  • This paper purposed that verify the validity of Petri Net method for control progressive increase of system complexity, before extend the realized single robot system to multi-robot system. An autonomous mobile robot(AMR) needs decision making, motion control, path planning, tracking a path, obstacle avoidance, and sensor fusion, to complete its task. An AMR integrates and operates these technics through a consistent command system. An error in a command hierarchy which is like duplication or omission of a control command hierarchy for each module results in serious problems. This paper minimizes the error by modeling each module and whole system using Petri Net graphical representation and applies it to the exploration task of an AMR

  • This study is about a design method for deriving task safety scenarios for the application of collaborative robots. A five-step process for deriving task safety scenarios for collaborative robots has been proposed, which focuses on the type of collaboration between human and collaborative robot. The three types of collaboration were classified according to the collaboration workspace and the worktime of human and collaborative robot. Based on these three types of collaboration, task safety scenarios include scenarios that predict risk from unintended use during work. Collaboration with collaborative robot is a human-centered process because human actions can create dangerous situations. Besides, we improved the understanding of this design methodology by presenting examples of the application of task safety scenarios according to the process for each type of collaboration.

  • Mobile manipulator is a robot that has mobility and manipulability with the combination of the task robot and mobile robot. One of the most important feature of the Mobile Manipulator is redundant freedom. Using the redundant freedom, Mobile Manipulator can move various mode, perform dexterous motion. It can have the wider workspace and better performance in avoidance of singularity and obstacle than the fixed base structured robot. Cooperation control using the Mobile Manipulator improves the performance of the robot with redundant freedom in workspace. In this paper, configuration control of the Mobile Manipulator has been studied using Task Segment and TOMM(Task-Oriented Manipulability Measure). For verifying the proposed algorithm, we implemented a mobile manipulator, PURL-II, which is composed of a mobile robot with 3DOF and a task robot with SDOF.

  • As multiple functions arc required in a robot controller, RTOS(Real Time Operating System) should be adopted to manage complex situations, such as choosing most urgent task among competing ones. In this paper, we implemented RTAI(Real Time Application Interface) based robot controller for wafer handling robots including graphic simulator. We showed how multiple tasks are organized and also explained in detail about task priorities and execution periods. Finally, we presented simulation results.

  • Researches of multi-robot system are active in these days. The most remarkable characteristic of multirobot system is that the robots work cooperatively and achieve the task which a single robot cannot do. It is essential to investigate number effect of multi-robot system. In this paper, we chose foraging task and investigated their behavior. At first, we investigated the foraging behavior in case that interaction range is Infinite. Secondly, we investigated the behavior in case that interaction range is finite. In both case, we find out there is an optimum interaction duration.

  • In the existing robot programming methods, off-line method becames important role of programming because of improvement of hardware and software of PC. The purpose of this study is to develop practical robot programming system for polishing task using PC. In the first place, we have investigated the existing robot programming systems, and derived the requirement of this programming system from the existing systems. And we have decided the structure of this system. After that, we have developed this system. Using Windows software, this programming system has man/machine interface function. So users can use easily and quickly.

  • In this paper, we propose a methodology for classifying types of lower limb disability and their mechanical structure, based on extensive survey of previous developments. We also propose a task-oriented design with human-friendly and energy-efficient assistive system. The result can be used for optimal design of wearable walking-assistive robot considering the type of disability and the content of task.

  • In this paper we present cooperation of heterogeneous robot team, composed of a wheeled robot and a helicopter for localization and map building. This heterogeneous robot team can successfully fulfill task by combining the abilities of both robots than single robot because wheeled robot and helicopter have complementing ability. The scenario describes a tightly cooperative task, where the wheeled robot move carrying the helicopter and detect obstacles, if there are obstacles, helicopter take off for map building and land, then robot team move destination avoiding obstacles. We present PID controller for position control of helicopter and transformation algorithm to global coordinate from image pixel coordinate. Experimental result show that the proposed method is valid.

  • Teach pendant is the most widely used means of robot teaching at present. Despite the difficulties of using the motion command buttons on the teach pendant, it is an economical, robust, and effective device for robot teaching task. This paper presents the development of a force/moment direction sensor named COSMO that can improve the teach pendant based robot teaching. Robot teaching experiment of a six axis commercial robot using the sensor is described where operator holds the sensor with a hand, and move the robot by pushing, pulling, and twisting the sensor in the direction of the desired motion. No prior knowledge of the coordinate system is required. The function of the COSMO sensor is to detect the presence f force and moment along the principal axes of the sensor coordinate system. The transducer used in the sensor is micro-switch, and this intuitive robot teaching can be implemented at a very low cost.
