가속도계에 의한 헬리컬 기어의 동적 전달오차의 측정 (Measurement of the Dynamic Transmission Error of Helical Gears by the Accelerometers)

  • The object of this work is to develop the measurement method of the transmission error of the helical gears. For this purpose, experimental set up is designed by 3D CAD software. It consists of the motor, inverter, powdered brake equipment, torque sensor and helical gearbox. In this study, tangential linear accelerometers were used as the methods for the transmission error measurement. the acceleration signals are transmitted to the signal conditioners through the slip rings and the transmission errors are obtained by a specially designed circuit board. The transmission errors are analyzed in the frequency domain. As a result, The periodicity of the transmission error is confirmed in the mesh frequency and its harmonics. The magnitude of harmonic components is very dependent on the natural frequencies of the gear system. It usually increases with the rotational speed. However, it does not always increase with torque.

직선 이송축의 3자유도 오차 보정을 위한 미세 구동 스테이지 개발 및 성능 평가 (Development and Performance Evaluation of Fine Stage for 3-DOF Error Compensation of a Linear Axis)

  • A fine stage is developed for the 3-DOF error compensation of a linear axis in order to improve the positioning accuracy. This stage is designed as a planar parallel mechanism, and the joints are based on a flexure hinge to achieve ultra-precise positioning. Also, the effect of Abbe's offsets between the measuring and driving coordinate systems is minimized to ensure an exact error compensation. The mode shapes of the designed stage are analyzed to verify the desired 3-DOF motions, and the workspace and displacement of a piezoelectric actuator (PZT) for compensation are analyzed using forward and inverse kinematics. The 3-DOF error of a linear axis is measured and compensated by using the developed fine stage. A marked improvement is observed compared to the results obtained without error compensation. The peak-to-valley (PV) values of the positional and rotational errors are reduced by 92.6% and 91.3%, respectively.

  • In this paper, we designed Active Magnetic Bearing (AMB) for large scale Superconductor Flywheel Energy Storage System (SFESS) and PD controller for AMB. And we experimentally evaluated SFESS including hybrid type AMB. The radial AMB was designed to provide force slew rate that was sufficient for the unbalance disturbances at the maximum operating speed. The thrust AMB is a hybrid type where a permanent magnet carries the weight of the flywheel and an electromagnetic actuator generates the dynamic control force. We evaluated the design performance of the manufactured AMB through comparison of FEM analysis and the results of experimental force measurement. In order to obtain gains of PD controller and design a notch filter, the system identification was performed through measuring frequency response including dynamics for the AMBs, a power amp and a sensor using a sine swept test method after levitating the flywheel. Through measuring the current input of the AMBs and the orbit of a flywheel according to rotational speed, we verified excellent control performance of the AMBs with small amount current for the large scale SFESS.

머시닝센터 회전 결합부의 정강성 Tuning 기법 (Static Stiffness Tuning Method of Rotational Joint of Machining Center)

  • A method has been developed to tune the static stiffness at a rotation joint considering the whole machine tool system by interactive use of finite element method and experiment. This paper describes the procedure of this method and shows the results. The method uses the static experiment on measurement model which is set-up so that the effects of uncertain factors can be excluded. For FEM simulation, the rotation joint model is simplified using only spindle, bearing and spring. At the rotation joint, the damping coefficient is ignored, The spindle and bearing is connected by only spring. By static experiment, 500 N is forced to the front and behind portion of spindle and the deformation is measured by capacitive sensor. The deformation by FEM simulation is extracted with changing the static stiffness from the initial static stiffness considering only rotation joint. The tuning static stiffness is obtained by exploring the static stiffness directly trusting the deformation from the static experiment. Finally, the general tuning method of the static stiffness of machine tool joint is proposed using the force stream and the modal analysis of machine tool.

Surface Wear Monitoring with a Non-Vibrating Capacitance Probe

  • This study concerns the design and development of the non-vibrating capacitance probe which could be used as a non-contact sensor for tribological wear. This device detects surface charge through temporal variation in the work function of a material. Experiments are performed to demonstrate the operation of the probe on a roating aluminum shaft. The reference electrode of the probe, made of lead, is placed adjacent (< 1.25-mm distance) to the shaft. Both surfaces which are electrically connected, form a capacitor. An artificial spatial variation in the work function is imposed on the shaft surface by coating a segment along the shaft circumference with a colloidal silver paint. As the shaft rotates, the reference electode senses changing contact potential difference with the shaft surface, owing to compositional variation. Temporal variation in the contact potential difference induces a current through the electrical connection. This current is amplified and converted to a voltage signal by an electoronic circuit with an operational amplifier. The magnitude of the signal decreases asymptotically with the electrode-shaft distance and increases linearly with the rotational frequency. These results are consistent with the theoretical model. Potential applications of the probe on wear monitoring are proposed.

Runout Control of a Magnetically Suspended High Speed Spindle Using Adaptive Feedforward Method

  • In this paper, the feedforward control with least mean square (LMS) adaptive algorithm is proposed and examined to reduce rotating error by runout of an active magnetic bearing system. Using eddy-current type gap sensors for control, the electrical runout caused by non-uniform material properties of sensor target produces rotational error amplified in feedback control loop, so this runout should be eliminated to increase rotating accuracy. The adaptive feedforward controller is designed and examined its tracking performances and stability numerically with established frequency response function. The designed feedforward controller was applied to a grinding spindle system which is manufactured with a 5.5 kW internal motor and 5-axis active magnetic bearing system including 5 eddy current gap sensors which have approximately 15∼30㎛ of electrical runout. According to the experimental results, the error signal in radial bearings is reduced to less than 5 ,Urn when it is rotating up to 50,000 rpm due to applying the feedforward control for first order harmonic frequency, and corresponding vibration of the spindle is also removed.

  • 회전하는 기계에서 전달되는 조화적인 진동력이 수동 및 능동 진동 격리기를 통하여 중간 지지구조물에 어떻게 전달되는 것인가를 연구하였다. 이를 위하여 이론적인 모델은 모든 축에 대하여 수평과 수직방향의 힘과 모멘트를 고려하여 작성되었으며, 실험은 중간 구조물에 전달되는 회전방향 및 직선방향의 진동을 최소화하기 위하여 2단으로 구성된 중간 지지구조물에 부착된 진동 액츄에이터를 사용하였다. 진동원에 의하여 발생된 진동이 에러 센서에서 측정되었으며 제어원과 에러센서사이의 전달함수가 측정되었다. 1-100Hz사이의 주파수 범위에 있어서 기존의 수동격리기와 직렬로 설치된 능동격리기를 통하여 전달된 힘이 실제로 감소되었음을 실험결과를 통하여 확인하였다.

FFT analysis of load data during field operations using a 75-kW agricultural tractor

  • Analysis of load data during field operations is highly important for optimum design of power drive lines for agricultural tractor. Objective of the paper was to analyze field load data using FFT to determine frequency and the energy levels of meaningful cyclic patterns. Rotary tillage, plowing, baling, and wrapping operations were selected as major field operations of agricultural tractor. An agricultural tractor with power measurement system was used. The tractor was equipped with strain-gauge sensors to measure torque of four driving axles and a PTO axle, speed sensors to measure rotational speed of the driving axles and an engine shaft, pressure sensors to measure pressure of hydraulic pumps, an I/O interface to acquire the sensor signals, and an embedded system to calculate power requirement. In rotary tillage, calculated frequency was decreased as travel speed increased. In baler operation, calculated frequency was increased as PTO speed was increased. The calculated peak frequency levels and expected levels were similar. Results of the study would provide information on power utilization patterns and on better design of power drive lines.

선박의 수직방향 진동 감쇠를 위한 진동보상기의 개발 (Development of Vibration Compensator for Vertical Vibration Damping of Ships)

  • The aim of this study is to develop a vertical vibration compensator that attenuates the vertical vibration of ships. The vibration compensator was designed according to the principle of generating vertical excitation forces by rotating two eccentric bodies of the same mass in opposite directions at the same rotational speed. In addition, the structural stability was analyzed using the finite element method. The maximum stress in the drive shaft was 95.6 MPa, which was approximately 35% of the allowable stress of the shaft material (SM45C, 270 MPa). The acceleration signals of the vibrator compensator body and the testbed were determined to evaluate the efficiency of the vibration compensator and the designed excitation forces. Subsequently, the excitation forces were estimated based on the relationship between force and acceleration. The estimated results were very close to the theoretical values with an error of less than 3%.

IoT 기술이 적용된 스마트 플라잉 디스크 모니터링 시스템 구축 (Smart Flying-Disc Monitoring System with IoT Technology)

  • 플라잉 디스크 게임은 1940년부터 시작된 스포츠이며, 국내는 2007년대 이후 초등학교를 중심으로 보급되어 빠른 속도로 확대되고 있다. 이와 함께 스포츠 과학화가 진행되면서, 플라잉디스크 또한 기술적 향상과 효율성을 위한 모니터링 시스템을 구축하기 위한 연구가 지속되고 있다. 본 논문은 9축 움직임 센서와 GPS 등을 이용해 이용자의 플라잉 디스크에 정보를 획득하고, 이를 블루투스 5.0을 이용한 무선 전달 방법을 제안한다. 세부적으로는 실시간 데이터를 관찰하거나 후처리 과정을 통해 회전속도, 비행 궤적, 회전 등 비교 및 분석할 수 있는 펌웨어 및 소프트웨어 그리고 HW 플랫폼을 설계 구현하였다.
