  • In this study, the dynamic behavior of friction bearings of PSC (Pre-Stressed Concrete) box train continuous bridge was numerically analyzed at 10 km/h intervals up to 600 km/h according to the increasing speed of the next-generation high-speed train. A frame model was generated targeting the 40-meter single-span and two-span continuous PSC box bridges in the Gyeongbu High-Speed Railway section. The interaction forces including the inertial mass vehicle model with 38 degrees of freedom and the irregularities of the bridge and track were considered. It was calculated the longitudinal displacement, cumulative sliding distance and displacement speed of the bridge bearings at each running speed so that compared with the dynamic behavior trend analysis of the bridge. In addition, long-term friction test standards were applied to evaluate the durability of friction plates.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze movement of inline skate players at inline roller skate T300m start so that we can find effective starting movement, and provide basic and scientific materials in improving performance of inline roller skaters for T300m inline roller skating. In doing so, five Korean national representative inline skaters who elected in 2008 Korean National Inline Roller Skating Cup were taped during the cup and analyzed through 3D viewing in terms of their starting movement Conclusions of the analysis were as follows: First, the better the record of starting phase is the shorter average of contact time on track. Second, to improve starting speed, players raised their body just like running instead of lowering them when gliding. players could shorten their strike and moved faster in order to accelerate, and it was more effective to speed up when they quickly switched from running to gliding. Third, the five country-representative players speeded up by bending their knees to a greater degree in order to improve stability. And then the most effective way was believed to minimize track connection of skating at starting in each phase.

  • For ASME Code pumps in nuclear power plants, inservice test is required to assess the operational readiness in accordance with ASME code and related regulations. The objective of this study therefore, is to develop the technical background of the degradation of pump performances and conditions due to low flow rate operation. In addition. the detection techniques of pump operating conditions are to be developed to enhance the safety and economy of nuclear power plants. A test loop consisted of pump, motor. water tank, flow rate measurements and piping system with flow control devices was established for this study. Two typical pumps, 1-stage volute pump and 3-stage turbine pump, were selected and the test was performed upon two major point of views ; i.e., pump discharge pressure pulsations analysis and pump vibration spectrum analysis. From the test results, it is concluded that (1) the pump vibration affected by the natural frequency of operating pump is significant in the low frequency zone (around 1 Hz) : the vibration amplitude. especially. is an important factor during low flow rate operation. and shall be monitored to ensure that it is within the limit of ASME OM code Part 6, (2) the vibration frequency and pump discharge pressure are affected by vane pass frequency and running speed, (3) the wave phenomena due to the compressiblity of water is anticipated during low flow rate operation. and the pump system shall be designed to prevent it and. finally, (4) the technical background of the degradation of pump performances and conditions due to low flow rate operation is provided.

  • This study presents a decision making process for installation of wind barrier which is used to reduce the wind acting on running vehicle on expressway. At the first stage of this study, the lateral deviations of running vehicles under side winds were computed from the commercial softwares, CarSim and TruckSim, and then the critical wind speeds for car accident were evaluated from predefined risk index. To determine whether it is needed to install wind barrier or not, cost and benefit from wind barrier are calculated during lifetime. In obtaining car accidental risk, probabilistic distribution of wind speed, daily traffic volume, mixture ratio in the volume, and duration time for wind speed range are considered. It is recommended to install wind barrier if benefit from the barrier installation exceed construction cost. In the numerical examples, case studies were shown for risk and benefit calculation and main risky regions on Korean highway were all evaluated to identify the number of installation sites.

  • IEEE 1149.1 test architecture was proposed to support the test of elements within the boards. It is a large serial shift register that uses the TDI pin as an input and the TDO pin as an output. Even though it performs the board level test perfectly, there is a problems of running system level test when the boards are equipped to the system. To test real time operation signal on test pin, output speed of serial shift register chain must be above double clock speed of shift register. In this paper, we designed a runtime test architecture and a runtime test procedure under running system environments to capture runtime signal at system clock rate. The suggested runtime test architecture are simulated by Altera Max+Plus 10.0. through the runtime test procedure. The simulation results show that operations of the suggested runtime test architecture are very accurate.

  • To improve ride quality and running stability of high speed train(HST), it is important that connection between coaches adopts the articulated bogies by using a gangway ring, unlike the conventional independent bogies assembled with car bodies. Although the gangway ring should be ensured absolute safety against passenger movement between coaches during train operation, there is still a lack of quantitative durability criteria of that. Therefore, in order to improve the passenger safety of HST, it is important to study the test requirements on durability evaluation for the ring. In this study, seven mixed loading cases were derived from the triaxial loading(vertical/lateral/longitudinal) modes. The safety factor of each component is at least 2.4 or more from the results of the finite element analysis. In addition, fatigue safety was evaluated through durability analysis from the viewpoint of strain-life design. Durability tests for the gangway ring carried out a total of 10 million cycles in 4 phases load conditions. After the durability test, the defect of each component was investigated using nondestructive testing techniques.

  • Due to enhanced construction requirement, ready mixed concrete are being popular day by day. The current study aimed to develop ready mixed concrete using GBFS contained cement and determine its properties of fresh and hardened states. A real scale experiment was set up in a ready mixed plant for measuring workability and compressive strength. The workability was tested after mixing (within 5 minutes), 30, 60, 90, 120 and 150 minutes of the running of bulk carrier. The ready mixed carrier employed spinning motion i.e., rotating around its axis with 20 RPM and running on road with 1km/h speed. The mixing ratio of cement: sand:gravel, water to cement ratio, super plasticizer were, 1:1.73:2.47, 0.40 and 6% of cement, respectively. The chemical composition of raw material was determined using XRF and the properties of cements were measured according to ASTM standards. The experimental results confirm that the cement with composition of 6.89% of GBFS, 4% of Gypsum and 89.11% of clinker showed the good compressive strength and workability of concrete after 150 minutes of the spinning motion in bulk carrier.

  • This paper concerns with a method to improve the current and power waveforms of the variable speed $3{\Phi}$ AC motor system driven by the single-pulse PWM, and the current waveforms and $3{\Phi}$ power waveforms are analyzed by FFT under various running conditions. By the performance analysis through the experiments, the following results have been obtained. AC source of pseudo sine waveform can be obtained from the modulated alternating square voltage by means of the well designed LC filter. It is confirmed that current waveforms and $3{\Phi}$ power waveforms can be improved by utilizing the high order low pass LC filter than that of lower order. Especially, current waveforms and $3{\Phi}$ power waveforms tan be much improved at low frequency domain. $3{\Phi}$ power waveforms have a smatter ripple and bigger power by utilizing the high order low pass LC filter than that of lower order. Also, the running condition of $3{\Phi}$ AC motor is good at low frequency domain.

  • Mobile Harbor (MH) is a new transportation platform that can load and unload containers onto and from very large container ships at sea. It could navigate near harbors where several vessels run, or it could navigate through very narrow channels. In the conceptual design phase when the candidate design changes frequently according to the various performance requirements, it is very expensive and time-consuming to carry out model tests using a large model in a large towing tank and a free-running model test in a large maneuvering basin. In this paper, a new Planar Motion Mechanism(PMM) test in a Circulating Water Channel (CWC) was conducted in order to determine the hydrodynamic coefficients of the MH. To do this, PMM devices including three-component load cells and inertia tare device were designed and manufactured, and various tests of the MH such as static drift test, pure sway test, pure yaw test, and drift-and-yaw combined test were carried out. Using those coefficients, course-keeping stability was analyzed. In addition, the PMM tests results carried out for the same KCS (KRISO container ship) were compared with our results in order to confirm the test validity.
