The photosynthetic rate (LPS)in the field was higher in the non-shading condition than in the shading. The fertilizer application was somewhat higher than non-fertilizer application. After humus application at 50% sading condition the growth and LPS increased with Ligularia fischeri. The maximum LPS at 80% shading was 22.3${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$mol/m/s with N-fertilizer application . Except Aster tataricus and Solidago virge-aurea. var. asiatic where the maximum LPS at non-shading and N-fertilizer application were 38.68 and 35.28${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$mol/m2/s. While the maximum LPS of Aster scaber was 30.01${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$mol/$m^2$/s at non-shading and non-fertilizer application. the growth rate was higher shading and fertilized conditions than non-shading and non-fertilized . The most effective shading condition was 50% , but leaf ration was highest in the 80% . But a. tataricus was favorable at non-shading and N-feritlized conditions.
Taguchi robust design is widely used to quality improve methods. Especially, interest of dynamic characteristics parameter design is getting grow. In this paper, we have a comparative analyzed three Signal-to-Noise Ratios which are used in American Supplier Institute(ASI), MINITAB and Taguchi series published by Japanese Standard Institute with numerical examples.

Three Holstein steers in the growing phase, each with a ruminal cannula, were used to test the hypothesis that the synchronization of the hourly rate of carbohydrate and nitrogen (N) released in the rumen would increase the amount of retained nitrogen for growth and thus improve the efficiency of microbial protein synthesis (EMPS). In Experiment 1, in situ degradability coefficients of carbohydrate and N in feeds including Korean rice wine residue (RWR) were determined. In Experiment 2, three total mixed ration (TMR) diets having different rates of carbohydrate and N release in the rumen were formulated using the in situ degradability of the feeds. All diets were made to contain similar contents of crude protein (CP) and neutral detergent fiber (NDF) but varied in their hourly pattern of nutrient release. The synchrony index of the three TMRs was 0.51 (LS), 0.77 (MS) and 0.95 (HS), respectively. The diets were fed at a restricted level (2% of the animal's body weight) in a $3{\times}3$ Latin-square design. Synchronizing the hourly supply of energy and N in the rumen did not significantly alter the digestibility of dry matter, organic matter, crude protein, NDF or acid detergent fiber (ADF) (p>0.05). The ruminal $NH_3$-N content of the LS group at three hours after feeding was significantly higher (p<0.05) than that of the other groups; however, the mean values of ruminal $NH_3$-N, pH and VFA concentration among the three groups were not significantly different (p>0.05). In addition, the purine derivative (PD) excretion in urine and microbial-N production (MN) among the three groups were not significantly different (p>0.05). In conclusion, synchronizing dietary energy and N supply to the rumen did not have a major effect on nutrient digestion or microbial protein synthesis (MPS) in Holstein steers.
Denitrification is one of the important processes of removing nitrate from in recirculating aquaculture systems. And this process is affected by many factors such as external organic carbon sources, hydraulic retention time (HRT), COD/NO3--N (C:N) ratio, etc. However, not many studies were done for the optimum conditions of denitrification in the recirculation system for aquaculture. Therefore, this study was conducted to find out the optimum removal condition of NO3--N using submerged denitrification biofilter. The combinations of two external organic carbon sources (glucose and methanol), two HRT (4 and 8-hour) and four differnent C : N ratios (3, 4, 5, 6) were tested. The removal efficiencies of NO3--N and total inorganic nitrogen (TIM) at 8-hour HRT were better than those at 4-hour's (P<0.05). The maximum removal efficiency of NO3--N by methanol (97.8%) was achieved at HRT and C : N ratio were 8-hour and 4.0 respectively. The efficiencies of methanol for the removal of NO3--N and TIN were always better than those of glucose (P<0.05). The maximum removal efficiencies of total inorgainc nitrogen (TIN) were gained at C : N ration of 5.0. The maximum removel efficiencies of TIN using methanol and glucose were 96.9% and 71.5% respectively. Anaerobic condition which is necessary for denitrification process was not made until the 8-hour HRT and higher C : N ratio (5.0). Removal of NO3--N at 4-hour HRT and C : N ration lower than 5.0 were inhibited by oxygen and/or low quantity of external organic carbon. Removal efficiencies of NO3--N were also inhibited by high C : N (6.0) ratio when HRT was 8-hour.
One of the problems of derivatie spectrophotometry, the decrease of signal-to-noise ratio by derivative operations, was solved by three concepts of digital filtering, ensemble averaging, least squares polynomial smoothing and Fourier smoothing. The suthors made several compouter programs written in APPLE SOFT BASIC language for the actual applications of the concepts of these digital filters on UV spectrophotometer system. As a result, ensemble averaging could not be used as a routine operation for the spectrophotometer used. The maximum S/N ratio enhancement factors achieved by least squares polynomial smoothing were 6.17 and 7.47 for the spectra of Gaussian and Lorentzian distribution models, and by Fourier smoothing 16.42 and 11.78 for the spectra of two models, respectively.

A reflection type 16x8 S-SEED array from LP(Low Pressure)-MODVD-grown GaAs/AlGaAs extremely shallow quantum well(ESQW) structures, with 4% Al fraction, has been fabricated. Its intrinsic region consists of 50 pairs of alternating 100.angs. GaAs and 100.angs. $Al_{0.04}$Ga$_{0.96}$As layers. A multilayer reflector stack of $Al_{0.04}$/Ga$_{0.96}$ As(599$\AA$)/AlAs(723$\AA$) was incorporated for the reflection plane below the p-i-n structures. The device processing after the MOCVD growth includes the mesa etching, isolation etching, insulator deposition, p & n metallization, and AR(Anti-Reflection) coating. For switching characteristics of the S-SEED in the form of p-i-n ESQW diode, the maximum optical negative resistance was observed at 856nm. Reflectance measurements showed a change from 15.6% to 43.3% for +0.9V to -6V bias. The maximum contrast ration of the S-SEED array was 2.0 and all the 128 devices showed optical bistability with contrast ratios over 2.4 at 5V reverse bias.
We investigated the effects of the predominant lactic acid bacteria (LAB) on the fermentation characteristics and aerobic stability of total mixed ration (TMR) silage containing soybean curd residue (SC-TMR silage). The SC-TMR materials were ensiled in laboratory silos for 14 or 56 days. LAB predominant in SC-TMR silage were identified (Exp. 1). Lactobacillus fermentum (L. fermentum) and Streptococcus bovis (S. bovis) were found in the untreated materials, Leuconostoc pseudomesenteroides (L. pseudomesenteroides) in 14-day silage and Lactobacillus plantarum (L. plantarum) in all silages. Pediococcus acidilactici (P. acidilactici), Lactobacillus paracasei (L. paracasei), and Lactobacillus brevis (L. brevis) formed more than 90% of the isolates in 56- day silage. Italian ryegrass and whole crop maize were inoculated with P. acidilactici and L. brevis isolates and the fermentation and aerobic stability determined (Exp. 2). Inoculation with P. acidilactici and L. brevis alone or combined improved the fermentation products in ryegrass silage and markedly enhanced its aerobic stability. In maize silage, P. acidilactici and L. brevis inoculation caused no changes and suppressed deterioration when combined with increases in acetic acid content. The results indicate that P. acidilactici and L. brevis may produce a synergistic effect to inhibit SC-TMR silage deterioration. Further studies are needed to identify the inhibitory substances, which may be useful for developing potential antifungal agents.

This study was conducted to investigate the effects of replacing whole crop corn silage (WCCS) with whole crop rice silage (WCRS) in the total mixed ration (TMR) on nutrient intake, milk yield and its composition in Holstein cows. The Chucheong rice variety (Oryza sativa L. Japonica) and corn (Pioneer 32 P75) were harvested at yellow-ripe stage and were ensiled in round bales and in trench silos, respectively. Two TMR containing either WCCS or WCRS were prepared. These diets were randomly assigned to 16 midlactating Holstein cows (8 cows per treatment) and were fed for 120 days. The first 20 days were used for dietary adaptation and for the next 100 days daily feed intake, milk yield and its composition were recorded. The pH, lactic acid, NDF, ADF, CP, Ca and P contents were similar in WCRS and WCCS. The DM, ash and EE contents of WCRS were greater compared with WCCS. Nutrient (DM, NDF, TDN and CP) intakes were similar in cows fed WCCS- and WCRS-based TMR. Daily and 4% fat corrected milk yield were not affected by the treatments. Milk composition (percent milk fat, protein, lactose and total solids) was similar in cows fed either WCCS- or WCRSbased TMR. The concentration of milk urea N was greater in cows fed WCRS-based TMR than those fed WCCS-based TMR. In conclusion, round-baled WCRS can replace WCCS in the diet of mid- to late-lactating Holsteins without any deleterious effects on feed consumption, milk yield and its composition. The present findings raise the possibility that WCRS can be used as an alternative roughage source in the diets of dairy cows in countries with surplus rice production.
Two experiments were carried out to investigate i) the effects of four levels of lactic acid bacteria inoculants (LAB; 0, $2{\times}10^5$, $3{\times}10^5$ and $4{\times}10^5$ cfu/g fresh forage) and two physical forms of rice straw (whole and chopped rice straw) on silage fermentation quality and nutritive value of rice straw (RS) silage for lactating Holsteins and ii) the effects of the replacement of corn silage (CS) with different inclusion levels (0, 25 and 50%) of LAB treated RS on lactating performance of Holstein dairy cows. Rice straw packed with stretch film was ensiled for 45 d. The results showed that the higher level of LAB inoculants in the silage quadratically decreased pH, $NH_3$-N and acetic acid concentrations and increased the contents of lactic acid and total organic acids. The CP content and DM losses in the silage declined linearly as the level of LAB addition was increased. Compared with whole-plant rice straw silage (WRS), chopped rice straw silage (CRS) dramatically reduced pH by 0.83. The concentrations of $NH_3$-N were similar in WRS and CRS and both were less than 50 g/kg of total N. Chopping rice straw before ensiling significantly enhanced the lactic acid concentration and total organic acids content whereas the concentration of acetic acid declined. The CP, NDF and ADF content of CRS was 13.4, 5.9 and 10.2% lower than in WRS, respectively. Except for butyric acid concentration, significant interaction effects of inoculation level and physical form of RS were found on all fermentation end-products. Our findings indicated that milk yield and composition were not affected by different level of RS inclusion. However, because of the lower cost of WRS, cows consuming a ration in which WRS was partially substituted for CS had 3.48 Yuan (75% CS+25% WRS) and 4.56 Yuan (50% CS+50% WRS) more economic benefit over those fed a CS-based ration. It was concluded that the chopping process and LAB addition could improve the silage quality, and that substitution of corn silage with RS silage lowered the cost of the dairy cow ration without impairing lactation performance.
The Waste Rice Straws (W.R.S.) after cultivation with the Pleurotas Ostreatus SACCARDO was substituted for wheat bran in the broiler ration. The results of the experiment 1 and 2 obtained were summerized as follows; 1. The content of C. protein in the W.R.S. showed 1.5% higher value than that in the rice straw. No change was detected in the content of C. fat. However the content of C. fiber and N.F.E in W.R.S. decreased in comparision with those of raw rice straw. 2. The treated groups were inclned to rapid gain of body weight, especially the 4% W.R.S. group had been showed significatly higher value of gain than the control and 6% treated groups (p<0.05 ). 3. No significant differences were observed in the amount of feet intake among experimental groups, even if the treated groups showed slightly higher intake than control group. 4. The treated groups in W.R.S. were inferior to the control group in feed intake but there were no significant differences. 5. The methionine in W.R.S. was the only amino acid which contained similar quantity of wheat brans. 6. To extend the amount of W.R.S. in broiler ration the 6% of W.R.S. was substituted for wheat bran and methionine mixture was added. No significance differences had been showed in weight gain, feed intake and feed efficiency between control and treated groups. Even though the treated groups showed more feed intake and lower weight gain in comparision with control group. 7. The methionine added group showed adverse effect in economics of production (p<0.01) because of high cost of the methionine mixture, Therefore less than. 6% of the WRS could be substituted for wheat bran. According to the results of the experiment 1 and 2 it could be concluded that maximum use of the W.R.R. as substitute for wheat bran was less than 4% of the ration.
