Implementation of CAM Program for 6-Axis CNC Pipe Coaster (6축 CNC 파이프 코스터 전용 CAM 프로그램 구현)

  • Joint paths are induced mathematically for many kinds of joint pattern between master- and sub-pipes. By compensating them with root gap of welds and kerf width, real cutting paths are determined. Their NC codes are generated, and the paths generated by NC code are verified by a ghost function. A beveling is implemented through tilting a torch in the A- and B-axis direction for 8 sections in the chuck rotation of C-axis. The effective CAM program was developed specially for 6-axis CNC pipe coasters which cut a master or sub- pipe along the cutting path and simultaneously fulfill a beveling process.

A Correlation between Axis-Rotation and Corneal Eccentricity in Toric Soft Contact Lens Fitting in With-the-rule Astigmatism (직난시안에서의 토릭소프트렌즈 피팅 시 축 회전과 각막이심률과의 상관관계)

  • Purpose: A correlation between the rotating direction and rotation amount according to the eccentricity was analyzed in the present study when fitting the toric soft contact lens. Methods: One hundred fourteen eyes of with-the-rule astigmatism in 20s and 30s were appropriately applied toric soft contact lens by the guideline of manufacturer and fitting evaluations and analyzed the rotating direction and rotation amount when fixating at primary position and 8 different directions of gaze. The speed of reorientation and the correlation between the rotation amount and cornea eccentricity were also analyzed when rotating $45^{\circ}$ each toward the temporal and nasal direction. Results: The cornea eccentricity and rotation amount was shown positive correlation. For the gaze of direction, it was identified that the gaze of directions other than the gaze of direction towards the nasal and temporal had correlation, and among them, the gaze of directions to superior and the superior-temporal showed the tendency of decreasing rotation amount as the cornea eccentricity increased. On the contrary, the gaze of direction towards the inferior, inferior-temporal, superior-nasal, and inferior-nasal showed tendency of increasing rotation amount as the cornea eccentricity increased thus, it was identified that the cornea eccentricity showed different correlation according to the gaze of direction. For the case of re-orientational speed, the speed of lens reorientation in the group having the smallest corneal eccentricity was fastest in both direction but was not significantly different. Conclusions: Considering cornea eccentricity to current method of prescribing toric soft contact lens which is based on total astigmatism, it will be helpful to establish the optimal axis stabilization.

  • Joint paths of master and branch pipes are induced mathematically for many kinds of joint patterns between both pipes in 3-axis pipe profile-cutting machines. By compensating them with a kerf width, the real cutting paths are determined, and their CL-data are generated, and the tool paths generated by CL-data are verified by a ghost function. A bevelling of welds is implemented through tilting a cutting torch in the $\beta$-axis direction for 8 sections in the chuck rotation of $\alpha$-axis. A PLC controls simultaneously position and velocity in a real time for $\alpha$, X, $\beta$-axis by loading CL-data generated. We developed the PLC-controlled 3-axis pipe profile-cutting system which can cut a master or branch pipe along the cutting path and simultaneously do a bevelling process.

Representation of ambiguous word in Latent Semantic Analysis (LSA모형에서 다의어 의미의 표상)

  • Latent Semantic Analysis (LSA Landauer & Dumais, 1997) is a technique to represent the meanings of words using co-occurrence information of words appearing in he same context, which is usually a sentence or a document. In LSA, a word is represented as a point in multidimensional space where each axis represents a context, and a word's meaning is determined by its frequency in each context. The space is reduced by singular value decomposition (SVD). The present study elaborates upon LSA for use of representation of ambiguous words. The proposed LSA applies rotation of axes in the document space which makes possible to interpret the meaning of un. A simulation study was conducted to illustrate the performance of LSA in representation of ambiguous words. In the simulation, first, the texts which contain an ambiguous word were extracted and LSA with rotation was performed. By comparing loading matrix, we categorized the texts according to meanings. The first meaning of an ambiguous wold was represented by LSA with the matrix excluding the vectors for the other meaning. The other meanings were also represented in the same way. The simulation showed that this way of representation of an ambiguous word can identify the meanings of the word. This result suggest that LSA with axis rotation can be applied to representation of ambiguous words. We discussed that the use of rotation makes it possible to represent multiple meanings of ambiguous words, and this technique can be applied in the area of web searching.

Hip Range of Motion Estimation using CT-derived 3D Models (CT기반 3차원 모델을 이용한 고관절 운동범위 예측)

  • The success of the total hip arthroplasty is revealed as initial stability, range of motion, and long term pain, etc. Depending upon choice of implantation options such as femoral neck offset, diameter of the femoral head, the lateral opening tilt. Especially the impingement between femoral head component and acetabular cup limits the range of motion of the hip. In this sense, estimation or evaluation of the range of motion before and after the total hip arthroplasty is important. This study provides the details of a computer simulation technique for the hip range of motion of intact hip as well as arthroplasty. The suggested method defines the hip rotation center and rotation axes for flexion and abduction, respectively. The simulation uses CT-based reconstructed 3D models and an STL treating software. The abduction angle of the hip is defined as the superolateral rotation angle from sagittal plane. The flexion angle of the hip is defined as the superoanterior angle from the coronal plane. The maximum abduction angle is found as the maximum rotation angle by which the femoral head can rotate superolaterally about the anterior-posterior axis without impingement. The maximum flexion angle is found as the maximum rotation angle by which the femoral head can rotate superoanteriorly about the medial-lateral axis without impingement. Compared to the normal hip, the total hip replacement hip showed decreased abduction by 60 degrees and decreased flexion by 4 degrees. This measured value implies that the proposed measurement technique can make surgeons find a modification of increase in the femoral neck offset or femoral head, to secure larger range of motion.

3-D Kinematic Analysis According to Open Stance Patterns During Forehand Stroke in Tennis (테니스 포핸드 스트로크 동안 오픈스탠스 조건에 따른 3차원 운동학적 분석)

  • Recently among several tennis techniques forehand stroke has been greatly changed in the aspect of spin, grip and stance. The most fundamental factor among the three factors is the stance which consists of open, square and closed stance. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relations between the segments of the body, the three dimensional anatomical angle according to open stance patterns during forehand stroke in tennis. For the movement analysis three dimensional cinematographical method(APAS) was used and for the calculation of the kinematic variables a self developed program was used with the LabVlEW 6.1 graphical programming(Johnson, 1999) program. By using Eular's equations the three dimensional anatomical Cardan angles of the joint and racket head angle were defined 1. In three dimensional maximum linear velocity of racket head the X axis showed $11.41{\pm}5.27m/s$ at impact, not the Y axis(horizontal direction) and the z axis(vertical direction) maximum linear velocity of racket head did not show at impact but after impact this will resulted influence upon hitting ball It could be suggest that Y axis velocity of racket head influence on ball direction and z axis velocity influence on ball spin after impact. the stance distance between right foot and left foot was mean $74.2{\pm}11.2m$. 2. The three dimensional anatomical angular displacement of shoulder joint showed most important role in forehand stroke. and is followed by wrist joints, in addition the movement of elbow joints showed least to the stroke. The three dimensional anatomical angular displacement of racket increased flexion/abduction angle until the impact. after impact, The angular displacement of racket changed motion direction as extension/adduction. 3. The three dimensional anatomical angular displacement of trunk in flexion-extension showed extension all around the forehand stroke. The angular displacement of trunk in adduction-abduction showed abduction at the backswing top and adduction around impact. while there is no significant internal-external rotation 4. The three dimensional anatomical angular displacement of hip joint and knee joint increased extension angle after minimum of knee joint angle in the forehand stroke, The three dimensional anatomical angular displacement of ankle joint showed plantar flexion, internal rotation and eversion in forehand stroke. it could be suggest that the plantar pressure of open stance during forehand stroke would be distributed more largely to the fore foot. and lateral side.

  • 줄넘기는 줄을 돌리는 손동작과 뛰어오르는 동작이 결합된 운동으로 정확한 카운트를 위해서는 두 동작을 함께 고려해야 한다. 이전의 연구들에서는 단순 반복적인 운동인 윗몸일으키기, 팔굽혀펴기, 아령 운동과 함께 치부하여 하나의 동작만을 체크하여 카운트 하였다. 이것은 실제 줄넘기 동작과는 차이가 있으며 두 동작 중 하나의 동작만을 하고 있다면 확인해내지 못하는 문제가 있다. 본 논문에서는 6축 가속도 자이로 센서를 이용하여 두 동작을 모두 확인하고 카운트하는 방법을 제안한다. 가속도 센서를 이용하여 뛰어오르는 동작을 확인하며 자이로 센서를 이용하여 손동작을 확인한다. 이때 확인되는 값의 파형을 이용하여 줄넘기 횟수를 카운트하게 된다. 제안하는 방법은 실제 실험을 통하여 카운트 방법의 성능을 확인할 수 있다.

Translation- and Rotation-Invariant Fingerprint Authentication Based on Gabor Features (Gabor 특징에 기반한 이동 및 회전 불변 지문인증)

  • A direct authentication from gray-scale image, instead of the conventional multi-step preprocessing, is proposed using Gabor filter-based features from the gray-scale fingerprint around core point. The core point is located as a reference point for the translation invariant matching. And its principal symmetry axis is detected for the rotation invariant matching from its neighboring region centered at the core point. And then fingerprint is divided into non-overlapping blocks with respect to the core point and features are directly extracted form the blocked gray level fingerprint using Gabor filter. The proposed fingerprint authentication is based on the Euclidean distance between the corresponding Gabor features of the input and the template fingerprints. Experiments are conducted on 300${\times}$300 fingerprints obtained from a CMOS sensor with 500 dpi resolution, and the proposed method could lower the False Reject Rate(FRR) to 18.2% under False Acceptance Rate(FAR) of 0%.

Crystal Growth of Er:YAG and Er,Cr:YSGG for Medical Lasers

  • Erbium doped garnet crystals were grown by Czochralski method. Relationshipes between crystal quality and crystal growth factors such as pulling rate, rotation rate and concentration of active ions and sensitizers were investigated. Optimum pulling and rotation rate for high quality Er:YAG crystal were 1 mm/hr and 20 rpm and for Er,Cr:YSGG crystal 2-4 mm/hr and 10 rpm respectively. The size of the crystals grown was up to 20-30 mm in diameters and 95-135 mm in length. Er:YAG crystal grown under the nitrogen atmosphere was pink and transparent and Er,Cr:YSGG under the 98% {{{{ { N}_{ 2} }}}} and 2% {{{{ { O}_{2 } }}}} was dark green and transparent. Under the polarizing microscopic observations with crossed polar, striations and {211} core facets were detected. Spectroscopic properties for Er,Cr:YSGG laser rods with <111> axis, 80 mm in length and 6.3 mm in diameter for medical laser applications of 2.79 ${\mu}$m wavelength were manufactured and then laser oscillation was achieved.

  • A low-Reynolds-number second moment turbulence closure is improved with the aid of DNS data. For the model coefficients of pressure-strain terms, we adopted Shima's model with some modification. Shin and Choi's new dissipation-rate equation is employed to simulate accurately the turbulence energy dissipation rate distribution in the near wall sublayer. The results of computations are compared with DNS, LES data and experimental data for turbulent plane channel flow with rotation about spanwise axis. The present second moment closure achieves a level of agreement similar to that for the non-rotating. In particular, it accurately captures the distribution of turbulence energy dissipation rate in the near wall region.
