  • This research collected work drilling report of TBM method site developed by WRITH company to TBM equipment company in Germany and analyzed work operating productivity. Based Oil the data analyzed TBM operating productivity, This research derived and presented excavation speed (m/day) by TBM diameter (3.0m, 3.5m, 3.8m) and rock. Also, based on the excavation speed (m/day) by TBM diameter, This research estimated a day direct construction cost and total direct construction costs by applying a direct construction cost which spent on per 1m. When we perform a similar geological construction in the future, excavation speed and direct construction cost which were derived by TBM diameter and rock is thinking the effective utilization data to estimate construction cost and plan schedule management before the start of construction.

  • Red sea bream iridovirus (RSIV) obtained from infected rock bream was propagated by Bluegill fry-2 (BF-2) cell culture. The virus titer was determined as $10^{5.5}\;TCID_{50}/ml$ on confluent BF-2 cell monolayers. The integrin binding site of ORF 055L of infectious spleen and kidney necrosis virus (ISKNV) was selected for the construction of a primer to obtain the RSIV ORF 055L gene. The genes were amplified using RSIV gene lyzate by PCR. The homologies of the ORF 055L sequence of RSIV with ISKNV and rock bream iridovirus (RBIV) were approximately $96\%$ and $100\%$, respectively. DNA vaccine was constructed by cloning the ORF 055L of RSN into pcDNA 3.1 (+), containing a cytomegalovirus (CMV) promoter. For antibody production, pcDNA-055 DNA vaccine was injected to BALB/c mice. The production of antibodies against pcDNA-055 DNA vaccine was confirmed by the Western blot analysis. The antibodies produced by the pcDNA-055 DNA vaccine showed efficacy to neutralize the RSIV in the neutralization test in BF-2 cell culture.

  • The air quality near the backfilled site area is significantly deteriorated during and even after the curing period of the backfill materials. Hazardous gases such as NH3 and CO2 may leak out prolongedly from the mined-out sites backfilled with the composite carbonate-based material; leakage can be observed at the underground working sites as well as on the surface. At operating mines, underground gas leakage will severely aggravate the workplace environment. The ventilation schemes should supply sufficient air to dilute the contaminated air, and control the toxic gas leakage and dispersion. This study shows the applicability of pressurization ventilation system to control gas leakage and dispersion at the backfilled underground mine site.

  • The techniques using geophysical methods were adopted to obtain quantitative criteria for assessment of grouting effectiveness. Various surface and borehole geophysical surveys including seismic, GPR(ground penetrating radar), resistivity and electromagnetic methods were conducted in fractured rock pilot site before and after grouting execution. However, it is not enough that geophysical data provide criteria for field engineers to confirm the grouting effectiveness in that site even though there is somewhat difference before and after grouting. This study will be continued for the detailed criteria and assessment of grouting effectiveness in other sites.

  • For a successful performance of Carbon Capture Sequestration (CCS) projects, appropriate injection conditions should be designed to be optimized for site specific geological conditions. In this study, we built a simple 2-dimensional analysis model, based on the geology of Jang-gi basin which is one of the potential sites of domestic CCS projects. We evaluated the impact of initial stress conditions and injection rate through coupled TOUGH-FLAC simulator. From the preliminary analysis, we constructed risk scenarios with the higher potential of shear slip and performed scenario analysis. Our analysis showed that normal stress regime produced the highest potential of shear slip and stepwise increasing injection rate scenario resulted in much larger pore pressure build up and consequent higher potential of the shear slip, which was evaluated using a mobilized friction coefficient.

  • Seismic hazard assessments are performed on a variety of infrastructure projects. One component of a seismic hazard assessment is the attenuation relationship. Several attenuation relationships have been developed over the decades to predict peak ground acceleration under a variety of site conditions. For example, many attenuation relationships were designed to estimate peak ground acceleration, as well as other intensity measures, under a variety of soil conditions, mostly using the average shear wave velocity for the upper 30 m of earth material as a classification scheme. However, certain types of infrastructure, such as tunnels and nuclear power plants, are typically founded on and in bedrock. Using data from Japan, we developed a simple correlation to estimate peak ground acceleration for rock sites and compare the results from another popular attenuation relationship. Results indicate the popular attenuation relationship to be less than the proposed model for distances less than 200 km.

  • This study performed an on-site demonstration of the topographic surveying technique at a large-scale open-pit limestone mine in Korea using a fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV, Drone, SenseFly eBee). 288 sheets of aerial photos were taken by an automatic flight for 30 minutes under conditions of 300 m altitude and 12 m/s speed. Except for 37 aerial photos in which no keypoint was detected, 251 aerial photos were utilized for data processing including correction and matching, then an orthomosaic image and digital surface model with 7 cm grid spacing could be generated. A comparison of the X, Y, Z-coordinates of 4 ground control points measured by differential global positioning system and those determined by fixed-wing UAV photogrammetry revealed that the root mean squared errors were around 15 cm. Because the fixed-wing UAV has relatively longer flight time and larger coverage area than rotary-wing UAVs, it can be effectively utilized in large-scale open-pit mines as a topographic surveying tool.

  • This study introduces the current status of the design for safety(DfS) introduced as one of the owner - centered construction site safety management plan, and presents the problems and the improvement plan. The design for safety has been shifting from the construction management-oriented safety management to the owner-centered safety management system, The owner has to make the design considering the safety from the design stage centered on the owner. The owner has to review and approve the adequacy of the safety-conscious design and The risk factors that can not be eliminated during design are the system to prevent the disaster at the construction site by planning to eliminate the risk factor when writing the safety management plan that is made at the construction stage. The design for safety system implemented from May 2016 will be further developed to prevent the risk of safety accidents that may occur in construction sites, contributing greatly to the reduction of construction accident. In addition, it suggests ways to develop more efficient and convenient system through continuous hazard finding and system improvement.
