  • This paper presents the Runge-Kutta neural networks(RKNN's) using the Runge-Kutta approximation method and the orthogonal function for control of unknown dynamical systems described by ordinary differencial equations in high accuracy. These subnetworks of RKNN's are based on orthogonal function. Computer simulations show the usefulness of the proposed scheme.

  • A dependence of weighting parameter in preconditioning method for solving low Mach number flow with incompressible flow nature is investigated. The present preconditioning method employs a finite-difference method applied Roe‘s flux difference splitting approximation with the MUSCL-TVD scheme and 4th-order Runge-Kutta method in curvilinear coordinates. From the computational results of benchmark flows through a 2-D backward-facing step duct it is confirmed that there exists a suitable value of the weighting parameter for accurate and stable computation. A useful method to determine the weighting parameter is introduced. With this method, high accuracy and stable computational results were obtained for the flow with low Mach number in the range of Mach number less than 0.3.

  • In this paper we have considered the vibration of parametrically excited oscillator with strong cubic positive nonlinearity of complex variable in nonlinear dynamic systems with forcing based on Mathieu-Duffing equation. A new analytical approach called homotopy perturbation has been utilized to obtain the analytical solution for the problem. Runge-Kutta's algorithm is also presented as our numerical solution. Some comparisons between the results obtained by the homotopy perturbation method and Runge-Kutta algorithm are shown to show the accuracy of the proposed method. In has been indicated that the homotopy perturbation shows an excellent approximations comparing the numerical one.

  • This paper deals with dynamic response of a beam structure with discrete spring-damper supports under a moving mass. Governing equations of motion taking into account of all inertia effects of the moving mass were derived by Galerkin's mode summation method, and Runge-Kutta integration method was applied to solve the differential equations. The effects of the speed of the moving mass, spring stiffness, damping coefficient, span number of a beam structure, mass ratio of the moving mass on the dynamic response of the beam structure have been studied. Some numerical results provide design engineers for the beam structure design with discrete supports under a moving mass.

  • In this study simply supported nonlinear Euler-Bernoulli beams resting on linear elastic foundation and subjected to the axial loads is investigated. A new kind of analytical technique for a non-linear problem called He's Energy Balance Method (EBM) is used to obtain the analytical solution for non-linear vibration behavior of the problem. Analytical expressions for geometrically non-linear vibration of Euler-Bernoulli beams resting on linear elastic foundation and subjected to the axial loads are provided. The effect of vibration amplitude on the non-linear frequency and buckling load is discussed. The variation of different parameter to the nonlinear frequency is considered completely in this study. The nonlinear vibration equation is analyzed numerically using Runge-Kutta $4^{th}$ technique. Comparison of Energy Balance Method (EBM) with Runge-Kutta $4^{th}$ leads to highly accurate solutions.

  • This paper deals with the linear dynamic response of an elastically restrained beam under a moving mass, where the elastic support was modelled by translational springs of variable stiffness. Governing equations of motion taking into account of all inertia effects of the moving mass were derived by Galerkin's mode summation method, and Runge-Kutta integration method was applied to solve the differential equations. The effects of the speed, the magnitude of the moving mass, stiffness and the position of the support springs on the response of the beam have been studied. A variety of numerical results allows us to draw important conclusions for structural design purposes.

  • A circular cylinder is oscillated in th otherwise quiescent viscous fluid. Numerical analysis performed for this problem by using the fourth-order Runge-kutta method for the unsteady Navier-stokes equations. For K(Kelegan-Carpenter''s No.)=5, the flow developed symmetrically, while for K=10, it revealed random patterns. The coefficient of the rms force is overestimated by 20-30% compared with the experimental result.

  • For transient stability analysis of a power system, the new method using transition matrix is introduced in this paper. At the present the, Runge-Kutta, Modified-Euler and Trapezoidal methods have been very popular in most stability programs, Modified-Euler and Trapezoidal methods are inferior in accuracy and Runge-Kutta method has problems in computation time. The proposed algorithm requires transition matrix and its integrated values with derivatives of nonlinear parts in nonlinear differential equations for stability analysis. The method presented in this paper is between Modified-Euler and Runge-Kutta methods from the view point of computation time and is superior to the other methods in accuracy.

  • This paper is devoted to the study and investigation of the Runge-Kutta discontinuous Galerkin method for a system of differential equations consisting of two hyperbolic conservation laws. The numerical coupling flux which is used at a given interface (x = 0) is the upwind flux. Moreover, in the linear case, we derive optimal convergence rates in the $L_2$-norm, showing an error estimate of order ${\mathcal{O}}(h^{k+1})$ in domains where the exact solution is smooth; here h is the mesh width and k is the degree of the (orthogonal Legendre) polynomial functions spanning the finite element subspace. The underlying temporal discretization scheme in time is the third-order total variation diminishing Runge-Kutta scheme. We justify the advantages of the Runge-Kutta discontinuous Galerkin method in a series of numerical examples.

  • This paper presents He's Energy Balance Method (EBM) for solving nonlinear oscillatory differential equations. Three strong nonlinear cases have been studied analytically. Analytical results of the EBM are compared with numerical solutions using Runge-Kutta's algorithm. The effects of different important parameters on the nonlinear response of the systems are studied. The results show the presented method is potentially to solve high nonlinear vibration equations.
