This paper presents a new scheme of neural network controller to improve to improve the robustuous of robot manipulator using digital signal processors. Digital processors, DSPs, are micro-processors that are particularly developed for fast numerical computations involving sums and products of variables. Digital version of most advanced control algorithms can be defined as sums and producrs of measured variables, thus it can be programmed and executed through DSPs. In addition, DSPs are as fist in computation as most 32-bit micro-processors and yet at a fraction of their prices.

In order to utilize hydrodynamic drag force on articulated robots moving in an underwater environment, an optimum motion planning procedure is proposed. The drag force acting on cylindrical underwater arms is modeled and a directional drag measure is defined as a quantitative measure of reaction force in a specific direction in a workspace. A repetitive trajectory planning method is formulated from the general point-to-point trajectory planning method. In order to globally optimize the parameters of repetitive trajectories under inequality constraints, a 2-level optimization scheme is proposed, which adopts the genetic algorithm (GA) as the 1st level optimization and sequential quadratic programming (SQP) as the 2nd level optimization. To verify the validity of the proposed method, optimization examples of periodic motion planning with the simple two-link planner robot are also presented in this paper.
This paper proposes a novel monocular vision-based SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) method using both position and orientation information of ceiling lamps. Conventional approaches used corner or line features as landmarks in their SLAM algorithms, but these methods were often unable to achieve stable navigation due to a lack of reliable visual features on the ceiling. Since lamp features are usually placed some distances from each other in indoor environments, they can be robustly detected and used as reliable landmarks. We used both the position and orientation of a lamp feature to accurately estimate the robot pose. Its orientation is obtained by calculating the principal axis from the pixel distribution of the lamp area. Both corner and lamp features are used as landmarks in the EKF (Extended Kalman Filter) to increase the stability of the SLAM process. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme works successfully in various indoor environments.
The Controller Area Network (CAN) is being widely used in real-time control applications such as automobiles, aircraft, and automated factories. Unfortunately, CAN, in its current form, is not able to either share out the system bandwidth among the different devices fairly or to grant an upper bound on the transmission times experienced by the nodes connected to the communication medium as it happens, for instance, in the token-based networks. In this paper, we present the message scheduling for CAN, based on the distributed control scheme to integrate actuators and sensors in a humanoid robot. Besides introducing the new algorithm, this paper also presents some performance figures obtained using a specially developed software simulator, while the behavior of the new algorithm is compared with the traditional CAN systems, in order to see how effective they are.

This paper deals with the problem of motion planning for a unicycle-like robot. We present a simple local planner for unicycle model, based on an approximation of the desired configuration generated by local holonomic planner that ignores motion constraints. To guarantee a collision avoidance, we propose an inequality constraint, based on the motion analysis with the constant control input and time interval. Consequently, we formulate our problem as the constrained optimization problem and a feedback scheme based on local sensor information is established by simply solving this problem. Through simulations, we confirm the validity and effectiveness of our algorithm.
This paper presents the design of a new sliding mode controller to improve the rate of convergence by Lyapunov's stability analysis. The proposed controller shows that the elimination of the steady state position errors can be achieved by replacing the desired trajectory by the virtual reference trajectory. The proposed control scheme which consists of the upper bounded and estimated values of eac term of the manipulator dynamic equation does not require good knowledge of the parameters and the computation of matrix inversion. The performance of proposed controller is evaluated by the simulation for a two-link manipulator.
In this paper we develop a new robust trajectory tracking control scheme without using joint velocity. The proposed controller doesn´t employ adaptation, Therefore, the construction of the controller becomed very simple. Moreover, by using numerical simulation, we make sure the effectiveness of the proposed controller in the presence of quantization errors.
