회전팔 추진기를 가진 시험용 HAUV의 설계 및 구현 (Design and Implementation of A Hovering AUV with A Rotatable-Arm Thruster)

  • In this paper, we propose the hardware and software of a test-bed of a hovering AUV (autonomous underwater vehicle). Test-bed to develop as the underwater robot for the hovering -type is planning to apply for marine resource development and exploration for deep sea. The RTU that controls a azimuth thruster and a vertical thruster of test-bed is a intergrated-type thruster. The main control unit that collects sensor's data and performs high-speed processing and controls a movement of test-bed is a underwater hybrid navigation system. Also it transfers position, posture, state information of test-bed to the host PC of user using a wireless communication. The host PC checks a test-bed in real time by using a realtime monitoring system that is implemented by LabVIEW.

Characterization of a Tunable Flattened-Pass-band Fiber Comb Filter

  • The optical characteristics of a tunable flattened-pass-band fiber comb filter, based on the polarization-diversified loop configuration, are investigated using the $Poincar{\acute{e}}$-sphere representation. In the design process, the spectral flatness is checked quantitatively, and the tunability of the pass band is demonstrated experimentally. Theoretical calculations show that the filter also exhibits desirable dispersion and polarization properties. The orientation angles of rotatable wave plates for the wavelength tunability of the filter are obtained. Furthermore, we elaborate on the multiple angle loci produced by degeneracies through the combination of optical elements within the loop of the filter.

탠저블 증강현실을 활용한 개인용 가상스튜디오 저작 (Authoring Personal Virtual Studio Using Tangible Augmented Reality)

  • Nowadays personal users create a variety of multi-media contents and share them with others through various devices over the Internet since the concept of user created content (UCC) has been widely accepted as a new paradigm in today's multi-media market, which has broken the boundary of contents providers and consumers. This paradigm shift has also introduced a new business model that makes it possible for them to create their own multi-media contents for commercial purpose. This paper proposes a tangible virtual studio using augmented reality to author multi-media contents easily and intuitively for personal broadcasting and personal content generation. It provides a set of tangible interfaces and devices such as visual markers, cameras, movable and rotatable arms carrying cameras, and miniaturized set. They can offer an easy-to-use interface in an immersive environment and an easy switching mechanism between tangible environment and virtual environment. This paper also discusses how to remove inconsistency between real objects and virtual objects during the AR-enabled visualization with a context-adaptable tracking method. The context-adaptable tracking method not only adjusts the locations of invisible markers by interpolating the locations of existing reference markers, but also removes a jumping effect of movable virtual objects when their references are changed from one marker to another.

Ergonomic Evaluation and Improvement of Bus Seat Armrest Design

  • Objective: The present study is intended to develop an improved bus seat armrest design by evaluating various bus armrest designs from ergonomic aspects. Background: An ergonomic armrest design which considers the sitting postures and body shapes of passengers can improve the convenience and comfort of a bus seat. Method: Subjective satisfaction of each of five design dimensions (length, width, height from seatpan, shape, and angle) was evaluated for seven bus seat armrest designs in various sizes and shapes by 58 participants (28 males and 33 females) using a 7-point scale (1: very dissatisfied, 4: neutral, and 7: very satisfied). Improved bus seat armrest designs adjustable in length and rotatable to the left or right (sliding and rotating armrest, SRA) with a concave, flat, or convex shape of the upper part were developed by considering the preferred design features and the body size and shape in sitting posture and needs of passengers and then compared with a conventional armrest. Results: A bus seat armrest with a wide width (40~50mm), a long length (360mm), a lower height (213mm), and a curved shape was found significantly preferred in terms of comfort. The proposed armrest designs (SRA-convex, SRA-flat, and SRA-concave) improved satisfaction by 46~62% for length suitability, 184~216% for width suitability, 205~214% for angle suitability, 138~181% for contact area suitability, and 49~64% for height suitability, 138~174% for comfort, and 93~111% for overall satisfaction. Conclusion: The preferred design features and passengers' needs of bus seat armrest were identified and the SRA designs were recommended for better usability. Application: The ergonomic design process of bus seat armrest employed in the present study can be applied to designing armrests in various vehicles for better convenience and comfort.

반응표면분석을 이용한 연삭가공용 스핀들 형상 최적화 (Shape Optimization of Grinding Spindle using Response Surface Analysis)

  • To improve the accuracy of a machine, research needs to be conducted on the relationship between the output variables and design variables of a spindle-shaped part from the thermal and static viewpoints. Therefore, research was carried out by examining the correlation of each variable to find the optimum conditions. Moreover, DOE (design of experiments) was extensively used. The model used in this study was a grinding spindle to which a hydrostatic bearing was applied. This model was used in a preliminary analysis based on the experimental results of the previous studies. The influences of the output variables and design variables were compared through a main effect analysis. Generated response surfaces were applied to the Kriging model. To optimize the model, a screening method was selected. In comparison with the initial model, the deformation of the optimized model designed by DOE decreased by 4.1 μm, while the thermal deformation decreased by 1.2 μm. Therefore, it was efficient to design a spindle-shaped part through DOE to improve the accuracy of the machine.

Central Composite Design Matrix (CCDM) for Phthalocyanine Reactive Dyeing of Nylon Fiber: Process Analysis and Optimization

  • The objective of this study was to apply the statistical technique known as design of experiments to optimize the % exhaustion variables for phthalocyanine dyeing of nylon fiber. In this study, a three-factor Central Composite Rotatable Design (CCRD) was used to establish the optimum conditions for the phthalocyanine reactive dyeing of nylon fiber. Temperature, pH and liquor ratio were considered as the variable of interest. Acidic solution with higher temperature and lower liquor ratio were found to be suitable conditions for higher % exhaustion. These three variables were used as independent variables, whose effects on % exhaustion were evaluated. Significant polynomial regression models describing the changes on % exhaustion and % fixation with respect to independent variables were established with coefficient of determination, R2, greater than 0.90. Close agreement between experimental and predicted yields was obtained. Optimum conditions were obtained using surface plots and Monte Carlo simulation techniques where maximum dyeing efficiency is achieved. The significant level of both the main effects and interaction was observed by analysis of variance (ANOVA) approach. Based on the statistical analysis, the results have provided much valuable information on the relationship between response variables and independent variables. This study demonstrates that the CCRD could be efficiently applied for the empirical modeling of % exhaustion and % fixation in dyeing. It also shows that it is an economical way of obtaining the maximum amount of information in a short period of time with least number of experiments.

통계적 실험계획에 의한 폐플라스틱/폐유의 최적 열분해 반응조건 결정 (Determination of Optimum Reaction Conditions for Pyrolytic Coprocessing of Waste Plastics with Waste Motor oil by Statistical Experimental Design)

  • 범용 열가소성 플라스틱(polyethylene(PE), polypropylene(PP), polystyrene(PS), polyethylene-terephthalate(PET), acrylonitrile-butandiene-styrene(ABS))과 폐윤활유의 동시처리 열분해반응 실험을 수행하였다. 반응실험은 40$m\ell$ 용량의 회분식 미분반응기(microreactor)를 이용한 실험과 1리터 용량의 autoclave를 이용한 실험의 두 가지로 구분하여 행하였다. 전자의 경우는 통계적 실험적계획법(statistical experimental design)의 하나인 회전계획실험(rotatable design experiments)으로서 오각형 실험계획(pentagonal experimental design)에 의거한 반응변수 실험을 수행한 후 반응표면(response surface)을 회기분석법에 의하여 분석함으로써 최대의 오일 수율을 얻을 수 있는 최적 반응조건을 추적, 결정하였다. Autoclave 반응실험의 기본적인 목적은 실제 연속공정에 있어서 열분해 반응기 거동을 모사하기 위한 전초단계로서 충분한 시료의 확보를 통하여 이 때 생성된 연로유의 체계적인 분석(비등점분포특성, 진공증류, 기체분석, 원소분석, 발열량, 비중 등)을 행함으로써 연료유 수율 및 품질을 모사하고자 하였다. 미분반응기 실험에 있어서 주 범용열가소성수지인 PE, PP 그리고 PS는 각각의 최적반응조건하에서 거의 100%에 가깝게 오일로 전환되었지만 응축수지인 PET와 그래프트공중합수지인 ABS의 오일수율은 각기 78% 및 90%로서 상대적으로 낮게 나타났다. Autoclave를 이용한 실험의 경우 혼합플라스틱을 폐유에 대하여 40wt% 혼합하여 열분해하였을 때, 80wt% 오일, 15wt% 코우크, 그리고 나머지 5wt%는 탄화수소기체(C1-C6)로 전환되었다. 진공증류(252$^{\circ}C$,2 torr) 결과, 기/액-분리도는 3으로서 이는 생성오일의 75wt%가 경질연료유(가솔린, 등유, 경유)로 회수 가능하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 혼합감도문제를 이용하여 강인한 서보계를 구성함으로서 동위치 제어 시스템의 제어계를 설계하는 방법을 제안하였고, LQG를 이용한 다변수 디지털 서보 제어기 및 H$\infty$ 최적 제어기와의 비교실험을 통하여 제안된 제어기의 유용성을 입증하였다.

전산유체역학을 이용한 단일 송풍기가 적용된 공냉식 연소설비의 효율개선 (Enhancement of combustion efficiency of a air-cooled combustor system with single F.D. Fan Using CFD)

  • 본 연구는 multi fan 방식의 "공랭식 연소설비"의 공정관리상의 문제점을 single F.D. fan 으로 대체하여 개선시키기 위해 CFD 진행하였고, 연소로 내 유동조건 변화를 분석하여 문제점을 확인하였다. 이를 개선하기 위해 연소공기 주입구조를 변경하였고, 구조 변화에 따른 연소효율 개선을 수치해석으로 평가하였다. 또한 실제 연소설비에 수치해석결과를 반영하여 구조개선을 한 후 개선 전·후의 연소효율을 실험적으로 측정하였다. 먼저 기존 Single F.D fan 이 적용된 연소설비에 대한 수치해석을 통해, 2개의 유로로 공급되는 연소공기가 각 유로의 마찰력 차이와 압력의 변화로 인해 연소로 내에서 공급비율이 불규칙하게 되어 선회방식의 연소조건을 위한 축 형태의 난류형성이 어려움을 확인하였다. 이를 개선하기 위해서 연소로에 주입하는 공기 공급 방식을 두 가지로 나누어 수치해석을 하였다. 첫 번째 방식은 연소공기를 외벽에서 180 ~ 360° 회전 후 예열된 연소공기가 주입되는 구조에 대하여 검토하였고, 두 번째는 연소로 내에는 선회할 수 있는 베인(vane) 구조를 적용하여 연소로 밖에서 1차 열교환 후 연소로 내부에 접선방향으로 연소공기가 주입되는 구조에 대하여 검토하였다. 그 결과, single F.D. fan을 가진 공랭식 연소로에 선회방식으로 공기를 주입할 경우, 연소로 외벽의 냉각과 연소로 내부의 완전혼합 유지를 위해 이중 냉각벽을 가지는 덕트 구조를 적용하는 것이 연소조건을 최적화하는데 바람직한 것으로 나타났으며, 실제 운영중인 설비에 적용하여 개선 전·후의 연소효율을 비교한 결과 연소효율이 개선되는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

Extrusion Puffing of Pork Meat-Defatted Soy Flour-Corn Starch Blends to Produce Snack-like Products

  • To produce expanded, minimally hard extrudates from blends of raw pork meat (20%), defatted soy flour (25%), and corn starch using a single-screw extruder, various combinations of feed moisture, process temperature, and screw speed were evaluated. First series of extrusion runs were conducted according to a central composite rotatable design/response surface methodology (RSM). Upon assessing the full model for each response, insignificant terms were eliminated to determine final response surface models. Screw speed within the range evaluated was found to have no significant effect on expansion ratio (ER) or shear force (SF) of extrudates. Since examinations of the response surfaces and their generated grids of predicted values indicated that maximum ER and minimum SF were likely to be attained with a moisture-temperature combination outside the RSM experimental range, the second series of extrusion runs were conducted with several selected combinations of moisture and temperature to determine a practical optimum extrusion condition. The combination of 22.78% feed moisture, 16$0^{\circ}C$ process temperature, and 170 rpm screw speed was chosen as such a condition, and used in the final extrusion. The final product required less force to break than did commercial pretzel sticks.
