함정의 평판형 방향타 캐비테이션 침식에 대한 모형 시험 연구 (Study on the Model Tests of Cavitation Erosion Occurring in Navy Ship's Flat-Type Rudder)

  • In the present study, a method of performing cavitation erosion test directly on the anodized surface of the rudder model is proposed, not applying ink or paint on its surface. An image processing technique is newly developed to quantitatively evaluate the erosion damages on the rudder model surface after erosion test. The preprocessing saturation image, image smoothing, adaptive hysteresis thresholding and eroded area detection algorithms are in the image processing program. The rudder cavitation erosion tests are conducted in the rudder deflection angle range of 0° to -4°, which is used to maintain a straight course at the highest speed of the targeted navy ship. In the case of the conventional flat-type full-spade rudder currently being used in the target ship, surface erosion can occur on the model rudder surface in the above rudder deflection angle range. The bubble type of cavitation occurs on rudder surface, which is estimated to be the main reason of erosion damage on the rudder surface.

  • The horn and movable parts around the gap of the conventional semi-spade rudder are visualized by high speed CCD camera with the frame rate of 4000 fps (frame per second) to study the unsteady cavity pattern on the rudder surface and gap. In addition, the pressure measurements are conducted on the rudder surface and inside the gap to find out the characteristics of the flow behavior. The rudder without propeller wake is tested at the range of $1.0{\leq}{\sigma}_v\;1.6$ and at the rudder deflection angle of $-8{\leq}{\theta}{\leq}10^{\circ}$. The time resolved cavity images are captured and show strong cavitation around the rudder gap in all deflection angles. As the deflection angle gets larger, the flow separated from the horn surface increases the strength of cavitation. The accelerated flow along the horn decreases its pressure and the separated flow from the horn increases the pressure abruptly. The pressure distribution inside the gap reveals the flow moving from the pressure to suction side. In the negative deflection angle, the turning area on the movable part initiates the flow separation and cavitation on it.

선체반류 중에서 작동하는 프로펠러에 의한 방향타 유입유동 PIV 계측 (PIV Measurements of Rudder Inflow Induced by Propeller Revolution in Hull Wake)

  • In the present study, the flow fields in between the propeller and the semi-spade rudder are investigated by using PIV technique to find out the influences of both simulated hull wake and propeller wake on the incident flow to the rudder. The velocity fields are measured at the propeller rotation angle of $180^{\circ}$ and the rudder deflection angles of $0^{\circ}$. Flow fields measured at each rudder deflection angle are analyzed in terms of angle-of-attack against the rudder leading edge. The hull wake increases the angle-of-attack more than that in the uniform inflow condition, forming the angle-of-attack of about $20^{\circ}$ at 0.7R(R=propeller radius) position. The distribution of the angle-of-attack is strongly affected by the stagnation point around the leading edge and camber effect of the rudder. These effects provide asymmetric distribution of angle-of-attack with respect to the leading edge of the rudder.

  • 선박에서 제어판을 가지는 목적은 선박의 운동을 제어하는데 있다. 제어판은 단동타의 형태일수도 있고 고정된 부분과 이동하는 부분의 조합에 의해 구성될 수도 있다. 이러한 제어판은 그 고유의 목적에 맞도록 역할을 수행하는 기능을 가지며, 유체와 상대적인 운동과 원초적인 기능에 의해 조정력을 증가시키는 것이다. 이러한 힘과 모멘트는 영각의 변화와 회전에 의해서 생성되고 선박의 조종성능을 결정한다. 본 논문에서는 플랩러더와 물분사러더의 2차원 유동특성을 회류수조에서 PIV기법을 이용하여 각각 계측하였다. 모델시험은 플랩러더와 물분사러더를 NACA0012의 영각과 플랩각을 변화시키면서 수행하였다. 2프레임 입자추적기법은 유동장에서 속도분포를 득하는데 이용되었다. 전체실험에서 레이놀즈수 $Re{\fallingdotseq}3.0{\times}10^4$를 적용하였으며 상호비교를 통해 계측된 결과값을 비교평가하였다.

함정용 방향타에서 발생하는 구름(cloud) 캐비테이션의 주파수 특성에 대한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Frequency Characteristics of Cloud Cavitation on Naval Ship Rudder)

  • In this study, the amount and frequency characteristics of cloud cavitation formed on a navy ship rudder were investigated through cavitation image processing technique and cavitation noise analysis. A high-speed camera with high time resolution was used to observe the cavitation on a full-spade rudder. The deflection angle range of the full-spade rudder was set to 8 to 15 degrees so that cloud cavitation was generated on the rudder surface. For images taken at 104 fps (frame per second), reference values for detecting cavitation were defined and detected in Red, Green, Blue and Hue, Saturation, Lightness color spaces to quantitatively analyze the amount of cavitation. Intrinsic frequency characteristics of cloud cavitation were detected from the time series data of the amount of cavitation. The frequency characteristics of cloud cavitation obtained by using the image processing technique were found to be the same through the analysis of the noise signal measured by the hydrophone installed on the hull above the rudder, and its peak value was in the frequency band of 30~60Hz.

스마트 무인기 TR-E2S1 형상 풍동시험 결과 (Wind Tunnel Test of Smart Un-manned Aerial Vehicle(SUAV) for TR-E2S1 Configuration)

  • To improve the aerodynamic effciency of TR-E2, a new configuration so called TR-E2Sl was introduced. TR-2251 is composed of different wing airfoil section and T-tail shape compared with TR-E2. Wind tunnel test for TR-EBS1 had been performed by changing the incidence angles of wing and deflection angles of control surfaces such as elevator and rudder. Also the on/off effect of ventral fin attached underneath of AFT fuselage was tested. Test result showed that variations of wing incidence angle did not cause any severe differences in aerodynamic characteristics. Longitudinal and directional characteristics of TR-E2S1 show stable for the pitch and yaw motions. However, the lateral stability of TR-E2S1 is not stable for a certain control surface deflection.

  • 선박에서 제어판를 가지는 주요목적은 선박의 운동을 제어하는 것이다. 제어판은 단동타나 고종판에 이동할 수 있는 부분을 혼합하여 사용되는 것으로 구성되어있다. 제어판은 이런 목적에 맞게 수행될 수 있는 고유의 기능을 가지고, 이는 유체와 관련된 방향과 운동의 결과로 제어력을 증가시키는 것이다. 힘과 운동은 회전과 영각의 결과로서 발생하고, 선박의 조종특성을 결정한다. 본 연구에서는 플랩타의 2차원 단면에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 플랩타의 유통특성을 파악하기 위하여 각각의 영각과 플랩각을 변화시켜가며 모형실험을 수행하였으며, 유통장내의 속도분포를 얻기 위하여 PIV계측기법 중 동일입자 추적법의 하나인 2프레림 입자추적법을 사용하였다. 모델실험은 $Re=2.8\times10^4$에서 수행하였으며, 계측된 결과들을 서로 비교하였다.

주성분 분석을 통한 선박 조종 중 4자유도 동역학 특성 연구 (A Study on 4DOF Ship Dynamics in Maneuver by Principal Component Analysis)

  • The present study concerns a feasibility study for applying principal component analysis to ship dynamics in maneuver. Using the four degrees of freedom standard modular model for ship dynamics maneuver simulations of large angle zigzag tests with rudder deflection angle variations are conducted. The datasets of ship motion, hydrodynamic force, and moment during the maneuver are acquired to identify the principal modes. The covariance matrix of obtained ship dynamics variables shows a strong linear correlation between the motion, hydrodynamic force, and moment, except the surge force. Four eigenvectors of the covariance matrix are selected as the principal modes of ship dynamics. Using the principal modes, ship motion in turning circle and zigzag tests is reconstructed, showing good agreement with the original data.

  • 풍동실험에 적용하는 실험계획법을 연구하기 위한 선행 연구로써 KF-16의 정적 공력 데이터베이스를 구축하는 풍동 실험을 수행하였다. 본 실험에서 사용된 기체는 KF-16의 1/33 scale의 모델이며 수평 꼬리날개와 플래퍼론, 방향타를 모두 구현하였다. 크게 실험은 수평 꼬리날개의 유무에 따른 공력 특성 변화를 보기 위한 실험과 플랩, 플래퍼론, 방향타, 그리고 수평 꼬리날개의 변위각에 따른 공력특성 변화를 알아보기 위한 실험을 수행하였다. 실험 수행 후에는 각 실험들에 대해서 6가지 공력계수 그래프를 분석하고 반응 표면을 생성하면서 조종면의 변화가 각각 어떤 공력 특성에 큰 영향을 미치는지 알아보았다.

Estimation of Hydrodynamic Derivatives of Full-Scale Submarine using RANS Solver

  • It is necessary to predict hydrodynamic derivatives when assessing the maneuverability of a submarine. The force and moment acting on the vehicle may affect its motion in various modes. Conventionally, the derivatives are determined by performing captive model tests in a towing tank or applying a system identification method to the free running model test. However, a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method has also become a possible tool to predict the hydrodynamics. In this study, virtual captive model tests for a full-scale submarine were conducted by utilizing a Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes solver in ANSYS FLUENT version 18.2. The simulations were carried out at design speed for various modes of motion such as straight forward, drift, angle of attack, deflection of the rudder, circular, and combined motion. The hydrodynamic force and moment acting on the submarine appended rudders and stern stabilizers were then obtained. Finally, hydrodynamic derivatives were determined, and these could be used for evaluating the maneuvering characteristics of the submarine in a further study.
