드로우바와 로터가 고속주축계의 동적 특성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of a drawbar and a rotor in dynamic characteristics of a high-speed spindle)

  • The spindle system with a built-in motor can be used to simplify the structure of machine tools, to improve the machining flexibility of machine tools, and to perform the high speed machining. For more quantitative analysis of a built-in motor's dynamic characteristics, that of tile mass and stillness effects are considered. And the drawbar in the spindle can be in various condition according to supporting stiffness between drawbar and shaft. Therefore, in this paper following items are performed and analyzed : 1. Modal characteristics of the spindle. 2. Analysis of rotor's mass and stiffness effects. 3. Modal characteristics of the spindle including drawbar, rotor and tool. The results show enough stiff supports must be provided between shaft and drawbar to prevent occurring drawbar vibration lower than the natural frequency of 1st bending mode of the spindle, and considering the mass and stiffness of built-in motor's rotor is important thing to derive more accurate results.

Thrust force and base bending moment acting on a horizontal axis wind turbine with a high tip speed ratio at high yaw angles

  • Onshore wind turbines may experience substantially different wind loads depending on their working conditions, i.e. rotation velocity of rotor blades, incoming freestream wind velocity, pitch angle of rotor blades, and yaw angle of the wind-turbine tower. In the present study, aerodynamic loads acting on a horizontal axis wind turbine were accordingly quantified for the high tip speed ratio (TSR) at high yaw angles because these conditions have previously not been adequately addressed. This was analyzed experimentally on a small-scale wind-turbine model in a boundary layer wind tunnel. The wind-tunnel simulation of the neutrally stratified atmospheric boundary layer (ABL) developing above a flat terrain was generated using the Counihan approach. The ABL was simulated to achieve the conditions of a wind-turbine model operating in similar inflow conditions to those of a prototype wind turbine situated in the lower atmosphere, which is another important aspect of the present work. The ABL and wind-turbine simulation length scale factors were the same (S=300) in order to satisfy the Jensen similarity criterion. Aerodynamic loads experienced by the wind-turbine model subjected to the ABL simulation were studied based on the high frequency force balance (HFFB) measurements. Emphasis was put on the thrust force and the bending moment because these two load components have previously proven to be dominant compared to other load components. The results indicate several important findings. The loads were substantially higher for TSR=10 compared to TSR=5.6. In these conditions, a considerable load reduction was achieved by pitching the rotor blades. For the blade pitch angle at 90°, the loads were ten times lower than the loads of the rotating wind-turbine model. For the blade pitch angle at 12°, the loads were at 50% of the rotating wind-turbine model. The loads were reduced by up to 40% through the yawing of the wind-turbine model, which was observed both for the rotating and the parked wind-turbine model.

풍력발전기 증속기에 전달되는 풍하중 변동특성 연구 (A Study on Wind Load Variation Characteristics of Wind Turbine Gearbox)

  • 본 논문은 정상풍속과 돌발풍속을 수학적으로 모델링하고 풍향에 따라 전달되는 메인축에서의 전달모멘트를 조사하여 기어박스에 전달되는 풍하중의 특성을 파악하였다. 정상풍속은 지상에서 고도가 높아짐에 따라 속도가 증가하게 설정을 하였다. 풍하중에 의해서 메인축으로 전달되는 모멘트의 평균값과 하모닉값을 풍향 입사각을 $-45^{\circ}{\sim}45^{\circ}$로 변화를 주며 특성을 파악하였다. 또한 기어 트레인의 미스 얼라인먼트를 유발시키는 굽힘 모멘트의 특성을 파악하였다. 정상풍속모델에서는 블레이드의 3배수 주파수(3X)로 하는 토크의 가진이 생기며, 바람의 방향이 $+22.5^{\circ}$일 때 수평방향의 굽힘 모멘트가 주축으로 들어가는 토크의 50%수준으로 발생하는데 이는 수평방향으로의 탄성 축 휘임을 유발하여 치가 모서리에서 물림이 발생하게 하는 원인을 제공함을 알 수 있었다. 돌발풍속의 경우, 3X, 6X, 9X를 가진 주파수로 하는 토크의 가진이 바람의 방향이 +방향으로 커질수록 하모닉항의 상대 비율이 증가하였다.

  • 5kWh FESS(Flywheel Energy Storage System) using AMB(Active Magnetic Bearing) has been under development and 1st trial system has been finished and run the operating test. Unfortunately, the test result was not satisfactory because FESS could increase the rotational speed up to 9,000 rpm only although the target rotational speed is 18,000rpm. It's because 1st bending mode frequency of flywheel shaft was too low and imbalance response was too big. To achieve the target speed, 1st bending mode and imbalance response must be improved and the whole FESS needed to be designed again. This paper presents the newly designed FESS and what has been changed from the 1st trial FESS to improve 1st bending mode and imbalance response. The experimental results to see how much 1st bending mode frequency was improved are presented, too.

  • Hybrid air-foil magnetic bearing integrates two oil free bearing technologies synergetically to adopt the strengths of two bearings with minimizing their weaknesses. This paper presents bending mode vibration control of a flexible shaft supported by the hybrid air-foil magnetic bearing. An experiment set-up of a flexible shaft supported by the hybrid air-foil magnetic bearing is built. In order to verify the effectiveness of the hybrid bearing, unbalance responses of the flexible shaft supported by three different bearings: air-foil, magnetic and hybrid bearings are compared. Effect of load sharing between air-foil and magnetic bearings are investigated through changing the control gain and the rotor center position of magnetic bearing. The experimental results shows that the hybrid bearing can control the bending mode vibration of the flexible shaft effectively and an optimal performance can be achieved with an appropriate load sharing between the air-foil and the magnetic bearings.

Characteristics of Fatigue Crack Initiation and Fatigue Strength of Nitrided 1 Cr- 1Mo-0.25V Turbine Rotor Steels

  • To investigate the effect of nitriding layer on both fatigue crack initiation and fatigue life, turbine rotor steel ( IC.- 1Mo-0.25V steel) specimens were nitrided by the nitemper method and then put to a rotary bending fatigue test at room and elevated temperatures. In nitriding, temperature and time were controlled to obtain a different nitrided thickness. Microstructure analysis, micro-Victors hardness test, and scanning electron microscope observation were carried out for evaluating experiments. In results, the fatigue cracks of nitrided specimens were initiated at inclusion near the interface between nitrided layer and substrate, which showed fish-eye type appearance in fractograph. The fatigue life of nitrided specimens at every temperature was prolonged compared to that of the non-nitrided. However, there was not observable improvement in fatigue characteristics with the increase of a nitrided thickness.

소형 가스터빈 회전체의 위험속도 해석 (Critical Speed Analysis of a Small Gas Turbine Rotor)

  • This paper predicts the critical speeds of a 5MW industrial gas turbine by using commercial rotordynamic tool, DYNAMICS 4.3. The gas turbine is operated at 12,975 rpm on squeeze film dampers. The stiffness of the squeeze film dampers are estimated. The critical speeds of the gas turbine rotor are calculated to have a sufficient separation margin (2%) from the 1st bending mode and pass over 2 rigid body modes below 4,000 cpm. This paper discussed the coupling effects on the dynamic response of the gas turbine.

  • This study researched cause of resonance noise for BLDC motor used in the refrigerator. it is difficult to measure dynamic characteristics for small sized fan & rotor system with conventional excitation method. Therefore this study performed electric exiting method and natural frequency method using microphone instead of conventional excitation and showed validity of these methods. Study result showed that tortional vibration frequency of fan & rotor system and natural bending frequency of the fan were matched with exciting frequency of BLDC motor caused by commutating ripple torque. And this frequency match caused resonance of the system. The study analyzed main parameters of this phenomenon and suggested alternative solution.

  • In this study, the increasing gear boxes for the high speed vertical in-line centrifugal pump are developed through rotor dynamic analysis. The developed increasing gear boxes are two kinds for 18000rpm and 25000rpm at the output shaft. The gear sets suitable for high speed and high load are manufactured by investigating AGMA bending strength and AGMA surface strength severely. The rotor dynamic analysis on gear sets and bearings is performed in order to avoid the critical speeds and other troubles. As a result of study, the two increasing gear boxes for the high speed vertical in-line centrifugal pump are designed and manufactured.
