  • Nowadays, 60 percent of thermal power plants already have been operated over their own design life. These operations of old power plant over their design life have caused a fracture accident of degradation a loss of economic and human. Therefore, the new life assessment and prediction technology is necessary to improve the safety and reliability of high pressure and high temperature power plant facilities. In this paper, innovative electrochemical test method have been used and results have been compared to the conventional test. Finally, the electrochemical test is applied to the in-field HP turbine and a database is currently in progress for the development of the life assessment standard and procedure.

  • 자율주행차의 도입으로 인적 오류에 의한 교통사고가 크게 줄어드는 것과 같은 긍정적 파급효과를 기대할 수 있다. 그러나 자율주행차의 H/W 또는 S/W의 오류 및 기능 부족등으로 새로운 교통안전 이슈가 앞으로 발생할 것으로 예상됨에 따라 자율주행차의 주행 안전성을 평가하기 위한 현실적이고 체계적인 시나리오 구축이 필요하다. 이에 본 연구에서는 경찰청 교통사고 데이터를 바탕으로 자율주행차 주행 안전성을 평가하기 위한 상황 시나리오(functional scenario)를 개발하였다. GIS 프로그램인 QGIS를 활용하여 국내 고속도로 톨게이트 및 램프 구간에서 발생한 교통사고 데이터를 추출하고 교통사고 개요 항목을 확인한 후, 교통사고 유형을 분류하였다. 또한, 교통사고 유형 분류 결과를 바탕으로 톨게이트와 램프 구간의 다양한 위험 상황을 내용으로 하는 상황 시나리오를 개발하였다.

Estimating Benzene Exposure Level over Time and by Industry Type through a Review of Literature on Korea

  • The major purpose of this study is to construct a retrospective exposure assessment for benzene through a review of literature on Korea. Airborne benzene measurements reported in 34 articles were reviewed. A total of 15,729 individual measurements were compiled. Weighted arithmetic means [AM(w)] and their variance calculated across studies were summarized according to 5-year period intervals (prior to the 1970s through the 2010s) and industry type. Industries were classified according to Korea Standard Industrial Classification (KSIC) using information provided in the literature. We estimated quantitative retrospective exposure to benzene for each cell in the matrix through a combination of time and KSIC. Analysis of the AM(w) indicated reductions in exposure levels over time, regardless of industry, with mean levels prior to the 1980-1984 period of 50.4 ppm (n = 2,289), which dropped to 2.8 ppm (n = 305) in the 1990-1994 period, and to 0.1 ppm (n = 294) in the 1995-1999 period. There has been no improvement since the 2000s, when the AM(w) of 4.3 ppm (n = 6,211) for the 2005-2009 period and 4.5 ppm (n = 3,358) for the 2010-2013 period were estimated. A comparison by industry found no consistent patterns in the measurement results. Our estimated benzene measurements can be used to determine not only the possibility of retrospective exposure to benzene, but also to estimate the level of quantitative or semiquantitative retrospective exposure to benzene.

Computer vision and deep learning-based post-earthquake intelligent assessment of engineering structures: Technological status and challenges

  • Ever since ancient times, earthquakes have been a major threat to the civil infrastructures and the safety of human beings. The majority of casualties in earthquake disasters are caused by the damaged civil infrastructures but not by the earthquake itself. Therefore, the efficient and accurate post-earthquake assessment of the conditions of structural damage has been an urgent need for human society. Traditional ways for post-earthquake structural assessment rely heavily on field investigation by experienced experts, yet, it is inevitably subjective and inefficient. Structural response data are also applied to assess the damage; however, it requires mounted sensor networks in advance and it is not intuitional. As many types of damaged states of structures are visible, computer vision-based post-earthquake structural assessment has attracted great attention among the engineers and scholars. With the development of image acquisition sensors, computing resources and deep learning algorithms, deep learning-based post-earthquake structural assessment has gradually shown potential in dealing with image acquisition and processing tasks. This paper comprehensively reviews the state-of-the-art studies of deep learning-based post-earthquake structural assessment in recent years. The conventional way of image processing and machine learning-based structural assessment are presented briefly. The workflow of the methodology for computer vision and deep learning-based post-earthquake structural assessment was introduced. Then, applications of assessment for multiple civil infrastructures are presented in detail. Finally, the challenges of current studies are summarized for reference in future works to improve the efficiency, robustness and accuracy in this field.

열차제어시스템 소프트웨어 안전성 확인을 위한 코딩규칙 테스팅 자동화 도구의 개발 (Development of the Design & Coding Standard of Railway Signaling Software as a Automatic Testing Tool)

  • 최근의 컴퓨터 기술의 발달에 따라 열차제어시스템들이 컴퓨터 소프트웨어에 의존성이 더욱 증가되고 있으며, 이에 따라 이러한 열차제어시스템 소프트웨어의 안전성에 대한 테스팅이 더욱 중요하게 되었다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 열차제어시스템 소프트웨어를 위한 코딩규칙의 테스팅 자동화 도구의 적용을 제안하였으며, 코딩규칙 테스팅 자동화 도구의 구현 및 적용결과를 제시하였다. 구현 툴에서의 테스팅 항목은 철도시스템 소프트웨어 관련된 국제규격과 MISRA-C 기준을 참조하였다. 본 열차제어시스템 테스팅 자동화 도구는 열차제어시스템 소프트웨어 평가단계에서도 활용될 수 있고 또한 소프트웨어 개발단계에서도 유용하게 활용될 수 있을 것으로 예상된다.

  • It can be considered that the safety of software is combined with that of hardware, and also directly connected to system safety. Because the software in the railway system takes the form of Embedded that let it behave at the system level, instead of independent operation, the safety of the railway S/W is also important. The approach, for ensuring the quality and safety of those software, can be considered with two points of view. Those are views seeing from products, and from processes. The two points of approach are all necessary in the railway system. For the first of all, the process approach is to validate maturity of the organizations in accordance to the judging processes of organizations, which are specified by CMMI(Capability Maturity Model Integration) or SPICE(Software Process Improvement and Capability dEtermination: ISO/IECl5504). In this paper, as the first step of them, we are trying to find approaches to estimate the maturity of manufacturer and assessment organization in the railway system.

  • This paper presents the methods to acquire the Safety Certificate from Independent Safety Assessment based on the IEC standard62279 which is commonly applied to railway system for Automatic Train Control(ATC) system in accordance with Urban Maglev project. This also shows approach methods and relative activities for project life-cycle to accomplish and ensure the system requirements of ATC system, RAMS and S/W quality activities. Furthermore, the key tasks conducted with ISA are noted in detail. These kind of activities for software quality of ATC system to obtain Safety Certificate could be a CASE model to improve the quality of domestic railway system and products, and also contribute to the growth of railway business and toward the achievement of overseas' railway signaling markets.
