  • The development of rolling texture is dependent on the various rolling condition. And the geometry of rolling gab and the friction between rolls and rolled material mainly affect the type and sharpness of texture inhomogeneity through thickness. In order to follow the effect of geometry and friction various strain/pass and lubrication condition were applied during cold rolling. In this investigation various strain/pass and lubrication were applied during cold rolling in order to follow the effect rolling gap geometry and friction. More high 1/h was, more weak the ${\beta}$-fiber was and in the condition of l/h > 5 {001}<110> shear texture developed. In adition, rolling without lubrication enhanced the shear texture.

적층형 Bi-2223 고온초전도 선재 제작에 관한 연구 (A Study on fabrication of stacking type Bi-2223 HTS tapes)

  • The critical characteristics of Bi-2223 HTS tapes made by PIT method are influenced by the heat treatment and the mechanical processing. In this study firstly we investigated the influence o rolling reduction rate in mechanical process for improving Jc of HTS tapes. As a result the optimized rolling reduction rate that we obtained was 10%-50% and 30%-30% (1st-2nd). And then we fabricated the stacking type HTS tapes that made of the multi-filamentary tapes with various length(3, 5, 10cm) and with various number of stacking (1, 5, 10 layer). Measuring the critical current and observing the structure of grain we concluded that the stacking type tapes will be able to operate more stably by adding the number of stacking tapes. And we could expect that by minimizing the gap between Ag-sheath of tapes mechanical strength of stacking HTS tapes is enhanced and current in tapes will flow more stably.

  • The objective of this study is to suggest the form rolling technology to produce high precision worm. Rack dies and roll dies are usually used to roll parts with worm teeth. The form roiling processes of worm shaft used as automotive part using the rack dies of counter flow type and the roll dies are considered and simulated by the commercial finite element code, DEFORM-3D. It is also important to determine the initial blank diameter in form rolling because it affects the quality of thread. The calculation method of the initial blank diameter in form rolling is suggested and it is verified by FE-simulation. The experiments using rack dies and roll dies are performed under the same conditions as those of simulation. The results of simulation and experiment in this study show that the from rolling process of worm shaft using the rack dies is decidedly superior to that using rolling dies from the aspect of the surface roughness and the profile of worm.

  • Present research target to develop the procedure of long-term fatigue analysis of the structural details near the upper rolling chock of IMO type B tank by using the time domain modal analysis technique where both the contact and friction behavior can be accurately simulated. In order to perform the time domain analysis focused on the contact and friction, the entire model of the hull and tank was condensed with DOF reduction technique, which is obtained by transforming the global finite element model into its quasi-static modal coordinate. Modal analysis using the quasi-static deformation modes is chosen as a cost effective time domain simulation method and this is based on the fact that the structural response of the tank is quasi-static. Based on the developed cost effective time domain simulation method, the long-term fatigue analysis procedure for the structural details near the rolling chock and key of independent type tank is targeted to be established. The developed fatigue assessment procedure takes into account, wave induced stress and both contact and friction induced stress without loss of accuracy.

  • An inhomogeneous rolling texture of high purity aluminum has been observed by a multilayered rolling. The shear texture of (100)[110] component developed in the surface layer, and the copper type rolling texture developed in the middle and center layers. The through-thickness texture variation has been calculated by the full-constraint Taylor model combined with FEM. The calculated results are in good agreement with the measured data.

  • The recent technical trend in hot rolling of steel can be described as process and product technologies which have been progressed with modern mill equipment and computers. Precise gauge and width control can be achieved by up-to-date control methods such as AGC and AWC systems. Roll benders and various shape control systems enabled high quality flatness and crown control. Mills can produce higher tensile materials by new process based on process metallurgy. The use of high speed steel rolls and on line roll grinders make the schedule free rolling easier which results in cost saving. Process itself goes toward continuous and simple flow type which has lower operation. Endless rolling and strip casting are examples of the trend. Materials with higher tensile strength and various functions have been developed in last years to meet the customer's needs and this trend will continue.

  • Several simulation techniques have been developed which are not practical deformation processes but are designed to embody specific tribological aspects. Sliding rolling type friction test machine (Cold rolling tribosimulator) was developed to simulate the tribological phenomena at the roll bite in real mill by laboratory scale. A rolled material is fed at a low speed of Max. 1/20 to that of roll speed, so as to obtain simultaneous plastic deformation in the material during rotation of the rolls in simulator. New cold rolling tribe-simulator is effective for evaluation of the lubricity of lubricant in cold rolling process.

  • It is important to prevent roll failure in hot rolling process for reducing maintenance cost and production loss. The relationship between rolling pass schedule and the work roll wear profile will be presented. The roll wear pattern is related with roll catastrophic failure. The irregular and deep roll wear pattern should be removed by On-line Roll Grinder(ORG) for roll failure prevention. In this study, a computer roll wear prediction model under real process working condition is developed and evaluated with hot rolling pass schedule. The method of building wear calculation functions for center portion abrasion and marginal abrasion respectively was used to develop a work roll wear prediction mathematical model. The three type rolling schedule are evaluated by wear prediction model. The optimum roll grinding methods is suggested for schedule tree rolling technique.

차륜-레일 구름접촉을 적용한 철도차량 유한요소 모델의 충돌 기인 탈선거동 해석 (Collision-induced Derailment Analysis of a Finite Element Model of Rolling Stock Applying Rolling Contacts for Wheel-rail Interaction)

  • In this paper, a finite element analysis technique of rolling stock models for collision-induced derailments was suggested using rolling contacts for wheel-rail interaction. The collision-induced derailments of rolling stock can be categorized into two patterns of wheel-climb and wheel-lift according to the friction direction between wheel flange and rail. The wheel-climb derailment types are classified as Climb-up, Climb/roll-over and Roll-over-C types, and the wheel-lift derailment types as Slip-up, Slip/roll-over and Roll-over-L types. To verify the rolling contact simulations for wheel-rail interaction, dynamic simulations of a single wheelset using Recurdyn of Functionbay and Ls-Dyna of LSTC were performed and compared for the 6-typical derailments. The collision-induced derailment simulation of the finite element model of KHST (Korean High Speed Train) was conducted and verified using the theoretical predictions of a simplified wheel-set model proposed for each derailment type.

  • CB100 is one of the channel type products in the steel beam. In this study, rolling process of CB100 is analyzed by 3D FEM simulation and rolling process. FEM simulation result is compared with rolling process data. Also the intermediate & finishing roll stress analysis is carried out and the suitability of the roll through roll stress resultant analysis is evaluated. In order to decrease the roll stress, new pass schedule is developed for stable load balance between intermediate and finishing rolling stand. Therefore new rolling pass schedule is verified by the analysis results of rolling process and roll stress. By the analysis results, the credibility of rolling process analysis was obtained and it was determined that the possibility of roll damage between intermediate and finishing mill was high. So the new pass schedule was developed. Through the result of rolling process and roll stress analysis, it was obtained that the reduction of roll stress and stable load balance.
