An Active Temporal Rule Model for a Nuclear Plant Monitoring System (원전감시 시스템을 위한 능동적 시간지원 규칙 모델)

  • Many applications such as nuclear power plant monitoring, plant process control, stock market management, and network data management require a database system supporting both temporal data model and active rule processing. There have been some efforts to extend the temporal functionalities of the active database system, but an active database system based on temporal database, especially the one applied to the real application is rare. In this paper, we proposed an active temporal rule model based on bi-temporal database. And a rule language following the proposed rule model was described with its execution semantics. Then, how to apply to the nuclear power plant monitoring system was given as the examples.

  • A fuzzy rule-based hand-motion estimation algorithm is proposed for a 6 dimensional spatial tracker in which low cost accelerometers and gyros are employed. To be specific, beginning and stopping of hand motions needs to be accurately detected to initiate and terminate integration process to get position and pose of the hand from accelerometer and gyro signals, since errors due to noise and/or hand-shaking motions accumulated by integration processes. Fuzzy rules of yes or no of hand-motion-detection are here proposed for rules of accelerometer signals, and sum of derivatives of accelerometer and gyro signals. Several experimental results and shown to validate our proposed algorithms.

  • Template has been widely used for hull forming process in most of shipyards. It is used to estimate the curvature of deformed shape in comparison with design shape. SHI (Samsung Heavy Industry) had used AutoKon system for ship manufacturing design in the past. The AutoKon used the global coordinate system of ship (frame, water line and so on) to create template data. It brought the mismatched angles between templates and a curved shell plate. The mismatched angle is measured by forming worker to place template on shell forming stage. However, the mismatched angle is difficult to place template with exactly required angle because the shell plates have various curvature and size. It causes incorrect shape of formed shell plates. The attached angle of template should be 90 degree to place template easily on forming shell plates. Currently, SHI has been applied GSCAD for ship manufacturing design process which is 3D solid modeling system. The GSCAD is the rule-based system which can automate 3D modeling and control the manufacturing data by rule. The rule can easily provide methods to create and automate template object with regular attached angle in comparison with AutoKon system. Therefore, SHI developed new template rule which it can automatically create template object with regular attached angle in GSCAD.

Computer Aided Process Planning of Block Assembly using an Expert System (전문가 시스템을 이용한 블록조립 공정계획)

  • This paper presents the use of an evert system to automate process planning of block assembly, a task that is usually completed manually. In order to determine the sequence of assembly operation, a search method guided by rules, such as merging of related operations, grouping of similar operations, and precedence rules based on know-hows and geometrical reasoning, is used. In this paper, the expert system developed is explained in detail regarding a global database, control strategies, and rule bases. For verification purposes, the evert system has been applied to simple examples. Since the rule bases are isolated from the inference engine in the developed system, it is easy to add more rules in the future.

  • In this paper, we proposed an optimal identification method of the membership functions and the numbers of fuzzy rule base for the stabilization controller of the Thermal process control system by RVEGA. Although fuzzy logic controllers and expert systems have been successfully applied in many complex industrial process, they must rely on experts knowledges. So it is difficult in determination of the linguistic state space, definition of the membership functions of each linguistic term and the derivation of the control rules. To verify the validity of this RVEGA-based fuzzy controller, Thermal process control system, with strong nonlinear dynamics, was selected for application of this algorithm and compare with PI controller, and the empirically improved fuzzy controller.

A study on intelligent fish-drying process control system

  • In this paper, a fish drying process control system is proposed, which predicts the proper change with time in weight of the material fish and the drying conditions in advance, based on the performance of skilled worker. In order to implement a human expertise into an automated fish drying process control system, an experimental analysis is made and a model for the process is built. The proposed system divided into two procedures: The procedure before drying and the one during drying. The procedure before drying is for the prediction of necessary drying time. To estimate the necessary drying time, first, the proper change in weight for the product is obtained by using fuzzy reasoning. The condition part of the production rule consists of the factors of fish body and the expected degree of dryness. Kext, the necessary drying time is obtained by regression models. The variables employed in the models are the factors, inferred change in weight and drying conditions. The model for the procedure during drying is also proposed for more accurate estimation, which is described by a system of linear-differential equations.

  • Almost applications using fuzzy theory are based on the fuzzy inference. However fuzzy inference needs much time in calculation process for the fuzzy system with many input variables or many fuzzy labels defined on each variable. Inference time is dependent on the number of arithmetic Product in computation Process. Especially, the inference time is a primary constraint to fuzzy control applications using microprocessor or PC-based controller. In this paper, a simple fast fuzzy inference algorithm(FFIA), without loss of information, was proposed to reduce the inference time based on the fuzzy system with triangular membership functions in antecedent part of fuzzy rule. The proposed algorithm was induced by using partition of input state space and simple geometrical analysis. By using this scheme, we can take the same effect of the fuzzy rule reduction.

  • The construction industry consists of various and massive architectural information as an architectural process includes a variety of design stages with cooperation of many disciplines. Particularly, architectural information is generated and managed through the life cycle of a building, from conceptual design stage to the construction and maintenance. A Building Information Model (BIM) serves as a shared knowledge resource for information about a facility forming a reliable basis for decisions during its life-cycle from inception onward. BIM technology accomplished quantitative development being utilized in various disciplines. However, it is necessary to develop environment and requirement for qualitative improvement of BIM based project. Particularly, requirement is very important for architectural design evaluations. The purpose of this study is to develop and apply of quality control requirement for improving the quality of architectural design in open BIM environments. To achieve this purpose, the authors have investigated case study for open BIM data quality control (software, guideline and application case) and classified quality control targets according to physical/logical quality and data quality. In addition, the authors have defined open BIM based quality control process and developed quality control requirements. Finally, the authors have developed rule based quality check system using requirements for efficient quality control based on open BIM.

A Multibit Tree Bitmap based Packet Classification (멀티 비트 트리 비트맵 기반 패킷 분류)

  • Packet classification is an important factor to support various services such as QoS guarantee and VPN for users in Internet. Packet classification is a searching process for best matching rule on rule tables by employing multi-field such as source address, protocol, and port number as well as destination address in If header. In this paper, we propose hardware based packet classification algorithm by employing tree bitmap of multi-bit trio. We divided prefixes of searching fields and rule into multi-bit stride, and perform a rule searching with multi-bit of fixed size. The proposed scheme can reduce the access times taking for rule search by employing indexing key in a fixed size of upper bits of rule prefixes. We also employ a marker prefixes in order to remove backtracking during searching a rule. In this paper, we generate two dimensional random rule set of source address and destination address using routing tables provided by IPMA Project, and compare its memory usages and performance.

  • We are developing an automatic adjusting system for ITC. ITC(Integrated Tube Components) has a large set-by-set variability in its characteristics. And it also has nonlinearities. It requires not only a fast vision process but also an efficient control algorithm to meet the need for high productivity. In this paper, the description of an adjusting system and the modelling of ITC will be presented. And also the concept of a new rule based hierarchical algorithmic approaches will be suggested.
