  • Delay in the process of Information Extraction, IE, is largely due to inability to correctly recognize the user's information requirement of particular search factors. Especially if the wrapper rules are used in a search engine, the search generally fails to classify internet documents properly and efficiently since the application of the same wrapper rules lacks extensibility throughout various types of existing internet document. In case of buying or selling a ship, if the price range, type. place of delivery, inspection site and other information relevant to the sales would be available through the internet for proper retrieval the sales could more readily succeed by using Ontology relating to sales or purchase information and by selectively searching for the desired information through the content based retrieval system. This system proposes to improve various wrapper systems existing throughout different internet sites and to eliminate unnecessary information tagged on the existing internet documents in order to create a more advanced information retrieval system.

  • As recently XML is becoming the standard of exchanging web documents and public documentations, XML data are increasing in many areas. To retrieve the information about XML documents efficiently, the semantic web based on the ontology is appearing. The existing ontology has been constructed manually and it was time and cost consuming. Therefore in this paper, we propose the semi-automatic ontology generation technique using the data mining technique, the association rules. The proposed method solves what type and how many conceptual relationships and determines the ontology domain level for the automatic ontology generation, using the data mining algorithm. Appying the association rules to the XML documents, we intend to find out the conceptual relationships to construct the ontology, finding the frequent patterns of XML tags in the XML documents. Using the conceptual ontology domain level extracted from the data mining, we implemented the semantic web based on the ontology by XML Topic Maps (XTM) and the topic map engine, TM4J.

  • Recently, there are many researches about natural language processing programs using artificial intelligence methods. But the researches mostly concentrate on Korean morphological analyses and there are few researches about application of the results of Korean morphological analyses. In this paper, we implemented a natural language conversation program that NPC in games can talk with users by natural language sentences using the results of morphological analyses and a rule-based inference method. We proposed representation and implementation methods of rules suitable for the processing of natural language conversation using NEO, a rule-based inference engine. In the experiment using rules and facts about knowledge of conversation for diet counselor NPC, we could verify that natural conversation results were produced.

  • This paper aims to design a system for psychological diagnosis in sandbox play by applying rule based expert system. Sandbox play is one of play therapy and it is a technique that can be combined with psychological diagnosis and treatment using sand and various kinds of figures. In this technique, we focus on psychological diagnostic factors and try to implement a system that automatically diagnoses psychological types when input values are given. Therefore, six kinds of language objects are set and the rules are created according to the types of figures, arrangement of figures, and production time in the sand box used as a reference element in the diagnosis method. In this system, it is assumed that the client recognizes the finished sandbox as a sensor device. Then, when the recognized state enters the input value, the rules based on the language object are ignited in order. Through this, the client is diagnosed with one of 26 types of psychology. As a result, the diagnostic process is simplified and automated. Accordingly, a more detailed psychological diagnosis and treatments are provided.

  • An expert system is developed which can diagnose the causes and remedies of the failures of power transmission gears. The basic components of the expert system are knowledge base, inference engine, and working memory. The knowledges in knowledge base are classified into the knowledges for determining the failure types and for diagnosis of causes and remedies of the failures. The former is represented hierarchically into the main category of eleven groups by rules and the sub category of twenty four groups by facts, while the later is represented by facts according to the each group of knowledges. In the inference engine some considerations are implemented, i.e., the backward chaining method and depth first search to determine the category of the failures, the meta-knowledges to shorten the search space, the certainty factor to evaluate the reliability of result, and the unification strategy to diagnose the causes and remedies of the failures. The working memory is established to hold the results during inference temporarily. In addition, knowledge acquisition facility, explanation facility, and user interface are included for the usefulness of user. This expert system is written with the PROLOG programming language on IBM-PC compatible computer operated by MS-DOS and be executed alone.

  • To prevent the electrical accidents in the laboratory, we identify problems for periodic inspections of the electric field and develop a fuzzy inference system that can be practically applied to check items. Focusing on electrical safety in the lab environment, we draw check items that can be applied in common and develop a standard checklist that is consistent with the laboratory electrical safety and the periodic inspections. Using the standard checklist we select the items that may contain a linguistic ambiguity and define the membership functions for these items. We also have a safety rating defined by the membership function. Using these fuzzy variables we form the fuzzy rules in the form of 'If-Then' and develop a fuzzy inference system through the fuzzy engine. From this, electrical accidents could be prevented in advance continuously by managing the intelligent and efficient inspection and electrical safety to prevent the electrical accidents in the laboratory.

  • In this paper, the diagnostic expert system for silicone oil-filled transformer is developed using dissolved gas analysis(DGA). There are many diagnostic methods for diagnostic oil-immersed transformer. But DGA is used to the proposed expert system since it has been verified that DGA is very efficient diagnostic method for transformer. In addition, it is resonable that fuzzy rule, degree of inclusion and fuzzy measure must be considered to handle the uncertainty nature of gas boundary and rules. The proposed expert system consists of knowledge base module, inference engine module and human-machine interface(HMI) module. The knowledge base module consists of the knowledge using the rule. The inference engine module is used to the fuzzy rule. The history of the transformer gas data is managed by the database. the effect of the proposed expert system is verified by case studies.

  • There are POP3(Post Office Progocol 3) and IMAP4(Internet Message Access Protocol 4) for E-Mail service of wire Internet For mobile e-mail service that use wireless Internet, must use exclusive use mobile e-mail server in the case of POP3 e-mail or flow e-mail conversion and because e-mail is kept in sever side with remote file server in case of IMAP4 mail that is used by Web-Mail, utilization of mobile e-mail service is difficult by mobile client who there is no IMAP4 rules. This thesis embodying e-mail extraction engine for mobile that do to design markup language converter of XML base, and use Web-Mail of recently been generalizing IMAP4 base in mobile, presented mobile e-mail service method to do so that can use Web-Mail that is based on IMAP4 as well as POP3 mail service in mobile environment.

  • Recently, character agents are used as a user-friendly interface. In this paper, we have studied a generic framework for emotional character agents which are designed to infer emotions from diverse personalities, situations, user behaviors and to express them. The method of emotion inference is based on blackboard systems which are used to solve the problems in AI. Because it keeps independence between knowledge sources which are rules of emotions, a blackboard-based inference engine is easy to manage knowledge sources, Blackboard-based systems gave the system flexibility. So we can adapt the engine to various application systems. Each emotional agent monitors user behavior, learns user profile and infers user behavior. And it generates characters emotions according to the user profile. So, in case of same situations, the agent can generate different emotions according to users. We have studied to build an personalized emotional character agent which according to situations and user modeling.

  • A TTS(Text-To-Speech) System is a computer-based system that should be able to read any text aloud. To output a natural voice, we need a general knowledge of language, a lot of time, and effort. Furthermore, the sound pattern of english has a variable pattern, which consists of phonemic and morphological analysis. It is very difficult to maintain consistency of pattern. To handle these problems, we present a system based on phonemic analysis for vowel and consonant. By analyzing phonological variations frequently found in spoken english, we have derived about phonemic contexts that would trigger the multilevel application of the corresponding phonological process, which consists of phonemic and allophonic rules. In conclusion, we have a rule data which consists of phoneme, and a engine which economize in system. The proposed system can use not only communication system, but also utilize office automation and so on.
