Due to the non-uniform distribution of meso-structure, the diffusion of chloride ions in concrete show the characteristics of characteristics of randomness and fuzziness, which leads to the non-uniform distribution of chloride ions and the non-uniform corrosion of steel rebar in concrete. This phenomenon is supposed as the main reason causing the uncertainty of the bearing capacity deterioration of reinforced concrete structures. In order to analyze and predict the durability of reinforced concrete structures under chloride environment, the random features of chloride ions transport in concrete were studied in this research from in situ meso-structure of concrete. Based on X-ray CT technology, the spatial distribution of coarse aggregates and pores were recognized and extracted from a cylinder concrete specimen. In considering the influence of ITZ, the in situ mesostructure of concrete specimen was reconstructed to conduct a numerical simulation on the diffusion of chloride ions in concrete, which was verified through electronic microprobe technology. Then a stochastic study was performed to investigate the distribution of chloride ions concentration in space and time. The research indicates that the influence of coarse aggregate on chloride ions diffusion is the synthetic action of tortuosity and ITZ effect. The spatial distribution of coarse aggregates and pores is the main reason leading to the non-uniform distribution of chloride ions both in spatial and time scale. The chloride ions concentration under a certain time and the time under a certain concentration both satisfy the Lognormal distribution, which are accepted by Kolmogorov-Smirnov test and Chi-square test. This research provides an efficient method for obtain mass stochastic data from limited but representative samples, which lays a solid foundation for the investigation on the service properties of reinforced concrete structures.

High-maneuver missile is a projectile which demands a strong momentum at short time. To produce a necessary thrust for the flight, the gas of high temperature and pressure is generated through explosive combustion of solid propellant, and a great thrust can be obtained by expanding this high temperature and pressure gas. Although the operating time of a rocket motor is less than a few seconds, a failure of part or ablation near the throat of nozzle may take place during the expansion of high temperature and pressure gas for great thrust. In other words, for the precise control of a missile an exact stress analysis considering both, the thermal stress caused by the heat transfer between combustion gas and wall, and the mechanical stress caused by the pressure change in the flow, should be considered first. In this connection, this study investigated the safety, as a point of view of stress and melting point of the material, of the pre-designed thrust generating structure which is subjected to high temperature and pressure as a function of motor operating time.

Modeling and Simulation(M&S) for a liquid propellant supply system is a technique to predict the performance of components and systems under certain conditions based on mathematical modeling for each component of the engine. In this paper, the basic structure of M&S for the supply system applied to liquid rocket engines was obtained by analyzing the related research conducted. The basic mathematical modeling of components was organized and the characteristics of each study result were analyzed. Based on the analysis and validation results, M&S method of advanced foreign research institutes was also identified, and factors related to its accuracy were described.

A calorimeter of 2-ton thrust level rocket engine chamber has been developed to measure the wall heat flux. The liner of the chamber is made of copper-chromium alloy to maximize the heat transfer performance and structural strength. 1-D design code based on empirical correlations has been used for the prediction of the global thermal characteristics while 3-D CFD has been applied for the verification of local cooling performance. The predicted average wall heat flux at the throat is 43 $MW/m^{2}$ for the combustion chamber pressure of 53 bar. The chamber structure is confirmed to be safe at the pressure of 150 bar through 2-D stress analysis and measurement of the strain of the test species. Finally, the test of pressurizing the calorimeter chamber has been performed with water at the pressure of 150 bar in room temperature environment. No thermal damage has been detected after the hot-fire test in the test nozzle of same cooling performance with the developed calorimeter though the measured throat heat flux is higher than the design value by 10%.

The flowfield of hypersonic shock-shock interaction has been simulated using a two-dimensional Navier-Stokes code based on AUSMPW+ scheme. AUSMPW+ scheme is a new hybrid flux splitting scheme, which is improved by introducing pressure-based weight functions to eliminate the typical drawbacks of AUSM-type schemes, such as non-monotone pressure solutions. To study the real gas effects, three different gas models are taken into account in the present paper: perfect gas, equilibrium flow and non equilibrium flow. It has been investigated how each gas model influences on the peak surface loading, such as wall pressure and wall heat transfer, and unsteady structure of flowfield in the region of shock-shock interaction. With the results, the value of peak pressure is not sensitive to the real gas effects nor to the wall catalyticity. However, the value of peak heat transfer rates is affected by the real gas effects and the wall catalyticity. Also, the structure of the flowfield changes drastically in the presence of real gas effects.

I consider the structure of steady wave system which is admitted by the continuum equations for materials that undergo phase transformations with exothermic chemical reaction. In particular, the dynamic phase front structures between liquid and gas phases, and solid and liquid phases are computationally investigated. Based on the one-dimensional continuum shock structure analysis, the present approach can estimate the nano-width of waves that are present in combustion. For illustration purpose, n-heptane is used in the evaporation and condensation analysis and HMX is used in the melting and freezing analysis of energetic materials of interest. On-going effort includes extension of this idea to include broad range of liquid and solid fuels, such as rocket propellants.

The development of high-pressure sub-scale combustion chambers is described. A total of four high-pressure sub-scale combustion chambers having either a detachable structure of the mixing head and the chamber or a single welded regenerative cooling structure have been developed. The sub-scale combustion chambers have a chamber pressure of 70 bar and propellant mass flow rate of 5.1~9.1 kg/s. The propellant mass flow rate and the recess number of the injector were changed for the improvement of combustion performance and they were validated through hot firing tests. The design and manufacturing techniques of regenerative cooling channel and film cooling to be applied to the full-scale combustion chamber were adopted through the present development and verified.

Numerical simulations of the steady and unsteady state were conducted for a coaxial swirl injector with Kerosene fuel. Non-premixed equilibrium model based on chemical equilibrium assumption was used as turbulence-chemistry interaction model. As an equations of state, SRK(Soave-Redlich-Kwong) EOS was applied to deal with the behavior of real fluid in a high pressure condition. Through the steady and unsteady computations, mean values of steady and time-averaged unsteady state were compared on the temperature and OH mass fraction and it was shown that the flame structure of steady state was different to that of time-averaged unsteady state.
This paper proposes a numerical modeling approach to simulate the hybrid combustion phenomena. From the physical understandings of hybrid combustion, the computational domain was separated into three regions: the solid fuel, gas phase reactive flow, and the interface between solid and fluid. Moreover, for the accurate calculation, computational grids for these regions was generated at every time step considering the instantaneous moving interface which are governed by the balance equations using thermal pyrolysis. In the domain of reactive flow, by virtue of diffusion flame structure, turbulent combustion modeling was introduced using either mixture fraction approach or mean reaction rate approach.

In this research, the design methods of the rocket joint parts were suggested. In the first section, nonlinear finite element analyses for joint parts of a composite pressure tank were performed. In the analyses, the detailed finite element modeling was performed and complex boundary conditions(contact problem, clamping force) were considered. Secondly, several guidelines for the design of joint parts were suggested. The parametric study for geometric design variables was peformed. Finally, the parametric study result was categorized for the multi-Joint part design of the axi-symmetric composite structure.
