Considering the high dimensions of video sequences, it is often challenging to acquire a sufficient dataset to train the tracking models. From this perspective, we propose to revisit the idea of hand-crafted feature learning to avoid such a requirement from a dataset. The proposed tracking approach is composed of two phases, detection and tracking, according to how severely the appearance of a target changes. The detection phase addresses severe and rapid variations by learning a new appearance model that classifies the pixels into foreground (or target) and background. We further combine the raw pixel features of the color intensity and spatial location with convolutional feature activations for robust target representation. The tracking phase tracks a target by searching for frame regions where the best pixel-level agreement to the model learned from the detection phase is achieved. Our two-phase approach results in efficient and accurate tracking, outperforming recent methods in various challenging cases of target appearance changes.
Given a periodic reference signal or disturbance, repetitive control is a special control scheme to reduce a tracking error effectively by the periodic signal generator in the repetitive controller. In general, a repetitive controller is added on the existing feedback control system to improve the tracking performance. However, because the information used in the design of the feedback controller is not taken into account, the design problem of the repetitive controller is totally another problem irrespective of that of the feedback controller. In this paper, we present a more general method to design an add-on type repetitive controller using the information on the performance of the existing feedback control system. We first show that a robust stability condition of repetitive control systems is obtained using the well-known robust performance condition of general feedback control systems. It is also shown that we can obtain a steady-state tracking error described in a simple form without time-delay element if the robust stability condition is satisfied for the repetitive control system. From the obtained results, several design criterions for repetitive controller are provided. Through the simulation study, the feasibility of the proposed method is verified.
In this paper, a robust controller is proposed to achieve an accurate tracking for an uncertain nonlinear plant with actuator dynamics. The extent of parameter uncertainty can be quantified by using linear parameterization technique. A switching controller is proposed to guarantee the global asymptotic stability of the plant. In order to eliminate the chattering caused by the switching controller, a smoothing controller is designed using the boundary layer technique around the sliding surface and guarantees the uniform ultimate boundedness of the tracking error.

The neural network with radial basis function is introduced for position tracking control of AC servo drive with the existence of system uncertainties. An adaptive robust term is applied to overcome the external disturbances. The proposed controller is implemented on a high performance digital signal processing DSP TMS320C6713-300. The stability and the convergence of the system are proved by Lyapunov theory. The validity and robustness of the controller are verified through simulation and experimental results
We treat the problem of the robust tracking of a class of nonlinear systems which can be asymptotically decoupled in approximate sense by state variable feedback. A nonlinear control law is derived such that the tracking error in the closed loop system is uniformly bounded and tends to a certain small neighborhood of the origin. Simulation results show that simultaneous lateral and longitudinal maneuvers in airplane can be accurately performed in spite of uncertainty in stability derivatives.

This paper presents a modeling and a controller design for a hybrid wind turbine generator, especially with an operating mode of battery energy-storage system and a dumpload that contribute to the frequency control of the system while diesel-synchronous unit is not in operation. The proposed control scheme is based on a robust tracking controller, which takes an account of system uncertainties due to the wind flow and load variations. In order to provide robustness for system uncertainties, the range of operation is partitioned into three operating conditions as sub-models in the controller design. In the simulation study, the proposed robust tracking controller (RTC) is compared with the conventional proportional-integral (PI) controller. Simulation results show that the effectiveness of the RTC against disturbances caused by wind speed and load variation. Thus, better quality of the hybrid wind power system is achieved.
This paper presents analysis, design and simulation for the indirect field orientation control (IFOC) of induction machine drive system. The dynamic performance of the IFOC under nominal and detuned parameters of the induction machine is established. A conventional proportional plus integral-derivative (PI-D) two-degree-of-freedom controller (2DOFC) is designed and analysed for an ideal IFOC induction machine drive at nominal parameters with the desired dynamic response. Varying the induction machine parameters causes a degredation in the dynamic response for disturbance rejection and tracking performance with PI-D 2DOF speed controller. Therefore, conventional controllers can nut meet a wide range of speed tracking performance under parameter variations. To achieve high- dynamic performance, a proposed robust fuzzy logic controllers (RFLC) for d-axis rotor flux, d-q axis stator currents and rotor speed have been designed and analysed. These controllers provide robust tracking and disturbance rejection performance when detuning occurres and improve the dynamic behavior. The proposed REL controllers provide a fast and accurate dynamic response in tracking and disturbance rejection characteristics under parameter variations. Computer simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed REL controllers and a robust performance is obtained fur IFOC induction machine drive system.
The most important problem in traget tracking can be said to be modeling the tracking system correctly. Although the simple linear dynamic equation for this model has used until now, the satisfactory performance could not be obtained owing to uncertainties of the real systems in the case of designing the filters based on the dynamic equations. In this paper, we propose the extended robust Kalman filter(ERKF) which can be applied to the real target tracking system with the parameter uncertainties. To solve the robust nonlinear fettering problem, we derive the extended robust Kalman filter equation using the Krein space approach and sum quadratic constraint. We show the proposed filter has better performance than the existing extended Kalman filter(EKF) via 3-dimensional target example.
This paper proposes a robust object tracking algorithm using object features and on-line learning based particle filter for mobile robots. Mobile robots with a side-view camera have problems as camera jitter, illumination change, object shape variation and occlusion in variety environments. In order to overcome these problems, color histogram and HOG descriptor are fused for efficient representation of an object. Particle filter is used for robust object tracking with on-line learning method IPCA in non-linear environment. The validity of the proposed algorithm is revealed via experiments with DBs acquired in variety environment. The experiments show that the accuracy performance of particle filter using combined color and shape information associated with online learning (92.4 %) is more robust than that of particle filter using only color information (71.1 %) or particle filter using shape and color information without on-line learning (90.3 %).
