  • This paper presents a new concept for controlling of under actuated robot manipulators with avoiding obstacles using switching computed torque method (SCTM). One fundamental approach of this algorithm is to use the partly stable controllers (PSCs) in order to fulfill the ultimate control objective. Here, we use genetic algorithms (GA)in order to employ the optimum control action for a given time frame with the available set of elemental controllers, depending on which links/variables are controlled, i.e. the selection of optimum switching sequence of the control actions. The proposed approach models links of the robot using evolving ellipses and then introduces a penalty scheme for the objective function of GA when it detects collisions. An under actuated robot manipulator, which has three detrees-of-freedom is taken into consideration so as to illustrate the design procedure. Simulation results show the e.ectiveness of the proposed method.

  • Usually, robot manipulators in production lines are operated with reperting work trajectories. This paper presents the repeated adaptive learning algorithm for robot manipulates for the case of a trajectory. This algorithm uses the nonlinear dynamic model including the repeated friction compensating term, The advantage of the scheme is that It allows friction compensation which may be otherwise difficult for differently constructed models. A secondary advantage of the sheme is that it can also adapt to torque calculation in order to reduce the computational load of the control computer. To show the efficiency of the proposed controller, a computer simulation is performed for the planar robot manipulator with a 2 degree of freedom.

  • This paper presents a robot manipulator kinematic motion control scheme based on velocity feedback loop. The desired joint velocity is obtained by the feature-based visual servoing and is used in the joint velocity control loop system for trajectory control of the robot manipulator. The asymptotic stability of the closed loop system is shown by the Lyapunov method. Effectiveness of the proposed method is shown by simulation and experimental results on a robot manipulator with two degree of freedom.

  • In the systems such as walking robots or high speed operating manipulators, the effect of nonlinear terms is important and can not be neglected. Therefore the application of linear control law to such systems is inadequate. Moreover, because of the mathematical modeling errors the systems may become unstable. In this study, we designed a nonlinear controller with sliding mode scheme, which is robust to the modeling errors and applied this control algorithm to the 5 DOF biped robot system. Throught the computer simulations, we examined walking characteris and walking stability of the 5 DOF biped robot system.

  • The design concept of varaiable structure control is useful not only to stochasic systems but also to adaptive control systems. The Dynamic equation of vertical three linkage robot was derived. And it was simplyfied according to the scheme of control strategy. And we specify the form of model. Thereafter the error dynamic equation was derived between the real state of the plant and state of the model. Some simulations were performed to control robot manipulator applying the methodology of the variable structure model following adaptive control.

  • In this paper, it is presented a new technique to the design and real-time implementation of fuzzy control system based-on digital signal processors in order to improve the precision and robustness for system of industrial robot. Fuzzy control has emerged as one of the most active and fruitful areas for research in the applications of fuzzy set theory, especially in the real of industrial processes. In this thesis, a self-organizing fuzzy controller for the industrial robot manipulator with a actuator located at the base is studied. A fuzzy logic composed of linguistic conditional statements is employed by defining the relations of input-output variable of the controller, In the synthesis of a FLC, one of the most difficult problems is the determination of linguistic control rules from the human operators. To overcome this difficult, SOFC is proposed for a hierarchical control structure consisting of basic level and high level that modify control rules. The proposed SOFC scheme is simple in structure, fast in computation, and suitable for implementation of real-time control. Performance of the SOFC is illustrated by simulation and experimental results for robot with eight joints.

  • Using the vision system, robotic tasks in unstructured environments can be accompished, which reduces greatly the cost and steup time for the robotic system to fit to he well-defined and structured working environments. This paper proposes a dynamic control scheme for robot manipulator with eye-in-hand camera configuration. To perfom the tasks defined in the image plane, the camera motion Jacobian (image Jacobian) matrix is used to transform the camera motion to the objection position change. In addition, the dynamic learning controller is designed to improve the tracking performance of robotic system. the proposed control scheme is implemented for tasks of tracking moving objects and shown to outperform the conventional visual servo system in convergence and robustness to parameter uncertainty, disturbances, low sampling rate, etc.

  • This paper presents the development of real-time estimation and control details for a computer vision-based robot control method. This is accomplished using a sequential estimation scheme that permits placement of these points in each of the two-dimensional image planes of monitoring cameras. Estimation model is developed based on a model that generalizes know 4-axis Scorbot manipulator kinematics to accommodate unknown relative camera position and orientation, etc. This model uses six uncertainty-of-view parameters estimated by the iteration method. The method is tested experimentally in two ways : First the validity of estimation model is tested by using the self-built test model. Second, the practicality of the presented control method is verified in performing 4-axis manipulator's assembly task. These results show that control scheme used is precise and robust. This feature can open the door to a range of application of multi-axis robot such as deburring and welding.

  • In this paper, we describe a method for the mobile robot using images of a moving object. This method combines the observed position from dead-reckoning sensors and the estimated position from the images captured by a fixed camera to localize a mobile robot. Using the a priori known path of a moving object in the world coordinates and a perspective camera model, we derive the geometric constraint equations which represent the relation between image frame coordinates for a moving object and the estimated robot`s position. Since the equations are based on the estimated position, the measurement error may exist all the time. The proposed method utilizes the error between the observed and estimated image coordinates to localize the mobile robot. The Kalman filter scheme is applied to this method. Effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated by the simulation.

  • A new indoor mobile robot localization method is presented. Robot recognizes well designed single color landmarks on the ceiling by vision system, as reference to compute its precise position. The proposed likelihood prediction based method enables the robot to estimate its position based only on the orientation of landmark. The use of single color landmarks helps to reduce the complexity of the landmark structure and makes it easily detectable. Edge based optical flow is further used to compensate for some landmark recognition error. This technique is applicable for navigation in an unlimited sized indoor space. Prediction scheme and localization algorithm are proposed, and edge based optical flow and data fusing are presented. Experimental results show that the proposed method provides accurate estimation of the robot position with a localization error within a range of 5 cm and directional error less than 4 degrees.
