  • The necessity of universal design for forestry is increasing. Although several studies applied universal design in forest site, they had been only concentrated on the barrier-free design for the limited activities rather than overall utilization for considering all visitors from the disabled, the elderly and the infirm to the baby and child. The purpose of this study is to find out the principle of the universal design within forest welfare service facilities by analysing how socially disadvantaged people perceive overall usage of natural recreation forest area. This study figures out the main principles of universal design in forest welfare through analyzing usage of children and disabilities in Yumyeongsan natural recreation forest where is one of the popular type of forest welfare area. By doing focus interviews targeted on children and disabilities, the results are analyzed through semantic network analysis, objectively. The result proves that universal design in forest welfare area contains four principles; convenience, safety, diversity and amenity. Also it confirmed that disabilities need better internal space facilities and priority care. Through those characters of universal design, forest area will be able to cover more various type of users as forest welfare area.

  • In this study, I grasped the actual conditions of folk exhibition hall in Chungbuk area. From this data I researched basically as the fundamental role of regional museum, eco-museum core center facilities, the connection with islanded and various inheritances, and central facilities whole area to the museum. And I could get following conclusion. First, on the studied result of folk exhibition hall in chungbuk area, it is not enough the activity of unearthing, collection, study etc. that is basic activity of the museum because the museum just permanently displayed historical contents of the area and simple life folk data. Second, add to existent museum concept and have to widen viewpoint to the museum which whole area is no roof, and utilize folk exhibition hall as the central facilities. Specially, there are a lot of difficulties to communicate information to visitors because of the absence of cultural heritance exponent. So a plan that local resident participate actively in museum activity may have to be considered. Third, the concept of inheritance limited in historical culture of area has to be widening by nature and industry etc. And we should keep up study that is the linked plan to scattered conservation remains, inheritance and tourist place in area.

  • It is a trend to pursue the reinforcement of child-centered, play-oriented ecological education programs that support children's development. Most of these nature friendly and eco education is done in the outdoor space. So outdoor activities in child care facilities are essential. The purpose of this study was to analyze the actual condition of the outdoor space for ecological child education in the child care center. Therefore, in order to provide the basic data for the direction of the improvement and to grasp the current situation and problems, the survey and analysis of the external space composition and utilization status in the child care facilities for nature-friendly ecological child care education has been done. As a result, the half of the cases did not reserve even the minimum size of outdoor space and fall short of the standards of outdoor space quality as accessibility, complexity, articulation and nature friendliness for ecological education. Therefore, in order to establish an ecological education environment, it is necessary to build facilities in natural green or suburban areas. In addition, they need to use the natural environment such as parks, open spaces, and forests.

  • This study was performed to investigate airborne formaldehyde concentration in preschool facilities. Arithmetic mean of indoor formaldehyde concentration in urban area was 34.9 ppb(Geometric mean 24.4 ppb) whereas outdoor concentration was 21.5 ppb(GM 11.9 ppb). In rural area, formaldehyde concentrations were 36.4 ppb(GM 28.7 ppb), 4.1 ppb(GM 4.1 ppb), respectively. There is no statistical significance between the formaldehyde concentrations of urban classrooms and those of rural area. We verified that the distribution of airborne formaldehyde concentration was log-normal characteristic using Shapiro and Wilk test. The 6.7% of urban indoor samples was exceeded the domestic standard limit of indoor air quality. From our study and other study, we concluded that the major emission sources of formaldehyde in preschool facilities was in indoor rather than outdoor.
