack growth rate did not depend on these factors. (3) The fractal dimensions (D) increased with stress amplitude (${\Delta}{\sigma}/2$) but decreased with cyclic number.

  • 함정구조물은 함내 엔진 및 프로펠러 추진력의 환경진동에 노출되어 있다. 일반적으로 함상구조물은 함상진동규격인 MIL-STD-167-1A 에 따라 개발되고 있으며, 장기간 사용을 목적으로 하는 함상구조물의 진동에 대한 피로수명은 해석적 접근법과 진동실험을 통해 반드시 평가되야 한다. 본 논문에서는 함상구조재로 사용된 주조 알루미늄합금인 A356 의 피로강도를 14 S-N 법으로 평가하고, 구조물의 작용응력은 함상진동규격에 준하는 주파수응답해석을 통해 분석되었다. 최대등가응력의 주파수는 최대실험주파수에서 나타났으며, 함상장비의 진동피로수명은 누적손상법에 의해 평가되었다.

복합재료의 수리후 피로거동 고찰 (Study of Fatigue Behavior of Repaired Composites)

  • 복합재료내의 결함을 원공노치로 가정하고 노치의 크기에 따른 정하중 및 피로실험을 수행하였다. 원공이 존재하는 복합재료에 대하여 다양한 수리기법을 적용하여 정하중 실험을 수행하였다. 수리기법중에 precured double patched 방식과 cure-in-place 방식의 수리는 가장 우수한 결과를 보여 평활재의 약 60∼80%의 강도복구효과를 보였다. 우수한 결과기법을 나타낸 수리기법중에 보다 실제적인 방식이라고 사료되는 cure-in-place 방식으로 수리된 재료에 대하여 피로실험을 수행하였다. 수리된 재료는 정하중 및 피로의 경우에 있어서 향상된 결과를 보였으며 피로시 평활재의 거동을 나타낸다. 참고계수를 도입하여 회귀분석된 피로수명예측식(MFLPE's)은 수리된 시편에 비해 타 예측식에 비해 더 좋은 결과를 나타낸다.

Comparison of Fatigue Provisions in Various Codes and Standards -Part 1: Basic Design S-N Curves of Non-Tubular Steel Members

  • For the fatigue design of offshore structures, it is essential to understand and use the S-N curves specified in various industry standards and codes. This study compared the characteristics of the S-N curves for five major codes. The codes reviewed in this paper were DNV Classification Rules (DNV GL, 2016), ABS Classification Rules (ABS, 2003), British Standards (BSI, 2015), International Welding Association Standards (IIW, 2008), and European Standards (BSI, 2005). Types of stress, such as nominal stress, hot-spot stress, and effective notch stress, were analyzed according to the code. The basic shape of the S-N curve for each code was analyzed. A review of the survival probability of the basic design S-N curve for each code was performed. Finally, the impact on the conservatism of the design was analyzed by comparing the S-N curves of three grades D, E, and F by the five codes. The results presented in this paper are considered to be a good guideline for the fatigue design of offshore structures because the S-N curves of the five most-used codes were analyzed in depth.

軟鋼의 高溫 表面渡勞균열 成長擧動에 관한 硏究 (A Study on Propagation Behavior of Surface-Fatigue-Crack in the Mild Steel at Elevated Temperatures)

  • Fatigue tests by axial loading (R=0.1) were carried out to investigate fatigue crack growth properties of small surface cracks in mild steel at room temperature, 250.deg. C and 400.deg. C, by using flat specimens with a small artificial pit. All the data of the fatigue crack growth rate obtained in the present tests are determined as a function of the stress intensity factor range, so that the applicability of liner fracture mechanics to the fatigue crack growth of surface cracks at elevated temperatures is investigated and discussed in comparison with the data of type 304 stainless steel at room temperature and elevated temperature. The obtained results are as follows: 1) Relations of both surface fatigue crack length and its depth to cycle ratio fall within a narrow scatter band in spite of different stress levels. 2) The .DELTA. .sigma. .root. .pi. a-da/dN relation of surface fatigue crack growth at room temperature is independent of the stress level and can be plotted as a straight line at log-log diagram, but the relation at 400.deg. C depends partly on the stress level. 3) Relations of the fatigue crack growth into depth d(2b)/dN and is stress intensity factor range .DELTA. $K_{I}$, accounted for the aspect ratio variation, fall within a narrow scatter band for wide range of the applied stress levels. And .DELTA. $K_{I}$E-d(2b)/dN relations of mild steel at different stress level coincide relatively well with the data of type 304 stainless steel. 4) The value of aspect ratio obtained by a beach mark method and a temper coloring method approaches about 0.9 in common with crack growth and it is independent of stress level and temperatures. 5) The equi-crack length curve is parallel to S-N$_{f}$ curve at elevated temperatures.s.s.s.
