New conter location algorithms for shared multicast trees (공유된 멀티캐스트 트리에서 센터 위치 결정을 위한 새 알고리즘)

  • Multicast routing algorithms such PIM, CBT, BGMP use shared multicast routing trees and the location of the multicast tree has great impact on the packet delay. In this pater we propose three new center location algorithms and analyze their performance through simulation studies. these three algorithms consider as candidates for the center not only multicast group members but also a few non-members nodes. To select these non-member nodes, we first find all the shortest paths among every couple of members and consider either nodes which are most frequently visited during the process of finding shortest paths or nodes which lie at the center of a shortest path and are most frequently visited during the same process. There the proposed algorithms are able to find the better center than not only algorithms which consider only member nodes but also other algorithms which consider selected non-member nodes in addition ot member nodes. The proposed algorithms either incur too much overhead nor depend upon unicasting algorithms.

Performance Improvement of LSU Algorithms in QoS Routing (QoS 라우팅의 LSU 알고리즘 성능 향상 기법)

  • This paper has proposed Flow Holding Time based Link State Update(LSU) Algorithm that can improve the performance of the existing LSU algorithms. As the existing LSU algorithms are based on the network traffic information, the proposed algorithm is based on flow holding time so we can minimize the LSU message overhead and has not had a strong influence on the depreciation of QoS routing performance. We apply a flow holding time in order to decrease the number of LSU message. We have evaluated the performance of the proposed model and the existing algorithms on MCI simulation network using the performance metric as the QoS routing blocking rate and the mean update rate per link, it thus appears that we have verified the performance of this algorithm.

  • This paper proposes the prediction based QoS routing algorithm, PSS(Prediction Safety-Shortest) algorithm that minimizes network state information overhead and presumes more accurate knowledge of the present state of all the links within the network. We apply time series model to the available bandwidth prediction to overcome inaccurate information of the existing QoS routing algorithms. We have evaluated the performance of the proposed model and the existing algorithms on MCI networks, it thus appears that we have verified the performance of this algorithm.

  • During last two decades the transportation system has developed into very intelligent system with GIS, GPS and ITS. The practical transportation management system provides real time response module to manage the customer's order. We have surveyed research papers on the real time vehicle routing problem in last two decades to figure out the dynamic vehicle routing problem. The papers are classified by basic routing algorithms and by managing the dynamic events which are the order management, the routing re-optimization, the routing post-optimization and the waiting strategy.

An Adaptive Distributed Wavelength Routing Algorithm in WDM Networks (파장분할 다중화 (WDM) 망을 위한 적응 분산 파장 라우팅 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, we propose a heuristic wavelength routing algorithm for IP datagrams in WDM (Wavelength-Division Multiplexing) networks which operates in a distributed manner, while most previous works have focused centralized algorithms. We first present an efficient construction method for a loose virtual topology with a connectivity property, which reserves a few wavelength to cope with dynamic traffic demands properly. This connectivity property assures that data from any source node could reach any destination node by hopping one or multiple lightpaths. We then develop a high-speed distributed wavelength routing algorithm adaptive to dynamic traffic demands by using such a loose virtual topology and derive the general bounds on average utilization in the distributed wavelength routing algorithms. Finally, we show that the performance of the proposed algorithms is better than that of the FSP(Fixed Shortest-Path) wavelength routing algorithms through simulation using the NSFNET[1] and a dynamic hot-spot traffic model, and that the algorithms is a good candidate in distributed WDM networks in terms of the blocking performance, the control traffic overhead, and the computation complexity.

  • This work proposes a neural network approach to solve vehicle routing problems which have diverse application areas such as vehicle routing and robot programming. In solving these problems, classical mathematical approaches have many difficulties. In particular, it is almost impossible to implement a real-time vehicle routing with multiple vehicles. Recently, many researchers proposed methods to overcome the limitation by adopting heuristic algorithms, genetic algorithms, neural network techniques and others. The most basic model for path planning is the Travelling Salesman Problem(TSP) for a minimum distance path. We extend this for a problem with dynamic upcoming of new positions with multiple vehicles. In this paper, we propose an algorithm based on SOM(Self-Organization Map) to obtain a sub-optimal solution for a real-time vehicle routing problem. We develope a model of a generalized multiple TSP and suggest and efficient solving procedure.

  • At recent, the Internet is evolving into the directions which is capable of incorporating stream-type services such as voice and video services due to the remarkable growth of WWW service and the development of new multimedia application services. However, the existing Internet can only support a best-effort delivery model and thus it is difficult to satisfy these requirements as well as to provide the QoS beyond a certain degree. Accordingly, it is imperative to develop QoS-based routing algorithm in order to allow flexible routing by the Internet user's QoS demand and to be applied into wide area networks. In this paper, we presented new routing algorithms for next generation Internet services and made performance evaluations. The proposed algorithms allow the routing by the user's QoS demand level in order to provide the diverse Internet application services based on ATM network environment that is expected to play a role as an infrastructure of next Generation Internet Services.

Call Blocking Probabilities of Dynamic Routing Algorithms in B-ISDN Networks

  • In this paper we apply routing algorithms in circuit switched networks to B-ISDN networks and investigate the performance. B-ISDN supports a wide range of services with hetrogeneous bandwidth requirements. We assume that the network supports D classes of traffic. It is modeled as a finite D dimensional Markov chain. A call is blocked on arrival if the required bandwidth is not available on the route. The shortest path routing, alternate routing and trunk reservation are considered for performance comparison. We also consider trunk reservation with restricted access control where the network reserves certain amount of bandwidths for one class of traffic that assumes a higher transmission priority. Through the method of successive iterations, we obtain the steady state equilibrium probabilities and call blocking probabilities for dynamic routing. The results can be used to design a B-ISDN network that improves network connection availability and efficiency while simultaneously reducing the network costs.

Path Selection Algorithms for Localized QoS Routing (로컬 QoS 라우팅을 위한 경로선택 알고리즘)

  • Recently, localized QoS routing scheme was recently proposed for overcome drawbacks of global state QoS routing schemes. Localized QoS routing dose not exchange QoS states among routers, but use virtual capacity based routing scheme instead. In localized QoS routing, to archive good performance, a set of candidate paths must be selected between the source and the destination effectively. In this paper we propose a few heuristics for effective path selection and develop path selection algorithms based on the heuristics. More detail analysis of the proposed algorithm is presented with simulation results which demonstrate that the path selection method can very affect the performance of localized QoS routing.

  • The growing logistics strategy of a company is to optimize their vehicle route scheduling in their supply chain system. It is very important to analyze for continuous pickups and delivery vehicle scheduling. This paper is a computational study to investigate the effectiveness of continuous pickups and delivery vehicle routing problems. These scheduling problems have 3 subproblems; Inbound Vehicle Routing Problem with Makespan and Pickup, Line-haul Network Problem, and Outbound Vehicle Routing Problem with Delivery. In this paper, we propose 5 heuristic Algorithms; Selecting Routing Node, Routing Scheduling, Determining Vehicle Type with Number and Quantity, and Modification Selecting Routing Node. We apply these Algorithms to S vehicle company. The results of computational experiments demonstrate that proposed methods perform well and have better solutions than other methods considering the basic time and due-date.
