  • In this work, we have developed a 2 degree of freedom(DOF) motion simulator that can generate the sensation of motion in a 6 DOF space. The motion base has the DOF of roll and pitch, and the purpose of the motion base is to create the sensation of riding a vehicle in a 3D space by controlling the motion base. The dynamics of the mechanism was analysed and the optimal design of the motion base mechanism has been reached. The prototype motion base mechanism was developed and tested. The multi-axis motion controller(MMC) was used to control the two ac servo motors that drive the roll and pitch motion.

  • This paper presents the laser processing to adjust the roll and pitch directions of the flex suspension assembly for hard disk drive production. The adjustment is accomplished using a number of laser beam projections that can be approximated using the regression model of the existing measured roll and pitch directions. Information derived from the analysis can be applied to control the quality of flex suspension assembly. The performances of the proposed technique were observed using the flex suspension assembly plant in Thailand as an illustrative case study. The experimental results are given to support the improving manufacturing yields and some economic benefits of the proposed technique.

  • 초전도 반발식 자기부상열차의 동특성을 해석하기 위하여 외력에 의하여 대차가 기울어진 경우에 차량에 가해지는 전자력을 계산하였다. 집중부하방식의 열차에 있어서 크게 나타나는 단부효과 를 고려하기 위하여 공극자속의 형태에 대한 가정없이 자속분포를 계산하였으며, 대차의 옆질(roll), 뒷질(pitch) 및 편주(yaw)시의 전자력특성과 복원토오크를 검토하였다. 6개의 초전도자석이 탑재된 대 차가 차량의 양쪽에 설치된 열차에 대해서 계산한 결과, 토오크의 방향은 차량을 안정하게 하는 방향 으로 나타나서 본 자기부상시스템은 기본적으로 안정한 시스템임을 보여주고 있다.

  • KOMPSAT-2 will carry MSC(Multi-Spectral Camera) which provides 1m resolution panchromatic and 4m resolution multi-spectral images at the altitude of 685km sun-synchronous mission orbit. The mission operation of KOMSPAT-2 is to provide the earth observation using MSC with nadir pointing. KOMPSAT-2 will also have the capability of roll/pitch tilt maneuver using reaction wheel of satellite as required. In order to protect MSC from thermal distortion as well as direct sunlight, MSC shall be operated within the constraint of sun incidence angle. It is expected that the sunlight will not violate the constraint of sun incidence angle for normal mission operations without roll/pitch maneuver. However, during roll/pitch tilt operations, optical module of MSC may be damaged by the sunlight. This study analyzed sun incidence angle of payload using KOMPSAT-2 AOCS (Attitude and Orbit Control Subsystem) Design and Performance Analysis Soft ware for KOMPSAT-2 normal mission operations.

  • We propose a dual grating alignment technique for roll-to-roll positioning which allows achieving nanometer scale alignment by using micro-size marks. The high precision alignment system were designed and manufactured. It was confirmed that the optical system was properly adjusted and fully aligned with the dual gratings. The experiment and computer simulation results were presented. Alignment accuracy below 50 nm was achieved.

  • This paper presents the analysis of pitch static attitude (PSA) in thermally assisted magnetic recording (TAMR) suspension. The TAMR suspension using an optical fiber has high stiffness such as vertical, pitch and roll. Therefore, P-torque is greatly increased by the optical fiber. Also, flying height (FH) of the slider with TAMR suspension can be largely changed by PSA. In this paper, we focus on the FH by PSA of TAMR suspension. The FH is investigated using various PSA and proper PSA is proposed.

Recording natural head position using an accelerometer and reconstruction from computed tomographic images

  • Objectives: The concept of natural head position (NHP) was first introduced by Broca in 1862, and was described as a person's stable physiologic position "when a man is standing and his visual axis is horizontal." NHP has been used routinely for clinical examination; however, a patient's head position is random during cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) acquisition. To solve this problem, we developed an accelerometer to record patients' NHP and reproduce them for CBCT images. In this study, we also tested the accuracy and reproducibility of our accelerometer. Materials and Methods: A total of 15 subjects participated in this study. We invented an accelerometer that measured acceleration on three axes and that could record roll and pitch calculations. Recorded roll and pitch data for each NHP were applied to a reoriented virtual image using three-dimensional (3D) imaging software. The data between the 3D models and the clinical photos were statistically analyzed side by side. Paired t-tests were used to statistically analyze the measurements. Results: The average difference in the angles between the clinical photograph and the 3D model was $0.04^{\circ}$ for roll and $0.29^{\circ}$ for pitch. The paired t-tests for the roll data (P=0.781) and the pitch data (P=0.169) showed no significant difference between the clinical photographs and the 3D model (P>0.05). Conclusion: By overcoming the limitations of previous NHP-recording techniques, our new method can accurately record patient NHP in a time-efficient manner. Our method can also accurately transfer the NHP to a 3D virtual model.

  • 물리탐사에서 유용한 3차원 좌표계 회전 문제를 일관성있게 정리하였다. 일관성을 유지하기 위한 기준으로 오른손 좌표계의 정의에서 출발하였다. 또한 능동 회전과 수동 회전의 개념을 설명하고, 서로 다른 좌표계 간의 회전 및 역회전은 전치행렬의 관계로서 기준 좌표계와 센서 좌표계 사이의 회전 관계를 명확히 하였다. 3차원 회전에서는 항법 등에서 사용하는 요-피치-롤(yaw-pitch-roll) 회전과 물리검층에서 쉽게 이해할 수 있는 방위각-편차-센서회전 회전 방식의 회전 행렬을 설명하였다. 또한, 이 둘과 Rodrigues 회전 공식에 의한 회전 행렬 각각의 각도를 구하는 수식을 정리하였다. 요-피치-롤 방식의 회전에서 나타나는 "Gimbal Lock" 현상을 그림과 수식으로 설명하고, 이의 해결방안으로 동원되는 사원수(quaternion)의 원리와 적용 방법에 대해서도 서술하였다.

무향 칼만 필터를 이용한 무인 운송체의 자세 추정 (Attitude Estimation of Unmanned Vehicles Using Unscented Kalman Filter)

  • 본 논문은 저가형 AHRS(: Attitude Heading Reference System)센서를 이용하여 무인 운송체(Unmanned vehicle)의 자세를 무향 칼만 필터 (Unscented Kalman filter)통해 추정하는 방법을 제안한다. 측정된 가속도와 지구자기장 값을 이용하여 UKF의 보정 단계에서 사용될 자세를 계산한다. 롤 (roll)과 피치 (pitch)는 가속도로부터 구해지며 요 (yaw)는 지구 자기장을 이용하여 연산한다. 이때 사용되는 지구자기장 측정값은 강철 효과(hard-iron effect)와 연철 효과(soft-iron effect)에 의해 쉽게 왜곡되기 때문에 계산된 요의 불확실성이 롤이나 피치의 불확실성에 비하여 크다. 본 논문은 이러한 불확실성을 줄이기 위하여 측정된 지구자기장에 포함된 편차성분을 추정하고 보정하여 더 정밀한 요값을 구한다. 제안된 방법을 수조에서의 무인 운송체 항법 실험을 통하여 검증하였다. 실험결과, 자세 추정 성능이 개선되고 이에 따라 위치 추정 성능도 개선됨을 확인하였다.
